If Melbourne are indeed hard for Tauru at 5

It could go ....

Tigers - Lalor
North - FOS
Blues - Draper
Crows - Langford
Melbourne - Tauru
Richmond - Smillie (if rumors are true)
Saints - Jagga

Or

Tigers - Lalor
North - Tauru
Blues - FOS
Crows - Draper
Melbourne - Langford
Richmond - Smillie
Saints - Jagga

Jagga could indeed fall our way at pick 7 ... forgetting about the F-S / NGA bullshit bids

How does Jagga & Allen sound?

Two very different mids
Yeah, look, I’m not going to oppose that.

This is one of the reasons why I want to trade pick 7or 8 for two first round picks.

If we do that we trade out pick 47 as we won't be using it.
Surely it’s really not consideration in what we do with pick 8. Keep it and if the bid comes in prior then trade it out. Albeit list spots will be an issue. I just want to take 6 picks ex-NGA in this draft. Not greedy.

Any of the top 6 plus Allan becomes an excellent outcome and is also very likely.
Best scenario is we simply don't want whatever player slides through and can extort 10 and 20 from Richmond so they can jump Melbourne, or even 10&11 with our future 1st involved if they want it bad enough.

Something like:
Tigs - Lalor
North - Tauru
Blues - FOS
Crows - Draper
Melbourne - Langford
Tigs - Smillie
Saints - Jagga
Tigs - Armstrong
Melbs - Reid
Saints - Allan
Saints - XXXX

Tigs fans will scoff at it but again it's just about how bad they want to jump Melbourne.

Unless you are the Melbourne recruitment team it’s just an opinion. From my perspective, Melbourne don’t have a decent key forward prospect and this Armstrong kid appears to be elite.

I’d love him to slip to the Saints.
“I think”

Clearly expressing an opinion Brian

I wonder if a bid for Hofmann comes before Cole, but it will depend on when the bid comes? Before our pick #32 if we rate and prioritise other players maybe not, but after I think they will be taken. With the 20% discount pick #35 is equivalent to #41 in points. Hopefully we dont have that problem and take 3 x live picks plus the 2 x NGA's.
I would have thought so. But I haven’t followed them all year though.

Best case scenario for us: North pull the trigger on Tauru at 3 (Ashcroft bid beforehand), Melbourne recognise that there's only one other worthwhile forward in the top 10 and worry about Richmond and us, then take Armstrong at 6.

Assuming Finn O'Sullivan, Sam Lalor and Jagga Smith are already gone, we get two of Langford, Draper, Smillie and Reid.

Not an impossible scenario. Melbourne at pick 5 might force North to stay with pick 2.

Or is this all disinformation?

Do Demons prioritise a mid or a tall with pick 5?Maybe what they do influences Richmond.

We have all assumed Tigers will take a mid but maybe they change their minds and fancy a tall on the board that Demons will take with pick 9.

Ducks and drakes happening at the moment.
I’m not sure this whole thing is as predictable as we expect.

I would trade-up to grab pick 2 at any time, but I wouldn’t trade-back from pick 8 until draft night. There could be surprises on the night.

North trading pick 2 for Adelaide Pick 4 and F3s.

Adelaide get in front of Carlton for FOS / Draper. North Melbourne get Tauru.

Seems like a poor deal for North. But if true who are the Crows targeting with pick 2?

It would also confirm North may be worried about Melbourne at pick 5.

It would be hilarious if Carlton then grabbed Tauru at pick 3. We have assumed Blues will grab a mid but I’ve also heard comments on the radio that they also love Tauru.

North are taking a risk sliding down from pick 2.

Exactly we just need to sit on 7/8, it was always a great spot imo and we have futures plus 32 to work with if we want to do deals.

Can someone clarify this for me? If we want to take four live picks, currently 7, 8, 32, 47 and we want to take 3 x NGA / FS picks, don’t we need picks to match other clubs bidding on our NGA guys? If we take the first four live picks our next pick is 85. How do we use that for Cole for example?

Read back a few pages.

We have all the draft capital we need.

Bo Allan interest confirmed

St Kilda, Richmond, Melbourne the 3 non-WA clubs

Unfortunately for West Coast and Freo, I think he’s going to be gone before those picks,” state talent manager Adam Jones told The West Australian.

The Tigers are one of three clubs interested in Allan and currently have four selections before the WA clubs (picks 1, 6, 10 and 11).
St Kilda (picks 7 and 8) and Melbourne (picks 5 and 9) are also interested in Allan, who Jones said has the “potential to captain a club one day”.

The 18-year-old led WA to a strong National Championships campaign in 2024 after being voted skipper by his peers.
“He is a very likeable person and shows genuine care for everyone,” Jones said.

How’s this for a sales plug from the WA state Talent Manager:

In a crop stacked with elite midfield talent, the big-bodied prospect earned All-Australian honours.

“He is so powerful and dynamic, I think he’s only just scratched the surface of his midfield prowess,” Jones said.

“He’s so competitive and loves a challenge. Against Vic Metro, he wanted to go head-to-head with Jagga Smith. He really wanted that challenge. When we faced South Australia, Sid Draper.

“That’s the sort of character that he is and he doesn’t shy away from it. He’ll just take it all in his stride, a super competitive kid.
“He made some really big strides this year (as a midfielder). Potentially he might start his career as a defender but I think he’s got some great scope, with that dynamic power and speed that he’s got, you’d get a lot of value having that in your midfield.”

Having drawn comparisons with Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson in the past, Jones said Allan reminded him of a mix of three superstars.

“There are those super quick and powerful guys like Chad Warner and Christian Petracca, he’s got elements of that ability to have breakaway pace from stoppage,” Jones said.

“But he’s also super physically combative and overhead, he’s outstanding, which is like a Bontempelli.

“There’s probably not one player he reminds me of but he has traits of quality players.”
