The ABC may not be in India, but I have found a replacement of sorts.
The blog website, 'The Roar' is doing a synthetic broadcast a la Test Match Sofa out of England for England matches.
It is a light-hearted but informative commentary from a bunch of blokes who simply seem to love their...
Surely Wheeldon and his cronies don't think a computer can provide the detail that Ken's statistics did. He was able to tell you how many kicks were effective, how many were turned over and things like the number of boundary throw-ins etc, etc. Yet another example of Wheeldon being too big for...
Glenn Mitchell was one of the best going around. Knew his stuff & painted an accurate picture of what was happening. Plus, his rapport with KO'K was a highlight of the coverage. None of the other guys seem to be able to bounce off him like Mitchell did. Shame he is no longer there.
I agree. Especially Glen Mitchell. Knew the game and certany prefer him to Drew Morphett. His combination with KOK was priceless. Knew how to play the straight man perfectly.
Well done to Claremont and in particular Marc Webb.
Took over a premiership team and led them to consecutive flags.
Not always as easy as it sounds.
Congrats.
Can't see what the hatred from some is about. I reckon he is the best going around at the moment, along with DC.
He calls the game accurately, without bias and he doesn't get sidetracked talking crap like so many of the TV commentators do nowadays!
I admit Middlemass can call but I find it very odd that ABC management has him hosting their major two-hour radio sport talkback show each Saturday.
For those in the 'east', Sportstalk has been an institution down through the years, hosted at various times by George Grljusic, Dennis Cometti...
You got to feel sorry for Clint Weeldon in the ABC sports office in Perth.
For many years he lived in the shadows of Glen Mitchell, a bloke George Grjlusic called 'The Oracle' because of his encyclopedic knowledge of sport.
But when Mitchell resigned after a mental breakdown last year he was...
He seems a bit pompous and self-righteous at times but he does know his stuff. Good journo.
Just wish he would speak normally. Had enough of the pointsssssssssssss & Catssssssssssssssss etc.
Can anyone please tell me what Eddies's much hyped scoop was all about?
I didn't see the sjow on Wednesday night and just remembered all his poturing about how it was going to be a bombshell for the AFL.
Anyone??
No great loss. Always seemed to have a massive chip on his shoulder after his demise at St Kilda. Did not appear all that balanced at times in his comments.
Have to admit the ABC coverage in WA has been sadly lacking since Glen Mitchell moved on. Can't cop Weeldon's nasally tone and he seems largely up himself but lacks substance. And the other bloke, Corbin Whoever is a little to opinionated for a young bloke. Just needs to call the action and...
Fox Footy and Channel 7 could do a lot worse than employ former ABC commentator Glenn Mitchell. He calls the match as it is and doesn't use nicknames or talk about mindless crap. Always unbiased and knows his stuff. Seems to have all the relevant info at his fingertips. Has plenty of TV...
