**** off idiot. I posted one opinion which I'm happy to be corrected on. And all the ****wits on this board attack me rather than debate the game.

Seriously Sharma has to be sacked if they lose this series ...losing to New Zealand and his poor form

got to go
Hes surely done after Sydney you’d think. Watching him in this test his body language was poor, some of his field placements were bizarre, his batting is obviously not going well, and on top of all of that it seems like other senior players are doing their own thing at times. I feel for him, but surely, even he knows he’s cooked.

I know it was the wicket that started the downfall but I didn't think the Pant shot was that awful. It was a longhop that deserved to be smashed. Someone like Pant needs to probably see the ball going to the boundary occasionally so he can keep his focus.
Sure he mishit it but the shot was there to be played

The 1st innings shot though was dumb
There are very few (if any) of these innings playing for a draw where there isn't the odd loose shot. Many other swipes were made that could've been costly. The onus is on the bowlers to build pressure and test patience. The Aussies did that.

His body language has always been horrendous though. Just kind of mopes around with a dead expression as soon as India is behind.

Yes his elbow allows him to bend his arm back past straight the problem with it is that he can hold it straight and does so until just before delivery before allowing it to flex right back and then pulls it through to finish straight on release. It's not any different to you or I starting with a bent arm, straightening it mid delivery and then finishing with a bent arm.

No one cares too much because he is only bowling 135km/h not 160km/h
Nah he does everything normally and than on release the elbow and bone bends weirdly in. It looks like he chucks it but he doesn't. He's whole arm goes inside out.
Luck with joints and genetics. No different to.somone been 7 foot tall

Yeah I'm not saying his captaincy was flawless. Just that it's wrong to come out of this match and think "geez you got away with one here Pat". In similar scenarios before things haven't quite gone Australia's way on the final day and the narrative certainly wasn't "bad luck Pat you did all you could".

Like this team he's not an all time great captain or a terrible one. He gives our teams good looks at beating some quality outfits. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't.

Couldn't agree more with this. I was on board with his decision to press on with the second innings, add to the lead and eat up overs. A draw would have been very disappointing from where we'd been in this match at the start of day 3, but I thought to expose the risk of losing, with 100+ overs to get around 2.5 an over would have been an unacceptable one. Obviously it can't be guaranteed that everything else plays out as it did, had we declared with a lead of about 280, but fair to say most of us would have been bracing for the inevitable loss with Jaiswal and Pant cruising along, if it had been early in the second session, with 60 fewer runs to get.

The one result we absolutely couldn't afford to my mind was a loss; I still would have backed us in to get the result in Sydney. It doesn't look like any catastrophic weather at this stage for the fifth test, like maybe they lose about a session's worth of play, all up?

To declare at around that 280-lead mark approaching the end of day 4 would obviously have reduced the chance of a draw and it would have increased the chance of India winning. Would it have also increased the chance of Australia winning? Possibly, but not enough for me to be worth the far greater likelihood of losing.

Of course, it's easy to see the arguments on both sides and during the last stages of Day 4, there was no perfect decision. The captain understood the pros and cons with the possible decisions and made a call, one I happened to agree with. It proved to be the right call, given they bowled the opposition out with almost half a session remaining. He deserves credit for making a difficult call. God knows he would have copped criticism if India finished the day 5/6/7 down, as looked likely heading into the tea break.

You talk celebrations of this magnificent game, (I was there when Hooksey hit the 5 boundaries off Griegy in ‘77)

This event was truly global.

Attendances, TV viewership, it’s hard to get your head around these numbers.

Spent 5 days totally engrossed in a game that became an ongoing milestone on & off the field.

I hope people genuinely appreciate the game for what it is.

& it is a magnificent game.

Whereas Kohli carries on like a demented narcissist.
He is often a flog, but I think he is always fired up and his body language gives the impression he's willing to deck someone to get the win in even a lost cause. Narcissist or not that is better for team morale than the captain openly sulking.

That test contained the best sounding cover drive from Hookes. Have watched this shot a hundred times (starts at the right shot).

I love how we are all at each other’s throats during footy season, yet this thread has united us all.
Cricket the great uniter.

Where else do you see superior St Kilda fans talk to awful Richmond ones.;):tearsofjoy:
Marnus with his thoughts from today
