Poholke wasn’t bad - didn’t deserved to be dropped.

Then 10 consecutive goals to the Eagles before we break the drought after the 3/4 time siren

Good to see McPherson rewarded for his debut after a good game last week. His old man will be wrapped... may see him truly swap from Port to the Crows. Pity he will miss the game live.

Some mystifying selections which many have already commented on... so I can't be bothered discussing.

How I would like us to line up...

B: Brown, Talia, Hartigan
HB: McPherson, Doedee, Hamill
C: Smith, Mrouch, Brouch
HF: Lynch, Frampton, Sloane
F: Stengle, McAdam, McAsey
R: O'Brien, Keays, Jones
I: Kelly, McHenry, McKay, Laird

Sloane - injured so play as a forward. Can take a grab & kick goals.

Laird - try him as a small forward & give him a run on ball, because he has been crap down back. Don't move Hamill as the only one giving us run from defence.

McAsey - try him as a forward but if he struggles, swap with Hartigan.

Frampton - crash packs for Stengle, McAdam & Laird to crumb. That means crunching McGovern at every opportunity & not letting him run amok in the air.

Brouch - play more on the outside. Only plays in the middle when Mrouch on the bench.

We are probably more likely to play him at full forward and say his effort and intensity was below par.

Poholke provided plenty of effort, and while I have never been convinced that he’s going to make it, I think we need to give him a good block of games to make certain. He has after all kicked 18% of our goals over the last two weeks... picking Mackay is next to pointless. He’s been a good servant of the club, no one is denying his effort and commitment... but bloody hell. What’s the point? We have an experienced head on every line (bar FF) to provide guidance to the young guys. We likely lose the game with or without him. It’s a pointless selection which means a young guy doesn’t have a game under his belt when they desperately need it.

Love the Mackay selection after watching six weeks of half the team moving at a snails pace the entire game and no forward ball movement to see him in full flight turning it over mid centre square will be a welcome change from a long high kick down the wing.

on a more serious note I don’t see the problem, he’s exactly the type of senior player you want when your tanking. His attitude and work rate are top notch I’d rather see him included than another week of laird,lynch and Matt crouch.

Matt Crouch should have been dropped, not Poholke

The Crouches haven’t been great this year, but they are still worth persisting with in various roles. In terms of structure, we simply do not need Hartigan or Kelly. Even with their big guys, surely Talia, Doedee, One of Hartigan/Kelly and McAsey suffices. Walker, Murphy, Hartigan/Kelly out for McAasey, Stengle and Macpherson. If senior players continue to play poorly then sure, pull the trigger... but not for Mackay.
