Recruited from Dandy Stringrays off top my head :thumbsu:
Parker and Sloane are the two I'm hoping the Saints push hard for when their out of contract in 2016.

Take a KPF with first round pick, Wright, Durdin, Mc Cartin.
Duggan or Miller with second round pick.
Trade for Gold Coast's second round pick 30-34 (Gilbert), i can't see them having much use for it, i think they'll go into the draft with their two first rounders, upgrade Boston with a later pick and take a zone selection with a later pick.
My opinion on Armo has changed a bit this year i was all for trading asap and still would if the price was right, maybe a pick between 15-19. Anything less than that and its not worth it.

If we traded for GC's second rounder we could try packaging it up with our second rounder for a first round pick. Then use our first pick, the new first pick and then later picks to upgrade Eli and maybe Weller.

About time everyone jumped on board the Luke Parker bandwagon! The kid is a star, been saying for years that he was one kid we should have tried to poach whilst he was still young and "unknown".
Same...And was out of contract at end of last year too :(

Sorry mate, I grew up with the sloanes and am good mates with his older brother, despite the whole family being diehard saints fans (Rory too) and wanting to see him in a saints jumper it's never going to happen. He'll never leave Adelaide.

We had the chance in three drafts for Sloane as did every other team, all passed until Adelaide.

Funnily enough there was only 1 club Rory wanted to interview him and we were 1 of I think 3 that didn't.

And just another quick funny thing, before the Adelaide match a few weeks ago one of my mates sent him a text with a picture of Lenny with the caption 'Lenny is gonna smash you', Rory replied with 'god I love Lenny, I'm not gonna tackle him I'm going to cuddle him'. He still loves the saints!

that sucks

Rahul how does Brayshaw stack up compared to other top mids taken in the last few drafts? I'm starting to think we need to stack the midfield and worry about talls via trades and FA when the time is right. Its a real concern our lack of mid depth and the fact Lenny is still our #1 performing midfielder at 34!

Do we think the next 2 years of lowly ladder position and high picks is enough or do we need more?

depends on the talent we get, who is available, and if we can snare guns like Shiel for example. Probably should try to trade for a couple of KPPs, eg Jaksch, and throw huge money at Boyd, Patton, Lynch and Day (try and snare one of em).

Interesting quote on big Paddy McCartin from yesterday's Metro/Country game;
They shared five goals, with McCartin’s raw power impressing AFL talent academies manager Mick Ablett.

“It’s like tenpin bowling when he crashes packs,” Ablett said of the man some clubs rate as the best spearhead in the draft.

Helloooooo nurse!

:D

*and he's not even 195cm+

Guess that rules him out to be drafted then mate ;)

Brett Anderson nominated McCartin as the likely current #1 pick on SEN yesterday. Apparently Paddy skittled a few Vic Metro kids & slotted 3 goals in a Jonno Brown like performance.

A mate (hello LP) who has a close friend in recruiting at one of the Vic power clubs, says his mate reckons Wright is still clearly #1.

At this stage I think McCartin probably suits our forward structure better (especially if Rhys Stanley is to be in red white & black in the long term). I love what McCartin potentially brings to the table but am very nervous about his reported kicking yips. Are they as bad as reported Rahul ?

If we do get the opportunity to draft Wright then you'd assume that Rhys will be moved on. I can't see how we could have 4 200cm+ blokes in the same side whereas having Hickey & Longer rucking & drifting forward, with McCartin playing the Jack Darling deep forward role & hopefully Spencer roaming everywhere is pretty enticing.

Rumour on the Dogs board is they are willing to give their first rounder this year for Sam Reid of the Swans.

Was considered on of the young KP 'to watch' but had a quiet 2013 due to injury after 31 goals in the 2012 premiership year, in just his 3rd year on an AFL list.

Hard to say if he has more upside as someone in the 6~10 ish range, but would be more of a sure thing due to having proved himself at the highest level.

Thoughts?
