AFL Toast RND 6: Win Against The Crows

I can't believe the carry on about the non call. All the same footy people carrying on must not have seen Collingwood in all of their tight wins. They are the masters of not letting the ball out. They are just more nuanced about it. Drapes had a go at it and unsurprisingly he was shit at it. Like everything he did tonight!!
Lucky it didn't cost us the game.

I was only able to listen to the end on the radio, and they were making a big fuss about the non-call on Draper so I was expecting something more aggrevious.. talk about a hoo-ha over nothing. He was already on the ground, the ball was knocked under him, and then someone jumped on his back.. this was all in the space of less than 2 seconds.. But I'm sure the media will still get hours and hours of material out of it..
Nah Drapes dived on it like the ball was on fire. He was lucky Tex dived on his back and put his arm there quick enough just to cause a little uncertainty.

It should have been paid really.

That’s the way it goes though, they got lucky with a few too.

What a ****ing carry on about that. Getting the rule book out while ignoring everything leading up to it and Tex jumping on his back.

I 100% think that should be paid ball. I also know it never has been and never will be late in the game, as the poster above rightly notes re Collingwood.

Hopefully the rules change so they start paying it, as I’ve noticed Carlton doing it too

Jon Ralph saying jones could make way for wright. Guy has no clue 🤣
lol the guy has completely changed how our team looks and will be looking at a serious multi year deal based on the past few weeks. Liked when he went back at the end and there was a high ball - you knew they weren't going to mark it, good players give you that confidence in them.

Should have been 8 goals up at quarter time and the whole thing is a lot less tense.

Absolutely shellacked them for the first 40 minutes everywhere but between the big sticks

i love it how they are all focused on one umpire decision instead of being -20 Inside 50's and -8 scoring shots.

the fact they were even within a scoring shot to win is amazing.

They were utterly belted all game.

It was a bad call at the end but crows got a lot of good calls prior to that.

Dont get the hype and each game further cememts that draper is a weak link. Absolute liability out there. Needs to be dropped.

Forward pressure not rewarded this week but was immense early. Love the young guns and midfield mix atm.

Also not nearly enough love for the skippers game. He set us up early and then nailed the winner. He is a captain and leads this team from the front.

4-2.. bloody unbelievable!!

Bulldogs had 21-9 +ve free kick count last night: ch7 silent. Tonight they bang on endlessly about a 50/50 decision
Free kick counts mean f all to me when the umps are just bad. Blokes go pick up the footy and it’s holding the ball. Blokes drop the footy in a tackle it’s play on. Blokes moving on the mark. Some sling tackles paid others aren’t. The list goes on and on. What’s a free kick in one passage of play isn’t in the next. The umps call it how they like

I agree. I hate it too, but let's not pretend Draper invented that tactic all on his own in the heat of the moment.

I hope the AFL say there should have been a free, make them EAD even harder.

Winners are grinners and the rest can GAGF

Heard a description years ago;

An umpires job is to oversee a game not control the game

Unfortunately AFL has so many moving parts and grey areas that comes down to the eyes of the beholder.

How long did we actually hold on for? Five minutes under extreme heat? Controversial finish or not, that takes some serious mental fortitude under serious pressure.
We weathered eight minutes of football after Martin's goal put us to 78. Same sort of desperation that won us the Saints game.
