How many dour defenders do we need? Talia, Brown, Hartigan, Kelly all have no attack to their game. Coupled woth Mackay who just plain useless and Laird who cant hit a ******* target. Doedee isn't particularly attacking either and Mcpherson is a first gamer. The only one that will be aggressive is Hammil.

This has been one of our biggest issues for years.

Our defensive backline is strong, but the offensive part of it, is almost non-existent.

Watch how many times we struggle to get it out of defense and past the centre-line, it's so obvious.

You can't just play every young player possible you need to have some experience around!!!!!!! Otherwise we will be rebuilding for 10 years!!!!!! McKay not the most brilliant of players will set a great example of working hard to the young players you can never say he doesn't put in the effort. So all you Keyboard warriors just need to be quiet. We have McPherson debut stengle back mcasey back but no no no somthing always has to be wrong. Cry me a river..... And like roo said go support another team

Oh poor child, we are much more likely to be rebuilding for 10 years selecting Mackay. The point with getting experienced players is they set standards and take some heat. That is not achieved by selecting a SANFL level footballer, no matter how many games he's played or effort he puts in. This selection indicates we're not committed to a rebuild or are valuing the wrong things with it.

Also using the roo quote is peak ****wit move.

Whats now obvious is that when it comes down to the nitty gritty of selection.. the same people calling the shots last couple of years are still there calling them this year..

Harto and mackay are part of the “boys Club” at the crows and were always gonna get squeezed back into the team at some point this year.

Its just ****in pathetic.. there is nothing whatsoever to be gained from playing DMac. NOTHING...

And everything to be lost in that he is taking a game away from one of our promising youngsters and prolonging the rebuild..

But I honestly now beleive that, even though a couple of people, Reid and Roo, have publically stated we are in a rebuild the club actually doesnt really think so and is so full of delusion that it actually believes its just going through a rough patch and will bounce back quickly if just some minor things fall into place in their favour. Be playing finals again next year!..

If I was a promising young player at the club I’d be asking for a trade at the end of the season.

I actually can’t argue with that.
In all honesty though if they wanted to pick a senior bloke why not just put in Seedsman. He’s just a better, slightly younger version of Mackay
To be fair I hear Mackay was training the house down.

The only justification I can think of for Mackay's inclusion is "experience". We've lost Tex, gotta get some experience in, even though we're in the "middle" of a rebuild! It's this shot that stagnates any development because we know what Mackay offers, and it's nothing positive. This would've been the perfect week to debut Schoenberg or Sholl but go we go for someone who has still living off a good final 11 years ago. Nothing has changed at this club and I regret going for the 75% membership option. They barely deserve 10%.

It's not justification, it's an excuse.

The outs are spot on IMO. Murphy was a lock to be dropped anyway, Tex’s “injury” gives us a better look at a future forward line without him (it’s coming fast), Poholke is not a long-term answer, and Crocker is never going to be best 22 at AFL level.

Love the inclusion of McAsey, especially because it looks inevitable that he’ll be playing most of the game up forward.

Also pretty hyped to see McPherson. We simply have to find out this year if he has what it takes. The next 3 weeks could make or break his career.

Stengle in was a complete no-brainer.

But D-MAC = lol. Farewell game? I dunno, I just don’t see the point.

What does Lachie Sholl need to do to get a gig?! Surely we see him some time in the next 3 weeks?
I think that Lachie Sholl is a certainty to come in at some stage this season as will Shoenberg and maybe even Worrell. The feeling I get is that Nicks is looking at pretty much most of the squad over the course of this year and no doubt come seasons end there will be a few traded / delisted that are not up to it or at the end. I am taking this process as more of a medium term process and this year is the weed out year so to speak - or at least I hope!!

It's the Mac Attac

McAsey
McPherson

And DMac

Great McPherson getting his debut.
McAsey back after a rest. He had some physically tough game.
DMac, I guess they wanted to add a mature body.....
Stengle straight back in.

McAsey, McAdam, McHenry, McPherson, Mackay

Obviously pushing for a sponsor

Oh poor child. I believe you should look at the selections overall. And hardly a sanfl footballer

The talk of "We're in year 2 of a 4 year rebuild" showed their hand. Nicks gets the usual 2 years without finals, if he doesn't make it in 2022 he's out on his ass.

So what will a coach do in that situation where he's already got an end-date put on him? Start trying to find shortcuts.

I'm so flat.
Imagine being a first or second year player at this club.
You be so deflated knowing your development will be stifled and your career is at the mercy of incompetent fools.

Every player that has found themselves behind Mackay should immediately begin assessing their options. Get out of the club now before they ruin your career

On Poholke...

He got dropped, ok.

But that's it. If we've decided he's not up to it, fine. Make that call. That's what the coaches are there to do.

But that's the decision. If he's a 4th year mid who has had no injury problems and cannot hold a spot in the worst team and midfield in the competition then he's not good enough.

Don't recall him, don't put him in the middle in the SANFL, don't name him as an emergency. If he plays well in the SANFL then ignore it.

Do not let him yo yo his way back in later.

We've made the decision, stand by it. Move the squad forward.
He’ll be back in 3-4 weeks.

Are we the youngest team this week?

Would be close to it.
