Was confirmed at his meeting yesterday morning

Ross said he didn’t know who Hotton was as a football player

Which is probably fair enough but harsh on the kid given he never really got going due to injury
Not really surprising. Don't think he's ever been an emergency. Doesn't win the ball, rarely hits the scoreboard. Reckon the first year injury killed him.

tbf in stephenson's draft year interview he said his parents used to take him to smorgy's all you can eat once a month to fatten him up, so there's a pretty good chance he has worms. The question is, if we de worm him before drafting him will his body bounce back? or do you think his body is riddled with worm eggs?

Could there be a link between the decline in Stephenson and the shut down of Smorgy's..? Worth looking into as well.

I doubt will be drafting his brother then. A little harsh because he has had his injuries and shown glimpses, but this draft is very good so the club would want maximum as possible picks. Could be just bad timing.

In saying that, I’d keep Hotton over taking a punt on a Sandy rookie.
Oh no, don’t start that 🤣. The Sandy list managers will come for your head.

All 3 gone. Onto the draft...

Sad for Hayes and Hotton in particular. Paton had a fair old crack at it. Hotton injury interrupted and had good patches in the VFL games, never really put together a full, dominant game though. Hayes, just cruelled by injury. Will never forget his debut where he downed the Collingfilth  3 goals, the pass on his left foot inside 50. Very unlucky.

EDIT: We lost to the Filth... Hayes smashing them just made it feel like a win lol

Sad for them.
All 3 careers ruined through injury.
Paton was tracking very well until….Roughead.
Jack got a shot I suppose as a mature-aged pick up.
Hotton never was able to fire a shot really.

See a lot of it though. Freeman, Bytel, so many others.

Good luck to all of them.

so 8 list spots available not counting crouch?macrae and hall already included

pick 7(mid)
pick 8(best available,hopefully a mid)
pick 32(ruck or kpd)
cole
hoffman
peckett
dfa(ruck or kpd)
sandy rookie

some scope to go back or forward with pick trades, some scope to take 4 picks to draft ditching the dfa or one of the three nga/fs?

crouch outcome asap would be nice

Given he was at Sandy all year, can we delist him, then rookie list him and say he was our Sandy rookie for this year? Bit of a loophole?
Been wondering this if there was a delisted player that went back to Sandy. Would it tick the box if we picked them up in the mid season draft?
It’s been flagged on here that any stand out player is probably going to get picked up in the draft and available to any club.
I get what the club was trying to achieve but i don’t think it was thought through very well.
Is there a timeframe of when the agreement ceases?

Crouch won't be delisted I don't think. He has a year to go on the contract, will stick around and try to make it work. Probably won't but you never know.
Would probably be doing us a favour if he just pulls the pin himself. He'd still get paid out and he's not likely to get back on the field anyway.

In hindsight, playing him in round 1 this year was a disaster. We are going to lose a list spot and around $600k for what was a really poor performance.

Surprised with Hayes tbh, thought after TC and Skunks delistings he might get another year. Club is obviously backing in Keller and Caminiti but we’re still light on for key forward/ruck depth now.

Hope Jack gets another crack at it, can see Port letting him train to win a spot. Probably an upgrade on Dixon (don’t think Luko or Georgiades are true key forwards) if he stays fit.

Suggests to me they have their eye on another state league ruck man. Possibly already a commitment.

Just never on the park.

Damn, just ran into Ben Paton at the shops right before this news broke, he’s much taller than I remembered.

Looked like a super promising small lockdown defender before the Roughead incident.

Can officially put a line through Taj Hotton too now you’d think.
Why? Apart from the fact he is recovering from an ACL in his under 18 year, he is believed to be the better player of the two.
