+ saw the writing on the wall half way through the second and thanks to having kayo, thought funk this ive got too much shit to do and its too nice a day. Took the dog to the beach, erected a shade sail off the shed for the tinnie and kayaks and figured if the beating wasnt too bad id watch it later in the evening.

- im not watching it ever.

What is the funking point of being the richest club in the comp if you dont use that cash to bully with. We should have the best medicos and physios.

We dont,
We funking well dont.

I went to the Freo game tonight.

Their skills are certainly not any better than ours. Still significantly worse across the board I'd say. That's actually the frightening part...they have atonne amount of improvement left in them.

Huge contrast in effort, intensity and fitness.

Our blokes are flat out lazy and they've been allowed to get away with it.

A malaise has beset our football club and it is going to take strong leadership and significant pain to arrest and reverse this decline.

A line needs to be drawn in the sand. Certain players need to be told they are done for this footy club at league level. Other players need to be told they are off for a WAFL stint until they attain fitness levels befitting a league footballer. Still others need to be told, in no uncertain terms, that they are playing for their careers. Coaches need to be told that their careers are on the line. Not being good enough is something we can work through. Acceptance of this type of football, that doesn't even approach mediocrity, is a disease that must be rooted out at all costs.

It will ruffle feathers. We'll lose a lot of football games for a couple of years. It will give us a chance to find our spirit again.

PS **** that godawful Birds of Tokyo shit off. It's a soft-rock embarrassment. The perfect anthem to our current performance. Soft and abysmal.

Shuey is cooked unfortunately he can't go anywhere near flat out anymore because when he does he does a string or a calf. Time to hang them up at t h e end of the year along with Redden Hurn and JK.

Loss was predictable no suprises whatsoever. Get used to it going to be happening most weeks.

Hopefully we give Hough Clark Chesser when he comes back plenty of games

Positives:
  • No long term injuries - Yeo is out for a week I guess but thats not as a bad as it could have been
  • Another week for Shuey, Darling, Kelly to shake off the cobwebs
  • Witherden seemed ok, has a future i suspect still
  • Strnadica - maybe not the worst option for ruck
  • Gov comes back next week, he can pair up with Barrass and Harry E comes out

Negatives
  • Its going to be a long winter
  • I cant see where the next win is coming
  • Havent seen any obvious changes to the game plan
  • Rioli and Ryan have lost their spark

+ 2022 Draft. The way it’s going a top 5 pick is on the cards, hoping for bottom 3 because surely we’re not ****ing dumb enough to trade down a pick 3 or 4. Draft a pure Mid. Plain and simple.

+ Strnadica did some nice things. Hopefully he can build on today’s performance.

+ TK played his heart out today. Has been called out in the media all week and it looked like to me he gave a shit. Shame the rest of our mob didn’t.

+ Greg Clark 25 possies and 7 tackles in the twos, with Yeo out surely he gets a call up next week.

- Can’t run or won’t run? Who gives a shit? They sure as **** don’t so neither do I.

- Has there ever been a worse side for laying a tackle?

- When I hear Nisbett say shit like O’Brien has his job for as long as he wants it I want to pull my hair out. Tells me all I need to know about how cushy Nizzy feels in the top spot and how the “boys” will look after each other. No one should have a job as long as they want it. NO ONE. Perform or **** off. Accountability starts at the top, so when I hear that from the top.......well that speaks volumes to the current attitude of our footy club.

That's what he is though. He was a key forward as a junior and at WAFL level. Whether he is good enough at AFL level is another story. He had interest from other clubs last year but apparently didn't want to leave.
He's not tall enough at 191cm to be a key forward or mobile enough to play any other role. A brilliant move by our list manager to lock him up til 2023 on a 4 year deal.

Also, this got brought up last week on fox footy and its obvious watching the game live: Duggan is getting lost in the zone

He either
i) doesn't know who his direct opponent is
ii) is standing in the wrong position
iii) both

Time and time again he was poorly positioned which led to scoring chains resulting in goals
Didn’t notice this and still regard Duggan as a good player but the same applied to Rotham and he has gone backwards so this must be some instruction on their role by the coaching staff or they are simply trying to plug too many holes. Foley too has not improved at all and Nelson the same. The ball comes into the backline too easily as there is no pressure forward or in the midfield.

The notion of Simpson not holding his favourites accountable for diabolical performances, constantly scapegoating young players whilst backing in his underperforming seniors, isn't a new thing.

