Are our options tonight as follows?

1) Use picks 69 and 79 to pick up two players at the end of the draft.

2) use one or more of next years picks to move up in the draft tonight.

3) Use pick 69 and then use our other pick in the rookie/ mid-year draft.

4) Use both our picks in the rookie draft/mid-year draft.

I think we will prefer the flexibility of option 4. What do others think?
If we can’t get a deal for our F2(NM) + F3(Coll) for a pick in the low 20s to get Barnett as our 2nd pick, then we should seek to trade our F3(Coll) for a pick in the low-mid 40s for our 2nd pick. 3rd pick would be a Rookie/SSP. I can’t see the point in giving a low Pick 69ish a 2-year contract at this time.

Anything else this year would likely require more complicated future Pick swaps to provide the draft collateral needed for better picks tonight.

Best result might be Michalanney, Pick 42ish and a project rookie (or SSP). Then we have our F1, F2 and F2(NM) all in place to trade/draft next year, with our F1-24 & F2-24 in the mix too. Hopefully the 2024 and 2025 season salary caps are being well planned to go big at the trade table.

Bundle up 69 and 79 for 68 😂

We aren’t giving up both F 2nds for anyone left in this draft.
FWIW I don’t think we will either

I don’t think a team will accept a sole future 2nd for one of the early second rounders either though, if we want Ryan/Barnett/someone else we’re gonna have to give up more than that

Ryan doesn't look that quick for what you'd want from a running hb
Kind of agree with you re his speed

Tests similar to Brodie running a 3.01s 20M - so that’s not slow ( but not quite express )

Also ran a 6.16sec 2k so the speed / endurance package is prob the important thing

He’d be top 3 at club in 2km and likely top 25% 20M sprint

Who are the Top 10 tall mids with skills in 2023? We need two of them.
Hard to judge since the bottom agers usually play flank roles in bottom age year

Eg the consensus no 1 played alot of half back but will play inside mid ( Harley Reid )

There are a heap of talls including gun rucks ( better than this years ) from WA / QLD

A uniquely brilliant small forward in Watson

Likely gun key forward in Reid ( bro of the Essendon Reid )

The high rated SA boys are Moir / Declean who played as half forwards and Patton who is a half back

I think the mids will emerge more as season gets going

Kane McCauliffe is already a monster of a kid...;)

Probably another 3rd tall defender at the main level IMO

Didn’t really love his midfield nous and awareness when played there

Fair enough, thanks for the insight. Midfield nous and awareness a bit hard to ascertain from highlights and on paper he seems like an intriguing prospect.
