Not sure about others, but being at the game felt that the game was tighter than the score suggested. I suppose after 1/4 time it was..

Bruhn was damaging early. Still needs to put a 4 quarter game together but the improvement is noticeable from last year. He’s going to be good. Very good.
Might have something to do with the fact that he still only got 63% game time.

Would probably be BOG over Worpel if he got a full game.

Thought Oisin showed a little bit today. You can see him starting to figure it out in real time. Think his teammates are starting to trust him more too.

I was looking for an ice bath after Bruhn’s first quarter, deary me that was good footy.

Conway did some things that Stanley can no longer do. Bloody good signs.

Just rapt that for long periods in the game our young midfield were on top. I didn’t expect them to hold sway the entire match which is what happened. But for them to hold their end up was particularly pleasing. This was a team that was missing its 3 chief mids from the 2022 GF.

Stengle for me was a clear BOG. Played his position to absolute perfection.

SDK was good in the air and I thought played his best game for the year. Was a little untidy with a couple of possessions but otherwise he looked to have turned the corner.

Conway for a young bloke performed admirably. He has ruck smarts that are rare. His mobility is also impressive watching his follow up work.

Bruhn’s tendency to jink sideways once already clear and then handball sideways is infuriating. If he went north-south even 10% more he’d be our best midfielder.

Most promising part is he's now showing the ability to accumulate while still not having elite endurance.

If that gets up to scratch he could be a 30-40 possession mid within a year or two...but the caveat is we do seem to manage our midfield now as a whole.

Weight of numbers vs 2 or 3 standouts.

He is very good and will only get better.

Him and Atkins. Problem is playing them both in the same team as they're so similar.
Except Atkins' disposal is way better.

A few seasons ago - after about 15 rounds - Parf was rated as having the worst average disposal efficiency in the entire AFL. It might have improved marginally since then. Can't fault his attitude most of the time, though. He was a driving force today so good on him.

MOD NOTE

If we're going to start heaping the praise on young Jhye, can we please get the spelling of his name correct

JHYE CLARK

There's no 'E' on the end of Clark

Yes, in the past we've had a Clarke or two on the list and they happened to share the same first name - David, with Jnr last playing in the hoops back in 2003

We also had Georgia Clarke as part of our womens team

I know he's only a few games into his career, but can we please try to get the young mans name right
Can’t you automatically correct Clarke so if anyone types it comes out Clark?

Yep, Conway and Mullin were the standouts for me, just by virtue of the rawness and potential of both. Clark played pretty darn well too.

For all the talk of why was Mullin in the team, he showed a bit today. Got it 15 times and looked confident with ball in hand.
The time in the centre when he blew past 3 or 4, picked it up cleanly, didn't blaze away with an opponent right on his tail and found a teammate on the wing with a good kick, showed there's a lot to work with there.
Still a way to go but the MC seem happy for him to develop in the seniors and I'm confident it will pay off in the end

If you’re going to start correcting for spelling, this board is gonna look like Melbourne CBD, 2020 :)

After the fast starting first quarter, I know it would have been great to continue in such fashion & absolutely put Hawthorn to the sword

But got to say there's actually positives to take out of the last two weeks where we've played on the oppositions home deck, arguably been undermanned each match and while we've had periods of dominance followed by periods of the opposition getting on top, we've also shown an ability to respond

We're 3 games into the season, and already showing a more positive mindset & approach than we saw for periods last season

Last year we struggled to find a response when the opposition lifted, and we see that in the results where in games decided by less than 10 points we went 0-5-1. This season when the opposition has lifted or found a spark, we've not rolled over - instead we're fighting to get things back on level pegging & then when the opportunity presents, it's not just 1 goal but 2 or 3 as we put the foot down

I'd totally love to see some triple digit wins, but this early in the season, and a clear transition in personnel, I love seeing the fight & never give up attitude on display

Curious to know how many people on here went to home when the play was stopped.
I for one did, I do have the lightning app on my phone for work and I was not hanging around considering if there was another strike then time starts again.
Many people wouldn’t have been aware of that.

Anyway we decided to make a day of it and get a hotel for our daughters first game.
We got back to the room just as the 4th quarter started.

Seems to me a tactic where we forge ahead then hold back for a full on attack at the death.

100% Let get right young Jeye Klark ... ;)

Seriously...I thought that one really could see a step up in comfort levels today. Clark and Bruin are still a very young pairing. Add another or two young mids of their talent level and we really will be starting to look like we have progressed the rebuild.

Mullin is an elite specimen with some serious tricks. Pump 25 games into him and sit back and enjoy.

They eventually see him playing midfield.

Agree wholeheartedly, he looks like he’ll be a serious player

Absolutely

Some of our best wins in 2022 were the wins against Richmond, Bulldogs and Port.
In all 3 we had about a 5 goal lead only to end up trailing. We were able to gather ourselves though and go again to get the win. Being able to do that gave me much more belief that year than thumping North by 120
