Cool thanks, so the same definition of close contact applies to all teams regardless of state?

Then absolute shitshow for us this week, but all clubs will have to deal with similar impacts at various points this year.

Yeah Sydney/Hawthorn had a couple last week, Bombers have one this week (Nick Martin).

Waterman may play back to cover for Barrass (North did our trick and played three tall forwards last weekend)

Thanks for thinking of Waterman! He is underated by this board. However, even as his sponsor, I really don't want to see him play in the back line where he seems to look lost. Rotham can play on the third tall.

I don't really want it either, I just remember Simmo doing it a couple of times when tall defenders were injured

I have been living in a caravan so I am not a close contact of my family . Just so my business can run . No one has had COVID yet but the close contact laws mean at least a week isolating if someone in the family get it .Or we don't get paid. I can still see the family like a next door neighbour . Granted We do have 7 1/2 acres but seriously we can try . Maybe the players don't give much of a stuff they will still get paid .

It's ok.... it's ok.... It's a chance to play the kids.....

There is a simpler solution to this. Don't test, or if you do, don't report. If one of the family has symptoms, some they have it and they should stay at home until better.
Just went through this with my son getting it. Wife tested him so we all locked down for 7 days. None else caught it and TBH I wouldn't do it again.

Yeah I don't want to test if I am not sick . Wife the same . She even offered to wear a mask for conjugal visits . It's a weird time we live in .

I was of the similar opinion until I realised if you test positve, you don't have to isolate again if a close contact. The moment my wife got symptoms we both tested, came up positive and can now make sure we don't have to isolate again.

For 8 weeks, anyway. But if Omicrons little brother makes its way through soon that should at least buy you a pretty good window. Maybe.

Outside of the game where he kicked 3 goals in the space of about 10 minutes I can't really recall many "damaging" games from Sheed despite racking up 30 possies on the reg.

He doesn't really break lines or move/dispose of the ball long or quick enough to do that. I do think in the longer term there's more value in what Jones/Rioli can do in this respect as it puts more pressure on defenders and increases the chances of goals.

Completely agree it's probably too early to make this move permanent but having players compile inefficient/undamaging possessions whilst being completely unwilling to have a defensive impact on the game needs to be eliminated from our team if we're to move forward.
He was massive in that doggies game in Melbourne last year. Him and Naita got us back into the game in the 3rd before we slipped late

I don't understand the close contact ban.

Surely they can isolate away from cases they've been exposed to and test them sufficiently to ensure they don't have it when we're 3/4 days out from a game?
The way RATs are used is the key. They will tell if someone is going to infect others. Keeping the competition going needs players and staff self-testing daily or preferrably even twice a day during the season. A very small investment to keep things running, and doing a RAT is quick, easy and reliable in stopping contagion.

Yep - it is state based. I think a lot of other states have dropped it as well and WA probably will too once we're past the peak.

I don't know what the AFL is doing, but I assume it's different by state. If they went by WA rules then most of Carlton would be isolated.
I hadn't realised that. So, national competition operating under state-based rules. That makes sense.
