Gaff won't get dropped because the hard truth is that as much as he has been s**t, the alternatives are more s**t.

In his worst season ever, he is still averaging almost 19 disposals a game. XON is averaging 12.
It's not just about how many, it's how you use them too. I don't think the alternatives are actually worse, I mean at least they can kick 40m so they already have that over Gaff.

JK quoted in Mark Duffield’s latest article saying that he’s not sure whether playing WAFL will do Gaff any good.

I don’t really understand that line of thinking. It’s as though the good of the player is put before the good of the collective.

If you’re playing injured, by all means take a break and recuperate. But you come back via the WAFL once you deserve a recall.

That segment with JK is the worst thing on Duffs show, I bloody love JK but if he’s always gonna back his mates and give the listeners nothing he may as well be dropped from the show, Duff asks him some tough questions, but he always just plays them with straight bat like he’s still in club land.

His best value is explaining what’s happening on the field. Asking him for an opinion on something is next to useless though - he’s too nice a bloke to pot his mates or the club

I’d rather that than him being a bitter ex-player though.

A mitigating factor for Xavier is that he's been playing either as a forward or in a lockdown tagging role.

No, I don't think he'd be doing any better than Gaff in his role either, but worth mentioning.

I'd back an underdone Cole to do a better job on the wing than Gaff has been. Whilst his fitness will clearly nowhere near peak, we know Cole has a decent tank compared to the other Gaff alternatives, and we've seen him do okay when running up and down the ground in the past.

They are possibly hiding players like Gaff (cooked) and XON (just bad) by putting them in spots where they will be away from the play.

I actually thought that Gaff was ok vs St Kilda, but there were massive problems whenever he was lined up on players like Brad Hill on the wing, he can't keep up.

If only NN, Shuey or Yeo had his resilience. 😀

Gave very veiled responses but judging by Rob Wiley’s interview with Mark Duffield this morning I think there are going to be a few disappointed punters on here that expect Gaff to be lining up for the Beagles this weekend.

Sounds like the club are “backing in their man” to overcome a form slump that has now extended for 17 rounds by continuing to play him at AFL level.

More like 17 months.

Disappointed but not at all suprised. Haven't for one second thought they'd actually drop him

Still time to be suprised.....

Hes a good lockdown defender, but like duggan his disposal is a toss of the coin.

Nope. He’s actually a very reliable kick. He’s regularly got one of the highest disposal efficiencies on the team.
