looking at the ladder i think we are going to need 5 wins from the last 6 games to finish top 2 (17 wins 5 losses) as remember a couple of years ago when we had 16 wins and didn't finish top 4 its shaping up to be another one of those years. If lycett stays fit we can do this.

in saying that it really is possible for us to go undefeated until the gf. in other words the eagles are awesome
No chance. Already 1 win ahead of 3rd, so by saying need 5 wins you think one of the teams on 11 wins will win every game? Wont happen.

I see it like this:

6 wins - 1st
5 wins - 2nd
4 wins - 2nd
3 wins - 3rd
2 wins - 5th
1 win - 8th
0 wins - 9th

I did the ladder predictor thingy, had us dropping two more games (Port in Port and North in Hobart, both winnable) and still finishing second.
Same - but only on % over Port - which means Port could easily be above us.

If we can beat Port that would be huge - the old "8 point" game scenerio.

Glad Lycett wasn't suspended for his tackle on a much lighter player on the weekend.
As such:
Out: NN,
In: Vardy.

Barrass & Sheed 1 more week in the seconds to gain form/fitness.

In saying that I'd like us to look at the second ruck/fwd position. Vardy would be the second best ruck, but could we get more impact around the ground from Schofield/Brander/MAllen? Happy to put McInnes behind Vardy on this list.

You'd think Masten would be skating on thin ice given the amount of weight the match committee place on the comments from Bigfooty ;)

God NO!!! ive got a bottle of scotch on Port not making top four! So thats NO to your 1st comment and YES to your second.

So the bulldogs hey? I hope we don't go and do something stupid like lose this one.
They get Boyd and Crozier back. But we have Barrass to come back for Boyd and I would back Hutch to limit MacRae or Hunter in the midfield. They have been spanked in the 2nd half of games in the last 2 weeks. Expect Kennedy and Darling to kick a few against them. We beat them by 50 points earlier in the year. Expect the same.

I think I would bring in an O Allent type for Nic Nat, don't think we should play 2 ruckman unless both are in top form and we can see a real value in it.
and if Barrass is ready he takes Schoey spot, the rest will have to wait their turn.

To be 2nd we need 5 wins safely 4 wins we could end up anywhere from 2nd to fifth depending on percentage we would be relying on other teams to finish there.
remember 2015 16 wins finished 2nd (made the gf)
2016 16 wins finished 5th (got knocked out in the first final)
I'd rather play it safe and get 2 home finals, 1 in the first week. I really don't get why some people think we are not good enough to do it. News flash the 2018 eagles are good enough......

Maybe next time I just say tongue in cheek or just kidding, couldn't help myself though.

No troll or baiting this time,
Can really only see the obvious change of Vardy for NicNat.

But would not be surprised to see Sheed come in. We tend to put guy's back to EP to work on some aspects of their game and if he has done what has been asked of him he could come back in. He had a pretty good game, stat's wise at least.
I know it was a great team effort to do what we did but Sheed is considered best 22 I would have thought, just hard to see who goes out.
Even trying to fit Ryan back in if he has a good WAFL game next week will be hard.
Hard decisions to have but also good ones to get.

Bontempelli is confirmed to miss while Boyd (lol) and Crozier (lol x2) are doubtful.
If we cannot win this at home without the Dogs' best player we should fold.
If we can't win this at home with those outs then I will permit Figure09 to reactivate his account.

Sheed doesn't have a spot in the 22 while Hutchings is tagging well IMO.

I really like Dom and think he's a much more talented footballer, but Hutchings being able to completely blanket a Kelly/Sidebottom is more important at the moment.

Unless he's able to play pure mid, he stays in the WAFL.

By the same token I think Hutch needs to always play this same role. No point deciding ‘oh he doesn’t have anyone to tag this weekend, lets just chuck him in the forward line’.

He is a role player and this is his role - he does it well. Keep it simple for him and he should keep his spot in the side.

Some have pointed it out when Vardy comes in he has to rest fwd which does point to the fact 4 tall fwds becomes too many. They didnt want Nic Nat playing fwd taking hangers. This is where they wont have the same concerns with Vardy. He will play fwd also.

Nic Nat - Vardy 2nd Ruck but with fwd capablity Straight swap
Waterman - Ryan TEAM BALANCE with Vardy in.
Barrass - Schofield Straight swap.
Sheed - Masten. Can play the same role it will happen sooner or later. Masten is the weakest mid in the 22. Except Venables is in the team to grow.

Id really love to get Petch in. He brings lightning speed and a great goal sense. Straight swaps with him are the hardest of the lot. Hes not a Lecras, a Masten or Cripps. We drafted him as we need speed. Cannot see him sitting too much longer in the WAFL.

Im an agreeance that Sheed is best 22 and has most likely done what has been asked of him. Im putting him in for Masten as i believe Venables will get better and his ceiling is higher. Hutchings has locked his role for a good while. Its a good position to be in. He was the whipping boy not so long ago.
