Should have been 8 goals up at quarter time and the whole thing is a lot less tense.

Absolutely shellacked them for the first 40 minutes everywhere but between the big sticks

I'd be interested in seeing how Adelaide's pressure ratings looked, they had significantly less tackles than us but it looked like we never really had much space to work with and I think that impacted the quality of our inside 50s.

We also never seemed to have a good matchup or a free player inside 50, were they playing a spare back or something? Might have been why they struggled to get the ball up their end.

I think the most important thing for the side is that we didn't give up when they slammed on a bunch of goals in a row, in previous years that would have blown out as we limped to the final siren. This side cracks in for the entire game so we're always in with a sniff.

So unusual when the good part is our pressure. Lots of incomplete games this year but we keep turning up. Loving this font half press. So good.

Forward line needs to get on their bike though and out of each other’s space on slow plays. We also consistently refused to deliver the ball out in front.

But we deserved to win, and won!

Overall thought a very positive night. We applied a team based system which stood up for most of the game, bar maybe 10 minutes. Sure we messed up a bunch of opportunities, but actually a lot less than Adelaide. We all know there are a a number of players not up to it, and we move them on.
Rather have the system stand up and the execution miss, than the other way round.

Forward entries were atrocious which made all our misses hurt even more. The effort and pressure is there but the lapses in concentration and complete lack of skill level will see us in the middle tier of the competition
This sums it up for me. Forward of centre we just **** ourselves over.
But I love Caldwell and Durham. Well done guys!! Beasts!

(paraphrasing) apparently Warren Tredrea says on Adelaide radio that the one decision should not decide a football match. There is 120 minutes in a football game

I was only able to listen to the end on the radio, and they were making a big fuss about the non-call on Draper so I was expecting something more aggrevious.. talk about a hoo-ha over nothing. He was already on the ground, the ball was knocked under him, and then someone jumped on his back.. this was all in the space of less than 2 seconds.. But I'm sure the media will still get hours and hours of material out of it..

agree for drapes, disagree for davey. he didn't do too much i'll concede but he did well with the pressure acts and had some genuine physical moments (including right at the end) which were really important

Lets not let the chase down of Hinge (was great) cloud our judgement for the previous 3/4 where he was scared of his own shadow and stepped back an awful lot from 1-on-1 ground contests.

We aren't gonna hear anything good about our win all week just about this 1 umpiring decision in 2 hours of football

Nothing to talk about, Durham growing with each game, Caldwell playing his best game for EFC. Jordan Dawson should be close to 3 Brownlow votes, Merret doing Merret things.

but nuh, let's focus on something that didn't even happen (a free kick paid that MIGHT have led to a goal)

Also credit to the boys for not being deflated when things weren't working and the Crows were getting a run on it. To be composed enough to steady the game down and then regain the lead going into the 4th showed maturity. Essendon of last year would've dropped their heads.

Bottle it up, enjoy the weekend then look towards Anzac Day.
