He isn't but he does put on a bit more pressure. I was happy enough with Tabs. People were being unrealistic about what he could do against Ratagolea imo. The guys a monster

Mate, he's 21, Tabs is 31. One has upside, the other has downside. Do I need to say more?

Sturt averages 1.3 goals a game over his career.

Better than Banfield (0.6); Switta (0.6); Emmett (1).

Give him a proper run and a functioning forward like and he could average 2.

no one is saying Sam sturt is the savior of our team. But he’s got something no one else in the team has bar amiss : goal kicking

Banfield probably averages the same in games where he's actually played forward.

You can't argue Sturt would average 2+ in a functioning forward line when he's part of the reason why we don't have a functioning forward line.

People underestimate his role in the team. With him, Treacy and Amiss get easier opponents. Treacy and Jackson struggled, which is exactly the same scenario last two weeks without Darcy.

Jackson is so easy to defend. Just doesn’t have that contested marking that everyone think he has.

The Darcy needing to rest (managed minutes so Jackson went into the ruck more often) left him as the second most dangerous forward, behind Treacy (without Amiss), so they used their best tall defenders on him. It isn't what he wanted but there was no-one else. Bana's was the next tallest and he just can't play that role. Fyfe went there occasionally but our midfield was already coping a caning.

Voss is more like Corbett. He’s a medium forward.

3 weeks ago he got 36 possessions at Peel. We need to find out how he goes at AFL level. I remember his first few games for us and he did better than he is doing now, he looked more at home out there. I hate to say it but perhaps he's being 'overcoached', potentially like the team as a whole.

He does lead though. Takes a good grab. Iffy goal kicker. Would prefer him in the forward line to Bannas. Can't see why him and Tabs couldn't both come in. Sturt is better as a small.

Sturt: ****ing useless without ball in hand. Unfortunately we literally have nobody else. I love long term KPP injuries.
Johnson: I genuinely pay no attention to him at all during any game this season. Needs to change his shoes. He hasn't stood out to me as good or bad in any game. Bit of a nothing player.
Emmett: Pressure that never pays off. Step off it. But again, no one else.
Hughes: Literally useless. Chapman, Worner, Wagner, I'll take any one of them. Please.

Have you watched Voss play for Peel, he hasn’t done anything to tell me he is better than Tabs. He may have kicked 3 today, but one was from a second free kick like the one Carlton got against us and the other two weee pretty easy in a 11 goal win. I’m yet to see him take a strong pack mark or any strong mark this year

He tackles with intent, he’s physically intimidating. He makes defenders nervous and they make stupid decisions exiting our forward line. He’s like mini Treacy.

Improving our forward half defense is exactly how we increase scoring dumbass. It's common sense. We either let the oppo walk it outside our 50 and then intercept in our d50 and try and get a score going from there, or we lock it in our forward half and get repeat entries and force oppo turnovers.

Agree with this.
Stanley should be sub. He was an impactful sub last year. He’s definitely better than Erasmus and JOM in that role. But I guess he needs more fitness.

But seriously though, he applied zero defensive pressure tonight with a grand total of zero tackles. That was the reason why he was kept out of the side for so long last year when we were all harping on to get him into the team (myself included). JL basically told the media at the time that his defensive work wasn't up to scratch and that he knew what he needed to work on at Peel.

I'm sure you saw how easily the ball bounced out of the forward half tonight? He only did half the job.

I personally wouldn't drop Sam Sturt.

I say Sam Sturt is the most accurate set shot goal kicker not only in the forward line but in the whole squad.

Sure Sam Sturt doesn't apply a lot of forward pressure or tackle.

But if there's is one bloke up forward on that side you want to have 10 or 12 disposals and 3 or 4 set shots all game and confident he will nail 100 percent of them, Sam Sturt is one of those 2 blokes on that list. The other is Jye Amiss

He doesn't know any other way. Watch it happen on Thursday. What will also happen is instead of trying to attack the Dogs, JL will be scared of losing a shootout, and will double down on his ultra defensive gameplan. Will aim to recreate the Crows/Port/Blues games and try to strangle a 70-60 type of victory.

They are really strong forward so we wanted to play with a good defence
They like to spread and move the ball quickly so we tried to lock the game down
etc etc

We spend too much time worrying about what the opponent is going to do.
