So it would seem logical to add an attacking player, such as Worrell as a replacement.

Which of course means we will pick Mackay.
Agree Worrell the better candidate as Mackay is solely the outside receiver. But he won’t be able to replicate what Hamill was doing for us in the first 3 quarters vs Hawthorn.

It just is what it is, need to adjust expectations accordingly. It will look like Nicks is a worse coach without Sloane’s clearance play + defence, and without Hamill’s counter attacks. But it’s just personnel.

I'm not expecting to win, but I don't go in expecting to win ANY game this year. I'll settle for a solid effort so that we don't get blown away, and getting some more gradual improvement out of our young players. Hoping for a bigger game from Hately now that he's had a run last week.

There's really no downside of Berry being medical sub this week

If we cop an early injury and he comes on, fine

If he only gets a short run, fine (no problem having a light week after missing through injury)

If he doesn't play at all and eases back through the SANFL on Sunday, also fine

PROVIDING

That he plays AFL next week, no matter the result or individual performances this week.

So one of Mackay/Murray in for Hamill. You'd think we'd pick Murray given the Giants size, which would allow Kelly to be matched up on the smaller Himmelberg, let Doedee free a bit more and put Brown on Greene. Mackay exposes us far too much defensively down back, so I expect we'll pick him.

It's the perfect time to debut Worrall?? Why the **** are we giving game time to Mackay still??

We just saw how much better Thilthorpe looked at AFL level compared to SANFL, we have to give Worrall a chance, particularly with two defenders going down, added to the fact that GWS are alot taller forward.

Worrell isn't playing because we'll have Butts & Murray as our two tall defenders, and we don't need 3x KPD sized players in our back line.

I'm still hoping/expecting that Mackay will be the sub.

Right now, it's looking as if the changes will be:
OUT: Hamill (inj), Lynch (sub, inj)
IN: Murray, Mackay (sub)

I don't know how anyone can really bitch & moan about those changes.

I'd like to ask why Berry is playing SANFL

So, how is everyone feeling about this weeks game? I'm very pessimistic. I just don't see us winning.
GWS have been playing poorly this year and have a terrible coach, but their talent level is >>>>>ours.

We played 3 terrible quarters against North and 1 poor quarter and 2 terrible quarters against Hawthorn. They are the two bottom teams.

We are not in form or playing well. I'm hopeful we will turn it around, but don't think we will.
If we win, great. If we lose, hello draft position.

Can he play SANFL on Sunday if he is the Sub Saturday?

From Nicks' press conference, it sounds like Brown won't play. That might open the door for Worrell, though possibly as the sub.

I hope not. Debuting a kid as the sub really devalues their whole debut experience. If he's going to make his debut, I really hope it's through the starting 22.

Yeh very much not a fan of that (although weirdly, Clarkson seems to like doing it).

Personally I think there couldn't be anything worse than getting that exciting news and then being brought crashing back to Earth as the sub.

Have said since day 1 this year we need another top 3 draft pick and my position hasn't changed. That's why I would be happy if they continue to just develop kids this year and finish in the bottom 4. We need to do a proper rebuild this time and load up on some top tier talent. We've already seen what TT is capable of - get another player of that quality in and we will be contending again in 3-4 years.
