Their best mid doesn't want to play there anymore. Maybe they need to examine why. We might see them in the finals in say 8-10 years.

I doubt anyone would be happy with that scenario and the AFL would be likely to come down hard in anyway they could. You could potentially renegotiate once he started at the club though, but the contracts usually go for longer and for more in that situation. The player agent would have to see a benefit to their player.

Yeh, I was trying to figure out if the contract was fixed for the full period.
That is: it could be revisited should circumstances warrant.

Oh how I’d love it if we just said thanks and ghosted them on the second deal. Who would they complain to? Oh we had a tampering deal worked out but the saints wouldn’t do it.

If Collingwood can say they traded for Mayne by mistake surely we can say Adelaide just became confused during negotiations, what a laugh and who would believe that rabble.

I doubt they will match. We will use a first this year so we can trade next years. The weekend has been used to sort out some follow up trades. Would not surprise me if the Dogs are somehow involved. They need points for their NGA player so can downgrade their first.

I think the insinuation was that the club got their wires crossed and they weren’t all on board or on the same page.

His dad was pretty annoyed some threats were made, payouts talked about. He’s made a success of it now and all’s forgiven but it was laughable, most of the coverage is blocked by the Huns paywall.

Just one other thing. All this, "he loves the club", "he wants to leave the club" is all so much tosh. Very few players love a club like a supporter thinks. There are some, but most see it is a business opportunity. It's a profession.

Crouch will come to us and play his best, Crouch will walk back into Adelaide and play his best, it matters little to most players. He wanted 5 x 600, he gets 4 x600 with triggers. he plays well for four and he activates the triggers whomever he plays for.

Enough of the he loves/hates the club, it is irrelevant to this business decision

They are just deluded enough to think we had to pay him enough to get band 1 compo for them. Like that should have been our aim, when Lethers has said all along we’re going the free agent route, obviously realising there was a chance we wouldn’t get him.

Honestly, as good as an addition as Crouch may be, we’re not talking about losing out on Fyfe or Dusty here.

Doesnt sound like we will. If he does get another chance, it's likely to be at Sydney.

Pretty sure is still contracted to Lions until 2022. Probably not on a lot of coin there as only got his chance this year with injuries to Andrews and Gardiner.

The other day Matt Rendell said Collingwood are over a barrel. They will contribute whatever a club asks them to pay (to a certain point) which he thinks could be up to $400,000 pa.

Collingwood will at least be saving something on their cap. That’s all that counts. They are desperate.

Makes sense. The draft pick they get is a bonus.