People have been saying this has been going on for years. Seems everyone is getting on board the idea suddenly in 2022 because we're finally paying the price for building a culture which doesn't reward performance. Instead relying on credits, contract length and name, which constantly let's fans down time and time again.

Made ya bed, now lie in it Nesbitt. Hopefully you get hit where it hurts, the club pockets, from it's fans pulling the pin.

I look forward to the next weekly Nesbitt email. Almost as enlightening as the Simpson press conference.

Won't happen.

Simpson isn't allowed to drop the senior players even if he wanted to
Also Redden has been good during the absence of many of our other regulars. Since they have returned they put him on a flank or wing…..he is probably our best inside mid. Having said that, he certainly can’t be the future of the club at his age so the younger players have to get a crack.

He’s listed at 193 but even that is small for a key forward

He can be 230cm and it wouldn’t make a difference as he has no football brain and limited ability…at least at 230cm we can laugh at him as a novelty like Mason Cox..

If he is lucky enough to somehow mark it or gets a free he always wonders off his line two steps then tries to walk it back after being called to play on and finally just decides a 15
Metre kick backwards or sideways is good enough…

That's 2cm taller than Jack Darling.

And Tony Lockett and Jason Dunstall, for whatever that is worth.

The difference is that those guys probably had a good 5-10kg of extra muscle on them.

Waterman's issue isn't his height. It's pretty much everything else.

Nisbett and the club are paying for the sins of the past. Poor management and leadership over years is the root cause. Coaching is a factor but coaches are the tip of the ice berg. Years of inbred arrogance and a failure to move forward with the primary if not sole aim of winning footy. Far too many distractions and a lack of leadership when things are not on track as evident by the excuses and rationalisation.

It may be ok for the boot studder to be on staff for 30 years now cleaning the moulded soles, but key performance enhancers such as sports scientists and medical specialists need to be refreshed with the best people informed by world leading developments. List management and development must see out 5-10 years and ensure that the list is continually developed in line with a strong and clearly enunciated game winning strategy.

When you greatest achievement is to build a school 1000'skm away and a modest suburban developmenr with a suspect playing surface the plot is lost in a smokescreen of jumbled priorities.

Darren Glass was an inspired recruiting on mangy levels as a very smart manager and leader. He left to lead the WA branch of a very innovative technology firm with an industry leading business model. I have recently had a dealing with them. I wonderoif Darren was drawn to this forward looking environment after seeing how WC was living in the past within its own bubble?

This problem was created over many years and will take time to fix. Players look to not care, they may not but it is hard for a player playing above their ability when they have failed leadership arround you - on and off the field.

The players just don't care, we got belted last week, and came out this week and performed worse, that is all we need to know about how this season is going to pan out.

It is playing out with Simmo , much like the end of the Malthouse and Worsfold era, playing their favourites and not prepared to change anything, time for wholesale changes at the club.

Because we’ve had the worst offseason imaginable in a global pandemic?

You’ve been saying this for the past 4ish years - this is hardly evidence for anything, really. It’s very obvious what the reason is for this result, and, believe me, it only confirms what everyone already knows; global pandemics and satanic luck aren‘t exactly conducive to good fitness.
A GLOBAL pandemic is only affecting 1 out of 18 football clubs? How odd.

Sure we have had a shocking preseason with injuries and the releasing of the Covid restrictions meant we had a silly amount of Covid outs- but why did we not see the same issues happen at Cockburn? Maybe Carro was onto something when saying that WC werent taking the threat seriously- the results seem to support that view.
So our S+C team is not to be held responsible for an unprecidented injury run, which has been progressively getting worse over the past few years? Our S+C team is not responsible for our very evident lack of run and fitness? If they are not responsible for that, what are they responsible for?

Its not like this form line of ours so far in 2022 is out of the blue. We have won 3 games since the bye last year. That is likely to be the same tally at this bye round- so 3 wins in a season of footy. But yeah lets blame the pandemic.

EDIT: I think in my post sleep haze I have mistaken a CM9000 sarcastic post for a serious post. I should have known better. Valid points still remain valid points though.

And **** Castore off too, should have ****ed them off after last season. Surely not being able to provide actual football jumpers is grounds to terminate the contract. Then again whoever signed off on the deal originally has a lot to answer for.
That and the god awful song actually says a lot about the culture of the club at the moment. Hey, lets play elevator music at the end of our games, that'll really pump everyone up.
