He’s how old ....20.....maybe 21.....go easy champ .....

Problem is, Duggan was actually drafted for what was meant to be a huge strength of his: the quality of his disposal.

At some foreseeable point, its going to need to be addressed. I look at a guy like Cole who is almost the same age and playing a similar role and his development is way ahead.

I like Duggan, but its not a stretch to say in the last 2 years he has really plateaued.

He’s changed roles ....he went from mid to defense

He’s 21 ...his skill level will go up

Yeah and Duggo is doing that and still playing footy at an elite level. The kid is a star.

has to improve his kicking rapidly before he can ever be considered elite. The amount of times his field kicking has resulted in an oppo goal is absolutely unacceptable for an AFL listed player

Got stats on that
Only the DI which is 70% which isn't to bad but if u watch the eagles play regularly u will

Re
Yeo

Was a terrible decision maker for a long time ....

And his kicking was questionable ar times

Give Duggan time

He never consistently kicked grubbers out of the backline tho. The worrying thing for me is decision making was meant to be one of Duggan strengths wen he was drafted not a weekness. I just can't see him developing into a reliable midfielder, hopefully turns into ahold reboundingbackman but I'm sure that's not wat the recruiters had in plan after using pick 11

Duggan's played 68 games and is still only 21. He's improved this year and will continue to do so if we keep him settled in a position.

I agree that some of his disposal can be terrible out of the back half when he perceives he's under pressure when he isnt and turns the ball over. But overall his attack on the ball and pressure is great. Look at the Adams tackle in the 4th for example!

There was another moment in the 4th quarter where he sprinted from the centre to the wing to beat everyone the ball, picked it up cleanly and passed it on his right, obviously gassed, to another player shows talent.

He just needs to remember to take that extra half second when he gets the ball to lower the eyes and make a better decision. Back him in!

Remember when Waterman was playing (who also has a horrible ball drop) against Richmond. He was sprinting at a ball in the forward pocket, had a look around him while sprinting, got the ball then kicked around the corner to JK in the square without looking a second time.

Duggan needs to look around himself when running at full pace to get a loose ball, he doesn't have to look as he's going to pick it up because that creates fumbles, but before he gets there he should have a rough idea of what's on offer and how many steps he can take after taking possession.

Also, Yeo never had a poor kick, just poor decision making. Duggan's ball drop is fundamentally flawed when on the move, but no I don't want him to be dropped, just to be as good as he can be. Plenty to love about him still.

If you recall last year, he got caught taking too long with ball in hand. Not been an issue this year but a couple of times he has blindly kicked round the corner and coughed it up. I would back him in to improve again in 2019.

We am hoping for one of (or both) Duggan and Cole to fill the role on the wing. They have both got a feel for AFL, its pace and the running required. I like the development that can be provided by a stint in defense thereby teaching younger players the discipline and the need for 2 way running.

To give credit, Sheed filled the more link-role and wing pretty well on Saturday.

I am concerned that we will need to reduce this corralling crap as it becomes more of a liability in game style the deeper we get into finals. Masten, Hutchings and Sheed are are main mids who like corralling it will not get us over the line on the 29th September.

Agree with your points. I like Cole moving further ahead of the back line because his evasion and class will be perfectly suited to the link-up role. What I think we should be looking at in the draft are one inside-outside mid and one outside mid with pace, endurance and skills. For me that looks like Foley, Stack and Cameron as options.

The corraling style will not last when you consider the high pressure styles of Melbourne and the Tigers. Both teams rely on blisteringly quick counter attacks in force where they will spread and sprint, providing options which cant be covered off. The only way to match that is to pressure the ball carrier and hope to spoil the thrust, setting conditions for your own counter.

Melbourne's handballing game means they move the ball really quickly and work their way out of the clearance and tackles very quickly. Tackling will wear them down and reduce the effectiveness of that game style.

SEN/Age reporting likely to be between 1:20pm and 2:00pm

A day final will be awesome. And less chance it will be slippery.

And slightly more break if we win.
I think it gets the team ready for a potential GF as that is played during the day also. I always wondered if playing multiple night matches has an effect on a day game the following week.

Ins Schofield, Ahchee.
Outs Shep, Mastenflourbag

AhChee will add toughness, run and can take a good mark. Can play link up man, go fwd and clunk em too. Just gives a bit more rest to a ruckman too.

Lecras is getting the benefit with a week off. But if we were playing a Semi next week hes on the chopping block as hes gassed. If i want to be ruthless id bring in Petruccelle for his pace.
Heard Shep say hes confident but dont think Scans will agree.

Petrucelle doesn't get it at WAFL level, not ready for an AFL final. Lecras has been covering more ground since gaff went out., not kicking goals but has ben doing enough to keep his spot

Should we be worrying about him missing the prelim, or am I just being paranoid? ... :(
Telling you not to worry about something is as useful as telling a catholic priest not to touch altar boys

But we have almost two weeks to the prelim so I think he'd be right since he did play out the game

Exactly. Lecras it always at the around the ground ruck contests. Ryan cripps and willie and filling the goal scoring roles
