The major problem with the whole 'downgrade and split picks' idea is the only thing Adelaide really needs is high-end midfielders and you're more likely to get that with 4 then 9 and 12.

Oh I agree and in that scenario, we are kicking the can down the road a year in the hope we can have a pick to get Sharpe (who to my eye looks a superb player in the making). It would still give us a crack this year but not at the top end. It was just a thought.

Why would he shift/family/lovers etc just to be DoC

If he is moving he is moving to be a coach. If he does the DoC role he would be undermining Nicks to get Nicks sacked - and would we want someone who does that?

I reckon if Bucks goes back to clubland, it will be to be the coach proper. He wants to be on the podium when his team wins a flag, not in the box clapping along.
