I would of dropped others ahead of Gibbs but I admire what Pyke has done. Very out of character. I think what contributed to him being dropped was the club thinks he will come back a better player. I think a few other senior players wouldn't recover if they were ever dropped but this puts everyone on notice.

At the start of the year I said if Eliis-Slowman gets a game we are in trouble. I know his form has been okay but he is not an AFL player.

CEY will put his head over the ball, tackle and play with some aggression. I agree he may not have the greatest of pace but at the least he will play with some physical presence like all AFL players should.

It's just bullshit.

If he had said; "Our selection policy has been selecting what we see as our best team, and then backing them in to perform; this is no longer our approach. From this point on, we will base selection purely upon performance, both in the SANFL and AFL, and make changes accordingly."

It'd mean something - but to act as if that is a performance based selection policy is obvious, and something we embrace, is just bullshit.
Our selection policy is, once you're in the team, you are in until you are injured or you decide to retire.

"Merit based". As if!

Patrick Wilson
Mitch Grigg
Etc
Pretty obvious you don't watch SANFL very often, Wilson can certainly find the footy at that level, it's what he does next with it that is the big problem, his short - medium passing is diabolical at times and when he pulls the trigger with the booming kick he possesses it's usually to a contested situation and easily knocked of by the opposition defenders.

IF we are true to consistency then you would expect 1 more putrid game from Mackay - Tex - Eddie - Laird - Kelly - Jenkins (to namer a few) would have them seriously worried.

Merit based system...

If we really had a merit based selection policy we would have made even ONE unforced change after Hawthorn beat us.

Richmond just had three injuries in their last game and on top of that, they dropped three players for SIX total changes. That's what merit based selection looks like.

Glad they are putting the boot up Gibbs. His effort was deplorable, took no responsibility for his disposal and is clearly better than what he is producing.

Rewards poholke for a rich bit of form as well

I cant believe the outrage on this board over Gibbs being dropped.

So many people saying that Gibbs was the "easy target" to drop. Since when????? 99% of this board have whinged and whined about how the senior players all get golden passes.

Gibbs made some ****ing disgusting decisions on the weekend for a "senior player" with 250 games experience. He's absolutely botched kicking out from behinds across games, his shots on goal have been deplorable, and his kicking inside 50 has been the worst of the lot. He has been terrible and deserves to be dropped.

Low and behold we finally dropped a senior player who was way down on form and not because of injury, and everyone turns around and complains he was an "easy target"????? Dropping a Jones or Murphy would have been the easy target ffs! Mackay and Atkins didnt get a lot of the ball yes, but at least they didnt completely **** things up when they did get it! This is also one of the best starts Knight has had to a season, after finally being injury free, but no lets drop him becase Gibbs is the "easy target".

Also people wanting to drop Lynch, spell yourselves. JJ is always a tough one because of our relief ruck scenario, and people wanting Tex dropped need to open their eyes and look at the mountain of unrewarded work Tex did off the ball vs Geelong. He was constantly open on leads and went unused almost all game because our midfield was completely incompetent in getting the ball to him.

The INS are another debate altogether. A little questionable given our team balance. Poholke more than deserves a call up, if it was the right one Im not sure. Maybe we intend to use Sloane and Brouch a lot more on the outside to counteract these selections.

Yeah all those blokes in the SANFL pushing for a spot based on SANFL form.

I hear this a lot, but Richmond just brought in a 3 gamer who didn't even play VFL last week, and a first year player off the back of a single VFL game where he had only 21 touches

What's your point? Richmond had three injuries last week yet they made six changes
