Boak as a sub I like to.
Lycett is a key. If he plays out of his skin like he can do from time to time and let's our midfield get on top we can really restrict Brisbane's powerful scoring

Boak is a terrible sub. He’s to slow, doesn’t offer versatility and isn’t someone that is likely to come on and make an immediate impact.

Cool graphic bro, absolutely got 'em a beauty. Of course you could just do the same thing in reverse with any of JHF, Aliir, Dixon, Rioli, Burton, Finlayson or Lycett down the bottom, but you'd never just zero in on the data points that support your point and ignore the ones that don't, would you?
I'm expecting us to pick Aliir, McKenzie and Jonas. The two talls (Plus risk that Fort plays) is enough to play the extra tall defender. If McKenzie or Aliir can't handle their opponent, we have no plan B. Having Jonas allows us a bit of flexibility and may free up Aliir a bit (or Jonas himself coming across)

I must say, seeing Lord with his hand all bandaged up like it has been to me just makes me think we should be thinking about playing a smaller forward line. He doesn't do much so with his main weapon contested marking unlikely to be as effective, I'm really not sure he's offering heaps.
Selections are as expected really, although the Boak sub call is surprising. He's the type that is still good enough for a stint on ball or in the forward line and still better than some of our current options, despite the fact he hasn't been great of late. Let's hope it plays out alright.

McEntee survives and we have to hope Lycett, now older, manages to perform in finals after saving his worst for them his previous goes at Port. Hmmm.
Limped off from training today with what appeared to be a calf tear. Will not play this weekend - or any game these finals is my uneducated guess.
Have no ill will towards Jonas but hope he does what Matty Primus did 19 years ago - a Port captain cheering his team to Premiership glory from the sidelines.

Not a surprise any more but it still bears repeating, McEntee over Evans or Fantasia is absolutely pissweak gutless selection.
Evans should demand a trade. There are 17 other clubs out there who realise you win games by kicking more goals than the other team.

I wouldn’t call it gutless. It takes guts to effectively play one short.
I’d say it’s mindboggling
No one would want Evans.
How has McEntee become one of the first selected on this squad. Like has he been named on the interchange at all this year?

LoL I'm only a nominal Newcastle supporter. Haven't watched a game in years.
State leaguer all the way, handy depth at best.
I wouldn't be surprised if he never kicks multiple goals in a game ever again. Not worth getting in a fizz over.
With a cooked Lycett coming back in, I think we have to play him until Dixon is back. Otherwise there's a real chance Lycett gets subbed out and we're down to Marshall as our only tall forward after playing 3 most of the year.

He hadn't kicked 7 goals in his last 3 AFL games when he came here.
I didn't even want him when we recruited him but since he got here he's exceeded all expectations. Unfortunately for him he's arrived at a club where performance doesn't matter as much as whether Chad Cornes likes you.
