Yes, spitballing. Just interesting to me that Burgess nominates us under contract, and Chols salary is up for grabs. I know we have something on the table with them that didn't include 9, maybe this is the push?

Is he though?

He's 28 in a month's time and can't get a game at Gold Coast, I'm not sure he's an upgrade.

If this was a delisted player who we get a free hit at as a rookie then I wouldn't mind, but our list spots are at a premium. My concern is that we look like moving on Borlase because we don't have room on our list, but then we're bringing in this guy.

It also doesn't leave much room for other trades so I suspect that moving on Burgess means that we're out of the race for Chol.

I get all the reasons people put forward ( but I am in your mindset) but by nominating us , as a 1 year upgrade - are we still going to offer a 3 year contract?

Surely his manager is pushing 3 years

Selling the farm..we are likely ending up with 4 x 2nds from mcadam and doedee +20 and 22 that we have. 9 + 20 + mcadam pick for 4, chol and burgess ain't selling the farm to get into the top tier of kids in this draft

The restrictions by the SANFL are irrelevant .....just look at the score differentials in VFL matches this year ...some hugely lopsided games

Same issue as the Crows ....having to play every player on the list ...if you have 5 Rucks on your list, the VFL plays them all .....now multiply that by all the AFL stand-alone clubs & add the northern clubs, that have always been weaker leagues pre-VFL expansion

It's all pretty logical, when you break it down

Other Clubs have more weapons to bring to the battle for pick 4 .....you're asking GC to do the work, to convert #9 to a future 1st round pick....their response to that approach is LOL

GCS would be looking for our future 1st, plus this years 2nd round picks (x2) .....it's a question of, do we get the Mid we want this year, and miss out next year ?
