Re: 3 out whos comming in this week? (predictions)

Hopefully Buckley doesn't play too well against us. I never wanted us to let him go :(

Been very happy with Buckley this year. I see him as the new Ben Johnson. Streams forward from defence to kick a nice goal. Just needs a little more confidence in himself. The more game time the better he will get.

I also see Davis being moved onto the wing (maybe Shaw) to take Daisy's role and Buckley getting the HBF role.

Re: 3 out whos comming in this week? (predictions)

Not allot of possible ins.

Goldsack, McCarthy already playing.

Looks pretty clear that: Fasolo, Buckley and Blair are the best ins. Fasolo deserves to debut based on form and is the energy + excitement we need to beat a Melbourne side who are now up and going and love playing us.

Dick I still wouldn't bring back.

Have also read this: "Coach Mick Malthouse flagged the possibility of tall defender Tom Young, small forward-midfielder Luke Rounds and 204cm ruck prospect Lachlan Keefe as chances to come into the side."

Would be disappointed if any of these are listed as more than an emergency... (Unless Keeffe is a like for like replacement).

If I remeber correctly rounds was close to BOG for us in the twos on the weekend and may get a chance. I could see him taking Krakouer's role and Krakouer/Blair taking Swans role.

Cant see Young or Keefe comming in unless one of our talls needs a break.

Depth really being tested for the first time in a long time.

I reckon Lukey Rounds will be an in. The time has arrived to see what he has got. I think he was supposed to debut last year when Blairy did. Lukey buggered his shoulder.
He played well on the weekend and being there for about 2-3 years? Give him a go i say.

I have been too.

When he first came to Melbourne he had TOO MUCH confidence. He would take on opponents far too often. He wasn't too bad at it but, by weight of numbers, gave away a fair few free kicks and clangers. We rarely played him as a defender though. In doing so, he seems to have a bit more accountability and maturity. He has a long kick but needs to get more accurate, especially with short kicks which are so vital in defence these days.

Re: 3 out whos comming in this week? (predictions)

I wouldn't be disappointed at Keeffe getting a game at all... his form on the whole has been very good and it would be a great reward for his dedication.

Rounds I would be more surprised by, but I'm basing that on 2nd hand information as I haven't seen him play this year in the VFL. Can't say I'd be devastated because I have seen him play some very good games in the past...

Re: 3 out whos comming in this week? (predictions)

Throw Rounds in the deep end I say, see whether he sinks or swims. He is good enough to play AFL even if he hasn't shown that this year in the reserves. Might be the sort of drastic move that puts him back on track.

Apart from the form issue, I don't think it's fair to chuck Rounds in if he is not going to be played in a similar role to what he is in the VFL atm. I don't think we'll be looking to bolster our backline, we'll need 2 mid types and a half forward.
Same reason I can't see Keefe getting a game.

Re: 3 out whos comming in this week? (predictions)

Youre right PB, wouldnt be able to go with him. ;)
Spot on Rude
Considering Watts usually plays behind the ball or on half-back flank I highly doubt Reid will be able to go with him :p

These two inclusions might not be as strange as they sound if it allows Heater to play in the guts.
Keefe has definitely earned a game along with Fasolo, Rounds probably not but he might be brought in to play on Bennell.

Re: AFL Rd. 12 Melbourne v Collingwood @ MCG Monday 13th June 1410 hours

On the Wood/Martin battle, I'd be surprised if Wood doesn't win the majority of the hitouts, but I think Martin will beat him around the ground.

I'd prefer a ruckman who has an impact around the ground and less so in the ruck but I guess the correct answer will be there at 4:30 on Monday.

Re: AFL Rd. 12 Melbourne v Collingwood @ MCG Monday 13th June 1410 hours

This week Snoop Dog is unable to do the Player Review.

As a one off, would anyone like to kick it off.

Maybe first in, first served, but ideal to get it up earlyish post game.

Guess it doesn't have to be confined to one person, but just need someone to kick it off, then others can add their thoughts afterwards.

People with a thin skin, think twice before applying! :)

O'Brien, Tarrant, Toovey
Shaw, Reid, Davis

Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Didak
Wood, Wellingham, Ball

Krakouer, Cloke, L Brown
Dick, Dawes, Blair

Int: Maxwell, Buckley, McCarthy
Sub: Fasolo

Emg: Keefe, Goldsack, ??

IN: Dick, Blair, Buckley, Fasolo
OUT: Thomas, Beams, Swan, Goldsack

MIA: Johnson, Brown, Jolly, Macaffer, Thomas, Beams, Swan

What do some other people think the team will look like this week? I think Krak and Dids will spend a lot more time in the midfield than they have been lately and I reckon Fasolo is a better fit than Goldsack this week as I am bringing in Buckley who had been in great team until he went out of the side. I know it is harsh to leave out Goldy after a subs appearance but I thought all of Toovey, Shaw, O'Brien, Maxwell, Buckley and Goldsack was a bit excessive.

Dick in is contentious I guess but with Krak, Didak, Blair and even Davis probably required to play more through the midfield than they have been with three guns out of the side, we might be a bit light on for small forwards at times of the match.

Yeah there is no way we'll make more changes than we have to, considering that number is already at three we certainly won't be dropping a guy like Goldsack.

IN: Dick, Blair, Buckley, Fasolo
OUT: Thomas, Beams, Swan, Goldsack

Dick is the only in i don't like. He is playing like a dog in the reserves. Won't tackle, can't touch the ball without fumbling and just doesn't look like it at the moment. No doubt he has the ability he just needs to get some confidence back in regards to his shoulders and go hard at the footy.

Would love to see Fasolo start and have jMac as the sub, also if MM is really keen on blooding some youth give Tom Young a run ahead of Buckley.

give tooves a run with role through the middle, sack down back. Dick in would be rewarding poor form

I'm keen to see us blood some youth, if we play youth and lose then so be it, these type of games don't matter come September.

With Swan, Thomas and Beams out I'd give Fasolo, Rounds and Blair a run, I'd even be tempted to rest a Cloke/Dawes/Reid type and bring in Keefe just to see how he goes on the big stage.

As well as these players on debut, it'll be great to see Sidebottom, Shaw, Krak and the like standing up in the midfield. Really looking forward to this game!

This is a very dangerous game. We've really got our work cut out this week. Can't underestimate the Demons right now, they will be confident after the Bombers win and we will be a bit rusty with the inclusion of new blokes, and maybe a bit short of pace. I've been waiting to see how much influence Swan has through his absence. It will be good to see how we go without the big names. My main concern is who stands up if its tight at the end?

Malthouse also flagged the possibility of tall defender Tom Young, 19, small forward-midfielder Luke Rounds, 20, and 204cm ruckman Lachlan Keefe, 21, making their debuts against the Demons.

He said Jarryd Blair, Brad Dick and Alex Fasolo also were pushing for selection.
Sounds Like there could quite a Few Changes for Queens Birthday Clash

Interesting that what appears in the article is already in this thread long ago.

As others have mentioned I'd be shocked if there were more than 3 changes and I'd be shocked if Blair wasn't one of the ins. I think it's more a case of Malthouse talking about the fact that there are a number of guys capable of stepping up despite the injuries we have at the moment.
