You know the win actually could have been culture building? Maybe it's the catalyst for big pre-seasons for our young guys. Maybe if we'd thrown the game a player like Nasiah would become disenfranchised.
I can’t see a world in which the club is worse off for losing a dead rubber home and away game.
When the boys hit the track for preseason I’ll be very surprised if a win at the death against the blues vfl side will be at the front of their mind.
I tell you what builds character, winning games when the season is alive.

Jason Taylor was a function a week ago as a guest speaker and he stated that we would be taking mids in the draft.

For pick 5 I'd be happy with either Langford or Smith.

Pick 9 my choice in no particular order would be Lindsay/Allan/Smillie. I've slowly come around to Murphy Reid even though I'm still a bit sceptical whether his lack of speed holds up at AFL level.

I have heard we have strong interest in Cooper Hynes and reaching him for our second pick may not be out of the question.

Previously I hoped Melbourne picked up Armstrong in the draft at 5 so that we could get another mid slider. Now I just want it to happen to see your salty little tears run down your pathetic little cheeks, your tail firmly between your buttcheeks as you weezle your way back to your own board.

On second thoughts, I think I need to see someone over my hatred of Melbourne w***ers, I mean supporters...

Can’t wait for some snippets to come through, hopefully early in the week. We’re all going mad with cycles of dream scenarios and then into Saints reach at pick 7 or pick a tall forward or HBF and then split 8 for picks 29 and 52.

Or maybe the loss would've driven the players to come back stronger and better

What if the win makes the team come up with some false narrative that they are indeed good enough and they overrate themselves over pre-season thinking they can settle for anything less than 100% effort?

Melbourne semeed to do ok in 2021 after finishing 17th in 2019 and 9th in 2020
Or the loss pushes us to pick 5 and the AFL gives us an end of 1st round compo, the players are disappointed, Macrae decides to stay at Bulldogs and we choose Tauru at 5 and miss out on two quality mids.

At this point we’ve been linked to a dozen players. I’d anticipate if we get Smilie/Langford at 7 then we’ll split pick 8.
I hate the position of 8 in this draft specifically for us and our needs.

For someone like GWS to get whoever you want though. That would be a big plus.

You discount the AFL's secret herbs and spices for FA Compo. Every reason to believe they would push the compo back to end of 1st round if we had 5.

We would've got band 1 if we finished 18th, there were no external factors apart from the contract

I don't think we're fully enamoured as some clubs around the club.

I do like him a lot though..
Or you go the best mid left without worrying about the nonsense of his potential to transition into midfield.

Which is Reid.

Give me big bustling Bo in the backline or the midfield. Those highlights are insane. High leaping intercept marks, ground ball gets at speed, breaking lines and launching score chains from D50, fierce tackling, long kicking to undermanned and unprepared back men. Insane.

I’d spew up if we picked a half back with very ordinary foot skills. I just don’t understand the Allen love at our picks. He has strength and grunt but a huge question mark over him ever becoming a midfielder.
Let’s just pick the best mid at 7 and then reassess.

If we are interested in hynes I reckon that would suggest we might be trading back with gws. I spoke to his dad on Friday night. Said just about every team has been interviewing him. Can’t pin point who is more interested
