I’d imagine it’s hard when you could have had Rachele and pick 5 this year from the crows along with your pick 1

Ifs and buts, candy and nuts. They could have done a pick 1 split but JHF under 18 year was a cracker, now unfortunately his stocks gone down a little and their club seems to have a shockingly timed leadership drama. Get 2 first rounders and sort out the coaching/controversy before the draft.

The hit rate of the number 1 pick is pretty low, particularly when you consider how highly valued it is.

Since 2000, probably only Roo, Hodge, BJ, Cooney and Walsh have been worth the pick.

Hindsight would say that North should have trade 1 to Adelaide last year, but if Port offer 8 and another top 10 pick, I'd say take it and run. I wish that we'd done something similar in 2014 with McCartin
??. Trac should have been one. Juh will be a gun. Daicos the real number one is a star. Weitering is a gun defender. Raynar is above average. Stopped looking further at this point. Essendons year with Mcgrath can be excused as it was a bad year. Rowell did his knee after starring.

This is all hypothetical.

But if we got 8 for Clark.

I wonder if we could move 9 for 2 teens picks and move one for Sinn + keep a late teens pick?

Out: Clark + 9 + Long
In: 8 + teens pick + Sinn + late GC second rounder
Good trade, but I’m sure Norf will want something more in return on top of #8.

My hypothetical would look something like:

Pick swap:
#9 + #F2nd to GWS #12 + #19

Trade: Clark +#19 + Long pick (25 or 32) to
Norf #8 + Sinn

Out - Clark, Long, #9, #19
Trade hand #8, #12, #27, #46, #81

Now I know players are usually able to stay mates with their former team mates when they leave but you’d think this scenario the players would hate his guts. Wouldn’t be many invites to the post game holidays for him

Without knowing what is going on behind the scenes, Horne-Francis has given the impression he wants to get out of North since he got there.

There were rumours he sooked it up when David Noble gave him a few hard truths.

That sort of attitude within a club can be toxic. North just need to get him out of there and have lads playing for them who want to be there.

You genuinely never know what can happen in the course of a year...
Well, I mean, I’m fairly certain I’m not going to become an Olympic gold medal winning supermodel by end of 2023… soooo….

You only had to take one look at Quagmire to know he wasn’t pick 1 material. Huge Mc Luggage seems the obvious choice in hindsight.

so..we use Pick 7 on Clark, have four years of unlucky injuries and indifferent form, then on the off-chance Norf are stupid enough to agree to it, ship him out for a Pick 8 ...and therefore start again where we were 4 years ago.

Can someone explain the logic in that?
Stav has explained why. Personally would keep, but pick 8 and get a top class mid.
Different list 4 years ago but same issue. We needed pure mids and went for two HBF'ers.

Don't give up on yourself Barrels ;)

Is he genuinely struggling or just prefers to get back home if he gets the chance?
Who knows… but I fear “player power” has become far too great… and we’re heading down the path towards NBA/European football-type mayhem…

Already pissing me off that there’s a chance we lose NWM next trade period if he doesn’t sign an extension.
As long as port or crows don’t come last we should get a good return

Most likely crows
They are the only ones that will have a first rnd pick.

Two top 10 picks next year would be super especially if we have two this year.

It's rare that pick 1 is the best player from the draft yet clubs are usually willing to trade multiple first round picks for it.

I have confidence when things settle down next year Nasiah will re-sign with the club. He might be home sick this year but a girl friend can change things quickly.

Plus I think the Saints are a lot more stable environment than North currently are. Plus JHF would be getting advice from Fabian Francis who has a checkered past and far from a model citizen.

Also as mentioned Port will be giving up this and next years 1st round to get him and Adelaide wont trade out the first round two years running.

Nasiah will follow in JHF steps next year
Potentially.

But according to a Port ITK, NWM is homesick but genuinely loving his time and feels very supported by the club. Whereas JHF has been sooking it up since the moment he arrived in Melbourne and been planning on returning since.

A lot of players grow out of their home sickness in their second year. Hopefully NWM is one of them.
