If we're going to pay overs it has to be for a midfielder that can get outside the contest and deliver to our forwards or a KPP that's better than we currently have, Hayward at the right price is worth chasing but not for big overs. Edwards is the interesting one for us so all eyes will be on him Friday down at Noarlunga as well as Curtin..
Unless Phillipou comes (and even then he isn’t exactly a proven midfielder yet), hard to see where that comes from, other than the draft

Still reckon we need general best 22 talent on most lines to fill various holes and needs, we should have the cap space to do so

What does it matter if we have a coach that gets his pants pulled down in the coaches box and we have him now for this year and 2 more years. Having quality mids that can break away from a contest sounds great, but if the instructions are to go slow and kick long down the line and play right into the opposition players hands..you could have a team of them and still struggle.

The big improvement will come when (if) Nicks gets his act together ad starts to win his coaching duels with the other clubs. Play to our strengths - not the oppositions

Your boy mcauliffe killing it according to tigers fans

Did you watch some NAB League games on the weekend big bodied mid Josh Smillie had a big game as did Christian Moreas, Jagga Smith. Harvey Langford and Zak Johnson. Finn O'Sullivan was quieter but suffered a hand injury that is going to see him miss a stretch.
Xavier Lindsay who I really like for his all round game, speed, leap, elite disposal and decision making didn't play with Gippy Power having the Bye, Sam Lalor also didn't play and will miss at least another month with injury.
Haven’t gotten around to it but need to, would love to get into that Moraes/Langford/Johnston range. Don’t think we’ll have a chance at FOS/Smilie/Jagga

That’s without even considering Draper/Hargrave, too

True, but it’ll at least help with our direct ability to get a positive result out of a centre clearance… eventually

Matt Roberts is having a decent start to the season, pushing up to 18 touches a game now. His stats suggest the Swans are playing him more as a rebounding defender as well, with a 15:4 uncontested to contested ratio. 2:1 of his touches being kicks.

I thought he would be a hard running stoppage player in his draft year, but with his 60+meter kick, getting him on the end of it could certainly do some damage. Gonna be one i'll keep a tracker on.

I wonder if the Club felt Doedee was susceptible to ACL injuries .....in hindsight, an astute move to not offer a long contract

I personally wish Tom a speedy recovery as it's horrible to see any players dogged by recurring serious injuries. Astute? Perhaps or just the cards were dealt and the Crows had all the chips they were willing to lose on the table?
Ultimately we didn't fall for the bluff, we may have lost that hand but we still have chips in the bank.

PETTY FOCUSED ON DEES’ FLAG PUSH

Is Harrison Petty returning to South Australia a forgone conclusion? Not according to Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph.

The Herald Sun reports that, though Adelaide will “launch a full-on assault” to try and pry Petty back to his native South Australia, the 24-year old could yet remain at the Demons.

It comes after Petty was strong linked with a move to the Crows last trade period — including being part of the Shane McAdam deal — before he remained at Melbourne.

Set to become a free agent in 2025, the Crows reportedly hope Melbourne will trade him this year in hopes of getting better compensated than if he were to depart the following.

That bolded bit is infantile. Why would we want Melbourne to get better compensation. And even if we did, nothing stopping us from progressing straight to trade table in 2025, as occurred with Danger.

Paying picks for a single year would need to bring a flag, otherwise it’s complete waste.

**** that. Wait 12 months and pay nothing for him. They had their chance.

not sold on him at all tbh. Hope we don't throw big coin at him. He can come home for a standard wage as a FA;
But on big coin? no.
Giving up draft capital? no
...I just don't get the hype.

Maybe i haven't watched him closely enough

Talk about the Saints throwing $$ around at mids

LDU is a free agent next year , just give him a blank cheque AFC ffs

If any grain of truth the Gulden rumours we should be throwing everything we can at Gulden and LDU, front load the shit out of the contracts so we’re not caught out down the track

No more 1 deminsional players is all I ask.

For example, no more pure extractors who have bad skills.

At least have 2 elite traits

If you are going to be an extractor either have great skills or break away pace or size

AND please target great 1on1 players.

Rumours? There aren’t no rumours just wishful thinking

I'd be happy to get them any way we can. We aren't in a position to do it perfectly.

A Crouch, Dawson and Gulden midfield with Rachele, Pedlar, Soligo emerging would make a huge difference.
Laird to back pocket with Smith retiring.
