how often does a team take a player who has nommed a club in the PSD. It’s pretty rare.

How often does a reigning bnf winner of a finals team in his prime end up in the PSD?

A: Never.

Dunkley actually being in the PSD would be utterly unprecedented.

And the feeding frenzy of clubs willing to roll the dice on taking him would be equally unprecedented.

Jack martin is 10% of the player dunkley is- and he needed a million on his head in year 1 (30% of his whole 5 year contract) to get where he wanted to go.

Suggesting a 1.2mil price on dunkleys head gets him to morrabbin via the PSD is bananas.

The craziest part isn't that other teams would pass on him, it is that he would nominate us in the first place. With the exception of GWS, we are literally the least desirable destination in the competition.

We actually have to wait until 3pm for anything to happen lol. It's kind of embarrassing following the AFL sometimes. We're like an attention starved younger brother to the NFL. They actually generate natural excitement for events, we have to add embargoes and roll out insufferable Damo and the boys to bring in any kind of interest. Honestly some of the stuff the league does is cringeworthy.

We missed finals this year.

So you need improvement to come from either the draft or existing players.

Clark would be a player we all expect takes the next step and elevates us.

Removing him and not replacing him in one summer weakens us
Clark is one we have been expecting to come good , however who is to say he will - we also have players like Coffield , Hayes , Bytel , Byrne , Connolly , Sharman , Higgins , Battle , Paton , King , Windhager , Owens , Milera , Allison we are hoping to take a step up - but then again not all will not.

We have a hell of a lot of improvement to come from in the team it self - last year we all know we only had 4 players who you could say had a good year - Sinclair , Crouch , Steele and Wilkie so guys like Hill , Marshall , Howard , Butler , Membery , Gresham etc have all got improvement in them.

I hope you are not one of the posters who will lose their mind if we trade Clark this arvo if that’s how you feel.

Horx -> Jaeger
Cats -> Stephens
Freo -> Meek
Pies -> Henry

Horx <- Meek/Stephens
Cats <- Henry
Freo <- Jaeger
Pies <- Picks

Can see some form of this deal happening

They would know everything about Clark - all his KPI's and data and if they offload him they have there reason's .
I would leave it to the experts at the club - they make the call not us.

Since Richardson left the club it seems we are heading in the right direction - might not be as fast as we want but it takes time and people going crazy about not bringing anyone in , must realize we want class and if nothing is available in the trade period we hit the draft.

Why are we the least desirable place in the comp... because we havent done a huge amount of deals THIS trade period? We have been heavy trade players for three of the previous four years (last year excluded). We need talented draftee's, this is the only place we can get a future DeGoey.

We need this sort of player! We have enough soldiers, WE NEED MATCH WINNERS! Apart from Dunkley, Rankine, Toranto and maybe JHF in the future maybe (Grundy is not a Match winner anymore) name the 27 and under x-factor match winners that have been traded this trade period. Griffin Logue? The Bowes deal would have been great, but no...

We will only get the players we need in the draft, even then its guess work, but those players are not out there in this trade period.

There would be supporters that fit in with your narrative. But it wouldn’t be close to 95%.

I mean it's a lot of the supporters I know. All my family are like that except me, one of the mates I go to games with is a bit of a nuffie too but the rest just do it for fun. Most of them probably won't remember Windy's name next year.

Nothing like generating a bit of artificial excitement to really milk it for all it's worth.
Thank god they extended the trade period to cash in on more advertising on trade radio and stay in the headlines for another week make sure clubs could fit in all this exciting wheeling and dealing!

Yep it's really just about understanding who the target audience is... and realising that if you're posting here, you probably aint it.

Yeah this shit is idiotic. Are people really on the edge of their seats waiting to see where Rory Lobb ends up?

Ah yes...wheeling and dealing...the catchcry of the esteemed journos.

We set the criteria pre season about what he needed to do to get an extension. The timeline for it was also never post season because no club is going to willingly put themselves in a state of uncertainty for players/staff making decisions on their future or leave themselves vulnerable to having the coach they want poached just to appease a few.

So one we felt he ticked off that criteria, we extended him like any well run organisation would have.
Pretty dumb process to set a meaningless mid year KPI.

We’re 4th in July, that’s when premierships are won and success is measured.

You seem to think it’s a completely reasonable process because it’s what’s generally done. There’s no uncertainty, ratts had a contract to the end of the year. You’re valuing perceived “stability” over the output, can’t say I understand that.

Cool so just do nothing again? Don’t try anything? Just keep on not winning shit and not getting players.

Cool.

Let’s say we take that port deal.

We have a weaker list in 2023.

Walsh stated our aim was finals. 7-8th on the ladder is believe is what they are targeting.

There is every chance a high end kid comes in and plays his role and contributes. Having nothing makes that harder.

Doubt we really believe we are a finals side though. Nothing about the way we are operating in the off season says finals.

If we do well in the draft then it will have been a fine trade period. We got something decent for Long. We haven't lost anyone of note (assuming Clark stays).

We have three picks that will probably match what we picked last year after the bids, if not better. We need a great draft, that would really set us up to attack future trade periods. If we can nail our picks in the draft then we will have a really nice crop of youth coming through.

Is Clark out a weaker list in 2023? he did close to nothing last year and we add Coff this year. I'd take the future 1st from Port for him

And we were shit. If you want to repeat this year with most sides around us adding heaps of talent then it's a perfect plan. GC, Essendon, Adelaide and Port should all be better. We have to keep up and still improve or we could lose ground.
