Cameron will fire in the finals . We need his chase and tackle , he will bring it !

Agreed ... Talia and Hartigan are not a good combo , GWS will isolate Harto and switch with space which will bring in there small forwards .
Keath offers presence and cut out which allows Lever to play the intercept plus Kelly is a great team defender who locks down and helps out .
Those 3 are crucial for defensive triangle with Talia and Brown in lockdown mode and Laird to mop with Brodes to link .
Keath chose a bad week to be slighty off and panicky. Has been great but have to go with Hartigan after that defensive effort on Kennedy with Patton coming up.

Feel the selection panel will not read too much into todays game and nor should they. When your key defensive and forward pillars are out, the structure is vastly different. The same analogy could be used to Jenkins who spudded it up with Walker missing today. I feel the selection committee will look at the games against the swans, geelong and the power recently as indicators for selection plus who has consistency of games at afl level. Today really meant nothing other than improving the first round pick we will get for Lever from melbourne.

IN: Walker, Talia, Greenwood
OUT: Milera, Keath, Atkins (Edit: whoops, wrote Lever instead of Talia)

Harto gets the nod from me - not my favourite Crow but holding Kennedy to one goal is no mean feat. Keathy has shown that he's not quite up to it yet, so Hartigan stays in as the lesser of two evils.

Cameron, Atkins and Mackay were all shithouse, but Mackay has actually been okay-ish this season. But will he be crap in finals like he usually is, barring the EF against North?

Seedsman must come in after that performance. Atkins has been a liability for several games now; should go. Charlie? He is CLEARLY not right at the moment but unfortunately I don't think we can replace him with anyone. I like Milera but do not trust him one little bit in contested finals footy.

This fortnight will present a genuine, intriguing challenge at the selection table with many permutations. The stakes are high.

A the least I wasn't the only one who thought that Hartigan made some terrible blues today.

Edit: Hartigan had 12 touches, 3 of which were turnovers. I'd be interested to know how many led directly to goals. Keath only had 7 touches, but no turnovers. I don't know. I'm not super confident either of them kill it come finals.

If Hartigan plays lets reconvene this convo post the 3-4 goals that Patton kicks on him plus another one for Greene or Lids on a fumble or direct TO .

Keath will get there though. He is about 20 games off being a permanent 22.

Out: Keath, Mackay, Cameron
In: Talia, Greenwood, Walker

Cameron is a complete abomination out there at the moment. I'm not sure how anyone can possibly have him in the side. Can't get the ball, can't hit the side of a house by foot, makes poor decisions, the list goes on. Sorry, but enough is enough. Getting by purely on reputation won't cut it in a qualifying final.

Mackay's spot was taken by Seedsman today, end of story.

Keath was comfortably outplayed by Hartigan after half-time, and it's reasonably clear that in the selectors' eyes he's probably only really been keeping the seat warm for Kyle this whole time anyway.

Seedsman simply must play. It's a joke if he doesn't. Was in our best 6 against West Coast and is in absolutely sparkling form right now, unlike anyone else being discussed here.

All 3 of Atkins, Knight and Milera are pretty lucky to make my side, but all have traits that I think may prove more beneficial than what Mackay or Cameron will offer in this particular fixture.

Fully aware that my proposed outs are roughly a 0.4% chance of happening so spare me the lecture on how it's no chance.

Here goes the Mackay rubbish again. Was good today and is critical to our handball link up game. Today's issue was although the Crouches had 80 touches 20 were abysmal kicks forward with little or no composure. Football is not just about possessions

I agree. Has been awful for two months but scares the opposition and has upside out other wing/outside players can't match (other than maybe Rat who is also out of form)

Mackay has had a decent year and was far from our worst today, def drop Milera and Knight ahead of him. Seedsman must play. Horrible defensively but so are Atkins and Milera.

Hartigans pretty good at negating his opponent but the goals he saves there he gives away with his abysmal disposal.
Sorry harto straight back out for Tals

Seem to remember Hartigan stepping up and playing well in the last couple of finals series. Hard to look back on stats for a defender to confirm - anyone recall the same?

My greatest concern is that they'll look at the raw numbers and think "We were right to change the balance, we just need to use it better" and keep Milera in for Greenwood
All I can say is
Just wondering if you called 5AA after the game yesterday?

Harto kept Kennedy quiet but he played like Talia and don't need 2 of them

Hartigan also plays like Keath, it's what he was doing when he was top 10 in the b&f last year. He can play on the main key forward, the second, the 3rd and even a medium and did a good job on Robbie Gray who I think Harto caught an injury from. And he came back in perfectly fine nick, I'll be very surprised if it's not him that gets the nod.

In - Tex, Greenwood, Talia
Out - Milera, Keath and Seedsman

We won't drop Rat ahead of Mackay and we won't drop Mackay ahead of Seedsman. We saw this last year with Hendo our best in the final round and Mackay carrying in lesser form than he does now. We're locked in, the only doubt was whether Harto was back into something resembling form and he pretty well was.

Were playing GWS you do realise what happened last time

1 GWS Totally blanketed Jonathon Patton out of the game. 6

As for Hartos game we lost to west coast he stood the best forward in the entire league and at worst when you lose you would expect him to kick a minimum of 5 he kept him to one

I suppose at least SEN can recognise what sort of game he played

23 WCE Fantastic effort in some crucial contests against Kennedy. Kept him to one goal. 8

No hope in hell Mackay dropped try choosing someone that will be dropped

None of them will be. It will almost certainly be Seed that misses. One game isn't enough form to push past continuity, we saw it last year with Hendo when he was in our top couple, while Mackay was actually having a poor patch. Atkins has been hit and miss, but we carry players through sustained poor form to maintain continuity, so no chance he's dropped. And whilst CC is struggling, he provides critical defensive forward pressure that gives our back 6 a chance. And even though he's struggling, he's still putting together 'almost' type games rather than being completely invisible. Only Harto will hold his spot at the expense of Keath, which I can't believe people are saying won't happen. The dumbest thing I heard is that because we trusted Harto to go to their most dangerous forward, it means he was playing the Talia role and therefore it must be him that makes way. Here's a guy that has played 2nd KPD for his entire career with us and is elevated to cover for the primary KPD for 1 week and he's now just back up for that player. The Harto haters sure clutch at straws.

Jeez lots of variations for ins and outs this week on the board... for me :

IN: Walker, Talia, Greenwood
OUT: Cameron, Keath, Milera

Hartigan and Seedsman improve the physicality for finals.

Keath is not ready for finals.
Milera no good in the contest.
Cameron out of form.

Douglas goes forward and plays the pressure role left by CC.
