Ben Hobbs continuing to dominate, Josh Ward very good for VM, 2 mids elevating their draft hopes big time.
Is it being streamed somewhere that we can see?

My take on the 1st VC vs VM trial game.

Ben Hobbs clearly the B.O.G. and has to be pushing for a top 10 spot on today's dominant outing, Josh Ward very good for VM and likely pushing for a 1st round spot.
For VM liked the games of Finn Callaghan big rangy outside mid, Mitch Owens (Saints NGA), Luke Cleary, Jake Soligo, Corey Preston and Blake Howes.

For VC Zavier Maher really worked into the game the longer it went on, Sam Breuer, Josh Rachele, Sam Conforti and Marcus Herbert all had good moments

If this season end up being a hub in Melbourne for the remaining of the season*, the Hawks and North game will be in Melbourne instead of AO so we will be a big chance to loss both of them given we play sh*t in hub for a young team.

Only one loss away from pick 2 now, haha. Percentage really close for the teams from 12th down to 17th, too. Could be a very fascinating end to the season at the bottom of the ladder!
Pick 2 would be elite. Horne might be a good chance there.

Especially off a 5 win season where we've rolled two top 4 teams.

Depending on how we got there, would be a genuine heist.

So we're all praying to tank, to get #2 while Horne still goes #1? What's the sense in that? Obviously all our hope is on Roberts now with #1 out of the question. No way we're drafting a Vic ******* at #2 who will almost certainly leave. If we had #2, we might as well trade down to #5-6-7 and get Roberts next best SAussie.....or, just do what we're doing, knock off some teams, get some wins in the kids and still take Roberts at #5-6-7.

That's why knowing NM have #1 then who cares if we go #2-7, we're still circling the same bloke, Roberts.

After Daicos, Horne, Sonsie and Roberts so will GCS draft another midfielder in Roberts?

It's very possible that North might bid on Daicos at pick 1, then Darcy at pick 2. Would be a bit embarrassing for the AFL if it went that way, but so long as the pick 1 goes to a Victorian team, they won't change the rules.

You do have to wonder how the Dogs will match when they only have pick 17 and then 72. We might be able to offer one or two of our second round picks to assist them...

Meanwhile North could easily go for Sonsie. Vic Metro, elite mid. Would be a good fit. Just happens to leave Horne for us if we do the right thing over the next few weeks..

Horne shouldn't go pick 1 if the bottom side is serious they have to bid on Daicos with the Pies certain to match then take Horne is the scenario I'm predicting

A question for those who watch the kids:

Given our future midfield is likely to consist of:

Laird
Keays
Schoenberg
Pedlar
Berry

+ possibles
Hately
McHenry

Which of the top prospects are the best fit?
No brainer for me - Matty Roberts.

Couple of points of difference. Firstly he’s a lefty which adds some balance in and of itself.

But also he’s a raking kick and will deliver deep inside 50. Matty is the consummate inside / outside hybrid comfortable in either role - so can be released by those you mention and drive us forward. He’s a better kick than any of those listed.

Can hit the scoreboard too - more a goal kicker than those listed, other than Pedlar

Depends how interested in Roberts the Hawks are - Hawk BFers seem to like him and Hawks have shown they're willing to draft players injured in their draft years (like Burton, granted he was a much later pick).

Also, remember our position also affects our r2 pick - if we have pick 2, we also have pick 20 (subject to FAs compos) vs pick 7 and 25, Could give us the chance to pick another good mid (maybe Draper, etc) or improve our pick trade stock.

A question. With our 2nd round pick..would you think it better to trade for say lipinski or dawson or try to go for say an Arlo draper if he is around that mark. What is a better approach for where we are at

For a point of difference perhaps Finn Callaghan though he is a Vic Metro lad.
