hayward this year stats is murphy have a look

its straight swap three way hayward grundy mcadam or its nothing maybe throw in a late pick but hayward has been rubbish this year
Hayward is a much dangerous player than Murphy at his best lol, he’s only 25 next year as well

That said, I wouldn’t be upset if we walked away from the trade table if Sydney asked for way overs (which would be likely IMO)

Of course it will include pick 9…

What else do we have to offer apart from 2 2nds or next years 1st?..

Our 2 seconds wouldnt be palatable unless we can flip them for a first from someone this year.. and out first next year would have sydney simply asking “well, he’s contracted, so we might as well hold onto him till next year and then trade him if he still wants to go home”

Getting into a trade negotiation for a contracted sydney player would be fuvkn stupid.. given they would still be pissed about losing Dawson for not even a third of his worth!

They’ll take us to the cleaners.
lol top 10 pick for hayward. I'd laugh and walk out the room.

I'd wait til 2024 if that's how they're gonna be.

Surely we would use Hayward as a defensive running wingman in the Acres/Mason Wood mould. We missed having a good wingman once we realised Scholl skipped puberty.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but according to Tom Morris on SEN James Rahilly got down to the final two for the Essendon List Managers role but has missed out.

I wonder if he is looking to move back to Victoria.

It's amazing that Hayward is both an elite player that we'll be absolutely destroyed for and a player on par with the alleged worst AFL player of all time Lachlan Murphy.

I don't understand scholl. Has good skills but when he gets tackled he just has nfi. Any other footballer would just, you know....... get rid of ithe ball when tackled?

Some serious underrating of Hayward on here.

We often complain about having players who try hard but just don't have the skill.

Hayward absolutely has an elite skills set. Hoping we can use him in a different way to allow him to use it. He has an elite kick and could easily be a 40+ goal a year forward for us.

Odd move, considering you'd think Rahilly would have a fair bit of capital if he was looking to move up the coaches ranks.

Swans fans saying pick 9 or no dice for Hayward, as expected really

In that case, you’d just have to do what Port did with Ratugolea and make sure you keep in enough contact with him so that both parties remain interested (and make an initial promise he’ll be at the club by ‘25, not ‘24

So would I.. but him being contracted and us absolutely reeming them with Dawson.. I just wouldnt even bother going there. He’s not worth committing to and then the potential pineapple.

There is no chance Hayward would be a 40+ goal forward for us. Too much competition between Rankine, Fogarty, Rachele, Tex and Thilthorpe for Will to become that guy here. I reckon his '23 line is a pretty fair reflection of what you could expect if we recruited him, maybe slightly lower goal wise owing to our top-heavy our forward line is. I think for us, the kick is the big thing.

Put him in a lineup that desperately lacks goalscoring options and it could happen though.

Sydney are more delusional than port supporters. I was surprised when port got jhf for what they did.

Pick 8 and 2023 1st for a contracted jhf.

Not to mention Pedlar.

However, I still see him as adding value to our side and thrive as a forward in our system. The facts are, he stays on the park, is only 25 and has scored 25+ goals in each of the last three seasons. If he comes at the right price, he is exactly what we need right now.

Its because he isnt a star mid. So some choose to diminish a career and playing ability. I agree, I think in our forward line he could prove to create a real 7 player threat. Walker, Rankine, Fogarty, Thilthorpe, Pedlar, Rachele and Hayward. Not to mention Gollant on the fringes. It would allow better rotations into the middle with Pedlar, Berry, Rachele etc. I definitely think Hayward would be a massive get.

Now I don't know what Davo's background is - but he has a draft thread on he main board. Could just be throwing darts at the wall

I've been across all the Sturt under 16's and 18's this season.

Ned Atkinson has alot of promise from sturt, but there is a kid from centrals in under 16's Dyson Sharp is going to be a top 5 pick at the rate he is going.

Of all the names thrown up on here, his is the one I like the most

Gollant doesnt play unless one of tex, TT or fog are out..

I did once think that gollant would only play if Mcadam was out as they are both that medium range forward (mcadam isnt that tall but his unbelievable leap makes him play tall).. but Mcadam missed a lot of the year and gollant didnt come in for him..

gollant only played when one of the three talls was out..

Fair point. They are similar players at the moment in terms of production.

I'm not as convinced as this seems more like we're interested in someone for the sake of being interested in someone. A good player, but another forward at a club that's overinvested in goal scorers? Especially as in the near-term, we're not looking at a lot of movement out of our forward line with only Rachele due to get more considerable midfield minutes. You can say Hayward is a marking forward, but that's not something Adelaide struggles in seeing we were 4th in marks inside 50 this year (and we spent most of the year without McAdam).

Honestly I think the only thing that really sells the idea of Hayward is he goes at above 70% KE in a sector where it's easy to be a bad kick. But then, so did McAdam.

Unless we had plans to move Hayward away from the forward line, this just seems a rather odd player to be interested in.

Not sure I agree. I would love to think the idea behind our interest is to free up both Rachele and Pedlar to move through the midfield more. Losing McAdam, given his potential and x factor is a big loss. Hayward, while not a like for like, does help mitigate this loss.

Can play McAdam's role inside 50 and can play Murphy's role outside 50 so neither players are needed anymore......win-win.

Kane last year said we should absolutely go for him and that he has mid potential, which seemed hilarious and random back then.

Maybe our plan all along has been to abolish the midfielder as a role and instead just have 10 half forwards rotating through the middle at random.
