Congrats to Ollie Henry on game #50 - really liked game today

He showed some desperation & defensive pressure that he's not normally known for, and was deservedly rewarded for his tackle on Sicily which he then converted for his first goal

Great involvement across the match to finish with 4 goals & 1 goal assist
Agree. Never doubted he was AFL quality but today showed he could be much more.

His defensive work is 100% better now, and kicked 4 ( should have been 5) without resorting to big jumps. His older brother learnt quickly... Ollie is following in his footsteps.

I’ll echo what others have said in that Mullin was really promising, I thought that was comfortably his best game. Was composed with ball in hand and is starting to use his pace instead of looking to pass the ball off immediately. I have complete faith that our coaching and development programs will turn him into a solid player at worst - a star at best.
You can see it with Mark O'Connor, he's got those raw athletic traits that you can't teach which is the same for Oisin. I reckon Mark plays his best footy as part of the system as our coaches are really good at finding roles for these players which allows them to play to their strengths.

Honestly another example would be Miers, people on here lament his lack of a penetrating left foot but he's playing incredible footy because he knows his role to absolute perfection and it's suited to his game by our coaching team.

A lesson? He was our best player. Thought today was a real breakthrough.

Don’t forget he played a lot less game time than Worpel

Worpel is right in the sweet meat of his career... 25+ and 100 games plus. Bruhn is still 20-40 games shy of being ready to be a best mid in a side role. He should have 3 to 4 ahead of him, shouldering the weight...and yet at times ..he is playing above that. Happy with Bruhn and Clarks efforts today but they will be inconsistent for the next couple of years. Special effort of Parfit today. Its game like today that make young wonder why at his age he is not a lock. Maybe conditions suited him

You're more the expert on this than me but you can do running with during quad recovery can't you? It's only kicking that you can't do? Shouldn't he come back fairly fit?
not match fit, minutes on the ground in matchplay is critical

Bowes 8 touches and 5 tackles in the last quarter
Thought he was great when he came on. Tbh, I'd have Bowes and Mannagh ahead of Clark atm, but the club knows best with these sort of things.
Stengle and parfit return to form.
And what a difference it makes when you have Parfitt a fringe player, suddenly playing decently. His form last year was outside the best 22, so it's like getting top efforts from your bottom 6 players on the ground and that's where games are usually won or lost - those bottom 6 players. Been a fan of Parfitt this year.
Conway feeding the ball to Bruhn, Clark, Dempsey and Holmes is something I'm comfortable with getting used to for the next decade. :)
Here we go... the next decade haha... have to chuckle a bit when people put it out there for the next 10 years with our new players ;)

Bruhn’s tendency to jink sideways once already clear and then handball sideways is infuriating. If he went north-south even 10% more he’d be our best midfielder.

True. He does have a tendency on occasion to make things more difficult than they need to be. But his influence on games overall has improved markedly. He’s clearly been working hard.

Not sure how noticeable it was on TV versus being at the ground, but as they were getting ready to chair Tommy off he had his 3 kids hanging around

Arabella & Primrose being that bit older were ok, but young Henry was looking a little lost. Parfitt stepped in, picked up the young man and helped him watch his dad being chaired off

It's something really small, but thought it was a really touching & nice gesture from Parfitt - and you can see part of it in this clip

.. and I still feel feel like he is not a bulletproof setshot yet he kicks goals at 62%. I think there is plenty of up side.

100% Let get right young Jeye Klark ... ;)

Seriously...I thought that one really could see a step up in comfort levels today. Clark and Bruin are still a very young pairing. Add another or two young mids of their talent level and we really will be starting to look like we have progressed the rebuild.
cough Bruhn cough

😉😜🤣

He was a turn over merchant today with his direct opponent arguably bog. I thought Parfitt was better

Loved the youngsters Bruhn, Dempsey, Conway, Henry & Holmes. Clark cracked in all day again too.

Also thought Mullin did some good things too?
Mullin has some serious wheels. We haven't really seen the most of yet, but there are moments when he gets the ball and on the burst he leaves his opponents for the dead...
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge that Brandon Parfitt has absolutely proved me wrong in the past two weeks. He has been superb with his attack on the ball and tackling and influenced both games in ways I didn’t know he was still capable. Bravo to him and I hope he keeps it up. Makes us stronger.
There would be interesting stats on our Wins when Parfitt plays well... It's a very high win ratio. He does have a role in the team, the way he tackles, and can clear congestion at a very high level, it's just whether he can maintain the form and stay fit.

I feel like the difference in periods where SDK was rucking versus Conway were glaring.

Conway huge and SDK not at all a ruckman

I agree. I was surprised we didnt use blitz for every single ruck contest conway was off. But i suppose we are reluctant to not have him as a full time mid while danger is out.

Was down at the game with my 8 year old son. Tell me if I'm wrong but I thought Parfitt was one of our best, but all media outlets AFL app, Herald Sun didn't even mention him...
I would've had him in my top 5-6 for today for sure.
A fit Dangerfield and Guthrie added into our midfield would make us a reasonably complete team imo.

Clark and Parf would maybe be the guys that move aside for them if ever is available.
Clark goes first. Parf way ahead for output atm. Maybe in the not-so-distant future it will be the other way, but atm, has to be Parf ahead.
