Selecting DMac is annoying.

But not as annoying as seeing the Crouch brothers line up in the centre at the first few bounces of the fourth quarter to kill the game off.

Pretty sure the game will be killed off not long into the first.
might as well call us the “Adelaide microwaves”. 5 minutes and we’re done.

I am gonna be super pumped to watch Mackay running down the corridor, with plenty of options around him, only to watch him handball it to a stationary Reilly O'Brien, who immediately gets swamped by opposition players.
And protestors

There's no possible way West Coast will be switched on surely.

I reckon 2 goals apiece nearing quarter time. 14 minutes of competitive football.

Then 10 consecutive goals to the Eagles before we break the drought after the 3/4 time siren

Jeeze I reckon you blokes should pull your heads in...

Play nothing but juniors and we"ll lose by 100+ each week and end up like carlton or melbourne.

It's hard to know without getting the stats but if Mackay is tearing it up in the magoos then give him a run. We're debuting players quickly and I reckon it's important to have some senior heads providing some leadership.

I could lead chasing air as well. It does not mean I should get a game.

You must feel for Sholl and Butts. The only true defenders on our entire list that have not been picked. (Maybe rookie Taylor too.)
But we must seriously be playing a few of them in alternative positions.
McAsey forward. Good, lets look at that.
Talia, Hartigan and Kelly cant do anything else.
MacKay to play wing?
McPherson, Brown and Laird as small backs, or does Laird get a different role?
Hamill, any chance he plays the game on a wing?
Doedee. 3 games back from knee reco, just starting to look good again, would they try something??

So, a back 7 - Talia, Hartigan, Kelly, Brown, McPherson, Laird, Doedee.
Wings - Smith, Dmac and Hamill
Mids - 2 Crouches, Sloane, Keays, Jones and McHenry for 5 minutes.
Fwds - Frampton, McAsey, Lynch, Stengle, McAdam, McHenry mostly.

For mine, Poholke stays in for MacKay, gets midfield exposure and Sloane/McHenry takes the wing/hf.

Nice to see some shuffling of positions, if it happens, that should make it interesting.

Fogarty's "shoulder bruise" must have been a beauty

Yes the classic Crows 'Shoulder Bruise' - nek minnit, needs a total reconstruction.

Echoing what others have already said, I just do not understand what the point of selecting Mackay is. We are in a 'rebuild', he should only be used as a last resort type option, if others are injured. It serves no strategic purpose whatsoever, Ricciuto was on radio the other day slagging ex players off 'because they won't be part of our next premiership side,' and yet the exact same can be said of Mackay, who is being selected again.

I continue to be frustrated that the club doesn't just rip the band aid off and do something properly for once.

I think most of us here have seen over 200 games of evidence that Dmacs experience is not going to make a difference.

There is a reason we arent getting the stats

Holistically I agree with this, if the 'experienced player' brings value to the team.

Selecting MacKay is just selecting experience for 'experience sake' - he's a limited footballer and always has been.

Bullseye

If we play an sanfl standard side then were not going to get a fair assessment of the players. Cameron never shined at sanfl level...

Even going through a rebuild players should earn a gig at senior level.. nicks has come out and said he's gonna play kids if they're close

The answer to "What does Mackay bring?" is effort, something widely noted to have been absent in spades from much of the previously selected sides.
Poholke provided plenty of effort, and while I have never been convinced that he’s going to make it, I think we need to give him a good block of games to make certain. He has after all kicked 18% of our goals over the last two weeks... picking Mackay is next to pointless. He’s been a good servant of the club, no one is denying his effort and commitment... but bloody hell. What’s the point? We have an experienced head on every line (bar FF) to provide guidance to the young guys. We likely lose the game with or without him. It’s a pointless selection which means a young guy doesn’t have a game under his belt when they desperately need it.

Given where we currently find ourselves it's going to feel like a sick joke watching the great DMac fumbling around the back line again. Farewell game?
