Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

We wouldn't be consulting Hart with Adelaide gameplans, as that would do jack shit. What he would know though is the strength and weaknesses, no matter how big or small, of each individual player, especially those in the backline.

It might be which side of the body Daniel Talia prefers, which players we will need to lock down to stop their run from half back. Heck, discussions on which cubicle Graham Johncock likes to take shit in at half time. I do agree though, having assistants who played at certain clubs would do absolutely nothing once the players cross the white line.

I may be wrong, but I don't know that you read the right meaning into the Hart remark. I'd read it as simply saying that times have changed at Adelaide, that when Hart was there, NOT because Hart was there, things were terrible.

Exactly so. The only things that have made a difference between the 2011 form of the Crows and the 2012 form of the Crows have happened when Hart was no longer at the Crows. It is Sanderson & Milburn and possibly even Bailey who have made the transformation in the Crows, since the 2012 playing group is almost identical to 2011. So Hart has no first hand knowledge of whatever it is that has made the difference to the Crows.

This is the main point.

Crows definitely look the real deal. To beat syd at scg and belt cats and blues is great form.

I have seen them last 3 weeks and not only are they hard at it, but are very skillful. Their midfield of Scott Thompson (so underated), dangerfield (most improved in comp), Rory sloane, and a taggers like van berlo who is close to becoming best tagger in the game. Add others like Vince and they are very good. Rutten is still a great defender. Tippet is hot and cold. I am glad walker is out as he kicks them from everywhere. They also have a great small forward in Ian callinan. Also their ruckman is killing it. Is it hampson?

Anyway to us, we can beat them with our mid depth. Swan is massive loss though.Jolly needs to break even in ruck. Keefe can take Tippet but our other defenders need to step up with even a bloke like porplyza. I am worried about van berlo going to pendles but if he is getting beaten, pendles may have to take him forward.

I was more pumped about last week as we had chance to really hurt cats season but this is a massive game. Crows should make top 4 so it will definitely be q big scalp.

Thanks guys for the video clips, didn't even need to click on them to know which games they were and I was at all of them. Bloody still scarred. Was also at Franklin-Massie debacle.

We could also throw in the 08 EF, after St Kilda beat Essendon by 100 pts in rd 22 to kick you out of 4th :p

Or the 02 PF:D

We have a good history, hopefully it's another ripper:thumbsu:

Worse than that show me the St Kilda 05 finals loss that I believe cost us the flag and was the first of Craigys finals debacles.

But I also saw the 97-98 GFs, so you win some you lose some.

I hope it's not a ripper, I hope we smash you:D

Jacobs.

Agree with you, will be a midfield battle that determines the outcome.

A bit like last week, going to be a long week waiting for this game.

Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

OUT: Reid, Swan
IN: Young, Elliott

B: A.Toovey, L.Keefe, H.O'brien
HB:H.Shaw, N.Maxwell, M.Clarke
C: S.Wellingham, S.Pendlebury, D.Thomas
HF: B.Sinclair, T.Cloke, A.Didak
F: A.Fasolo, C.Dawes, T.Goldsack
R: D.Jolly, S.Sidebottom, D.Beams
I: J.Blair, S.Buckley, T.Young
Sub: J.Elliott

Really like elliott, give him a chance as sub, otherwise i would go with Marley Williams. No way we would risk Tarrant, so just gotta cop it down back.
Tippet is the only tall concern, Keefe is a good matchup.
Jenkins has played well but is only in his third game, is not going to dominate Maxwell.
Wellingham will get massive mins in midfield, as will Blair. So expect those two to step it up.

Keefe vs Tippet
O'brien vs Porplyzia
Toovey vs Callinan
Maxwell vs Jenkins
Shaw vs Petrenko

Cloke vs Rutten
Dawes vs Talia
Fasolo vs Doughty
Goldsack vs Reilly

Pendlebury vs VanBerlo
Beams vs Dangerfield
Sidebottom vs Thompson
Thomas vs Sloane

main matchups for mine, want to see clarke tag sloane, but wont happen. Sloane is an absoloute Jet, Clarke would be perfect to match up on him, but won't happen.

Going to be a really tough game to win. Our strength is our midfield, and without Ball and Swan, they will beat us in contested ball. Vince, Dangerfield, Sloane, Thompson, Vanberlo can all win their own ball.

Rutten always plays well on Cloke. I am confident in our defense, despite the amount of injuries, however expect a 4-5 goal loss.

Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

It's refreshing to see this board actually discussing matchups with your impending rival. Last week was interested in the Carlton board prematch thread and blow me down if in 20 pages you could read more than a couple of posts that even mentioned matchups. Most of the discussion was just about their own side, most thought they would beat us easily, it was weird to read, knowing our previous 2 games were good wins against Sydney and Geelong.

At least there's some mutual respect between our clubs and this game will be no different.

Not sure of this, many were conceding the game as a write off and were surprised at the odds.

But yes, should be a great game. You have the wood over us, but the games are rarely a one sided event.
You have no fear of AAMI nor should you.
Is a mouth watering contest and cant wait.
Heres hoping for a cracker :) (or possibly a first half blow out in our a favour which will save me having a heart attack as the game unfolds :thumbsu: )
Good game, no injuries please

Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

Im going to adelaide for the first time this weekend for the footy, and i was just wanting to know if they still let the fans on the ground after the game. I hope so it will be good to take on some crows fans!!!

yes you are allowed on the ground approx 10 minutes after the game

Only if it's dry - if it's been raining and the ground is wet, the after game kick-and-catch is canceled for Health and Safety (read: insurance and litigation) reasons.

lol. Without wanting to take the wind out of your sails I'd have to say with both teams at full strength there wouldn't be too much talk about match-ups. I think realistically most Pies supporters will be going in with precious little confidence given our outs. We all saw what happend in Q4 on Friday against a sadly out of form Geelong outfit. Don't even be too surprised if Pendles doesn't make the trip given he limped off the ground on Friday and if he can't come up I suspect Bucks will consider resting Jolly too for the bigger picture.

It's really a numbers game IMO and at this point I believe your mob has them and they're playing pretty well. The only upside for us is that we have 3 byes in a row after Sunday's game and hopefully our season will finally kick start after that. By then we should have Reid, Brown, Swan and Tarrant back and a few others like Thomas and Dids running into form.

No Taz. Confirmed by Bucks.

Collingwood FC ‏@Collingwood_FC
Presser with @ncb_cfc: Taz will play a few more weeks in the VFL b4 he is selected. http://twitpic.com/9ntpo7

Yep. Hammering imminent. Still glad Bucks isn't rushing players back. I'd expect Reid out until after the bye too.

Lol I bet you hope that but this week you'll have an opposition team that aren't shit scared to put the head over the ball so don't expect a walkover. :D

Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

I just had a look at the expected forcast for Adelaide on Saturday and it says "Shower or two".
Added to that, AAMI Park is always a little slippery and duey at night.
So having one less tall down back might not hurt us as much as previously thought.
This should help us with our run out of the backline from Shaw,O'brien etc.
Hopefully this will also bring our smaller forwards into the game more, especially Didak with his elite foot skills, but they need get at the feet of Cloke and Dawes and wait for the crumbs.
Hopefully they are also smart enough to have one player at the back of the pack as the ball will no doubt go through the hands of the talls and spill out the back.
It should suit players like Sidey,Beams and Blair also.
Forgot to mention our wet weather specialist in Daisy Thomas.
His sure ball handling in the wet is something that cannot be underestimated.
Hopefully he turns it on this week.

no one would race him in the late 90s so he raced horses and stock cars
