Someone wrote a response to a post of mine that was so long and actually expected me to read it.

Was it from a Port Adelaide supporter who works as a chef at a pizza restaurant in Sweden, Switzerland or somewhere Icelandic and he was trying to draw a long winded, tenuous at best analogy about how his Scandi noir workplace conditions somehow related to those at Hawthorn Football Club and should Clarko be found guilty we should all just accept it because his boss Olaf was skimming money from the till?

I think it was from a poster that name started with J. They could’ve made good points but once I saw how long the post was I checked out.

I’m not up for long winded debates on big footy.

Something that the AFL ignores completely yet tarnishes it in so many ways.
Even those in the footy media get all huffy about it when it is raised like we should all assume that they are all above reproach (which I tend to find indicates that something is up). It just wouldn't cut the mustard anywhere else. Even the perceptions of conflicts of interest like our former coach making the call on priority picks whilst tidying up his resume for * are terrible but don't warrant a mention.

Such an incestuous industry where they never call it out because it will make things awkward the next time they meet at a function or match.

Agree on all, Jobe's Dad etc, but this one has escaped the usual realm of "ignorability" as it were.

Shut the * up about AFLW.

Really big question is who's name is redacted in Egan's report?

Noting it could be two names. One present when the abortion order given, one who he is told he will be living with.

Now to quote Tom Browne it's $1.05 that Ian was told he'd be living with Leon Egan.

So the cousin of the bloke who wrote the investigation report was also part of one the most serious accusations?

Yet when the report leaks that name is the only one redacted?

Holy s**t.
He also was publicly calling for a review before it happened, and then afterwards claimed he knew nothing at the time about the allegations that were made. Ever since we first discussed him a couple of weeks ago it's been one of the more interesting threads in the story.

It’s kinda strange that this is a topic that is debated so vigorously behind anonymity, yet in my experience barely raises a ripple when you go about your day to day business. Maybe the moral high ground is a place that is best visited under a cloak of secrecy?

Anyway, those hoping to assert their moral superiority (or * bias) by backing a Clarkson execution are likely to be sorely disappointed. To those I say…

Very well said Michael, a valid point about it being nary mentioned in the work place or socially. But attracts a whack of attention beyond what one would seem healthy online.

Many a poster have an online personality and then one they roll with in person . Or have a voice online that they don’t have in the reality of life. I unfortunately act the same in both forms.

Oh well

Anyways a grand post amd no wonder you are my #31,355 favourite poster .

Good job

From what I know he's deeply involved in the Liam and Ian stories. Like they lived with him.

The majority of online opinion is let's hear them out, no trial by media etc.

That's actually amazing if true, and exhibit one if one of the 3 named wanted to sue.

The redacted component suggests this has been intentional.

Am I reading this right that the 4 families involved have moved away from Clarko and co to a now afl wide systematic review?

Yes and no.

They, and Amy, seemed to want a macro look at racism within the afl. And especially how the afl itself dealt with incidents of racism.

The current investigation will solely look at hawthorn and the allegations made.

The four people/families were convinced to join when the afl promised to do a league wide review at some point later.

So Clarkson still needs to convince a four member independent panel of his relative innocence. If he’s found guilty in anyway for his actions, he’ll be sentenced by the afl.

Gotcha thanks. I'll support him all the way no matter what until the panel makes their judgement. But if he is found guilty, which is highly unlikely, then id be cautious

You make it sound like they’re going to send him to jail or hang him (which I’m sure people like Andy Maher would feel is an appropriate punishment). I think sanctioned might be a better word. 😊

Remember that there is such a low bar for “guilty” that I’d find it surprising if he got away from the panel Scott free based on the complaints.

Keep in mind that is a far cry from being suspended or de registered due to racism etc. it could be guilty of cultural insensitivity at a low level and a reprimand type thing. It could be guilty of instrusion into personal lives of players and educational training. It could be a combination of things and a 1 month suspension.

But it could conceivably be worse

Lowish bar for guilty of inappropriate actions (that all senior coaches would be guilty of), but they put racism aside as it's own thing. He might get found 'guilty' and still not have any findings of racial discrimination (subconscious or otherwise) against him; and lets be honest the latter are the career killer in the current climate.

I didn't like the TOR when we first got a hold of them, but now I think they leave the panel with a lot of different avenues for their findings depending on what type of evidence is brought forth. I actually feel pretty good about it all, though tomorrow is another day :p

Yep. That's my thoughts too. I just said to my parents thats its just cultural differences. I mean it's surely innocent until proven guilty. The media don't understand that though!

My read is that it will be less about racism and more about intrusion

If Ian and Amy don't take part the forced abortion stuff is off the table and he doesn't have to get into an ugly battle to prove it didn't happen ... and it didn't

That's the only career killing element in the Egan report.

NFNL div 1 womens is highly skilled :) i would recommend everyone get down to a game especially Darebin falcons, last season we played a really exciting brand of footy.

but lets get back on topic!
Agree as I‘m a Diamond Creek Women’s FC supporter and President.
