I don't think I've flip flopped so much since following a draft than I have this year. I genuinely don't know anything anymore other than if Armstrong or (unlikely now) Trainor is taken before our picks we are in for a good night.

Watching the gettable interview with Lalor had me desperately wanting him knowing its unlikely now.

I said in the open pool. That was not including Ashcroft

I count 8, Smillie, Lalor, Jagga, Langford, Fos, Draper, Reid & of course Ashcroft. Sure there's guys like Lindsay, Allan, Travaglia etc but they either aren't mids or are in the next group aren't they?

Our second round pick is turning out to be interesting.
If we get a couple of first round mids, then...
Dodson: Ruckman
or
Gross : Forward/Mid
or
Matt Whitlock : Defender Swingman.
or
Hynes : Forward/Mid.

If we could get Dodson AND Gross instead of pick 8 , i might be sold on the idea.

A fantastic individual season from Harvey Langford finally came to an end as he wasn't able to lift his team to victory over the Sandy Dragons who've become the final boss of the Talent League in recent years. He's already taken home the Larke medal, and must be one of the hottest favourites for the Morrish medal which would cap off a glittering season of consistently elite play in which he stepped up at every level and met every challenge along the way.

Yeah yeah cause I was the one that said this right?

"Im confident he will become an elite midfielder at the next level and those doubters will be shown to be a questionable judge of talent when it happens."
If the hat fits?

How many players have you written off as not making ii at AFL level - they are lucky you have NFI as the clubs wouldnt select them.

I remain unsure about Langford. I am inclined to be in favour due just his sheer consistency of performance. I do see some concerns about his ability to move in and out of stoppages cleanly but I think he will work it out.

If Jack Whitlock makes it to our pick, take him.

Twomey has Tauru moving right up in the pecking order.
Wonder if he's one we'd look at.

With Trainor's concussions it wouldn't be a surprise if he moves up. He's a very active tall back. Not your big stopper type.

I really like the projected second round. So many look high upside. Reckon this will be 2017 all over again.

It was mentioned somewhere that apparently we have interviewed Lindsay hard

That metro v country game sold me on him. Before that I thought he was an upmarket Ben Paton. That's stepping up in the biggest match up of the champs. Travaglia too.

We were up on the top level on the Northern stand then from memory, but jeez the old memory fades pretty quick

At least you guys got a few successful periods. We had '97 and the 2000s. I was a kid in the 80s so only knew heartbreak growing up. Ken Sheldon getting the arse was a heart breaker because it was the first time in my life that I thought we were on the right track.

I'm over drafting tall forwards every year.
We have King, Caminiti, Sharman, maybe still Membrey, then Keeler.
Meanwhile our backline is a bit shaky, and if Matt is a good defender and a competent forward, i think he's a good choice for us.

Here it is from the draft/trading forum

"Heard that Carlton have guaranteed Xav Lindsay they'll take him if available at their pick but wouldn't be the first time a club has said that & not followed through. Saints & Swans went pretty hard grilling him in interviews."

Given Lindsay is one of the best kicks in the draft it sounds like a classic Dalrymple pick

Seeing lindsay win the morish made me remember clarry in 2015 coming from nowhere.

Found a phantom guide from august 2015. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/428699/2015-draft-phantom-form-guide

Interesting notes like Harley balic at 7 and matho at 10. Harry Mckay at 20 and Oliver not on there.

I think there's a lot of movement still to come and the best player could be that second rung of mids. Lindsay travaglia hotton could outperform the current top 10 picks.

I think 7 and 8 this year has a chance to get some really good players including if we reach for one that second tier mid or if we can split 8 for 2 first rounders. Either way seems like the kind of draft where dalrymple would do well with the picks we have.

Given his elite kicking (left footer like Gulden) and that he has seemingly transitioned from back flanker (last year) to genuine in & out mid (this year) I wouldn't be surprised now if we pull trigger on him as one of our 1st round picks .... best afield as well in the U18 Champs Metro v Country game .... notes say he has burst from stoppage too ... a need
