Cloke was ok last week. Didn't deserve to be dropped after one game. This is not the first time an established player has fallen out with the club, seems to be an annual event these days.
I give up officially for this year. The whole board is about Cloke who has issues but has at least shown that he can be a valuable player.....but good ol Sinclair keeps staying on the ground.....handballing to teammates standing still and getting himself knocked out because he can't tackle.....we tried him forward dud....back dud and each week there is always someone who played worse and he get's overlooked for the chop. I said it two years ago......as long as this dud gets a game, we have no chance whatsoever...he was out injured for two weeks and guess what? we won both games......I'll give him credit for one thing though.....the bootlace he wears on his head is working with someone at the club

Cloke dropped when White, Frost, Toovey, Greenwood played worse. And for all people in Witts, a slow peaheart who occasional wins a hitout but does nothing else. Geez its selections like these that make me want to switch teams.
Agree Cloke should have been given another game

Phillips should skip all team meetings between now and the game.

He must watch on loop Ricky Barham's debut against Hawthorn in 1977. 5 goals and incinerated Rocket Eade.

No team game, no zone. See the ball, grab it and run. Then slam it through from 45, old school.

And if Barham's beta tape wears out, start on Peter Matera youtubes.

Cloke is done...I didn't believe it until now, but dropped after one game?... He won't be at the club next year

So we have another shiny new toy to salivate over? Good luck to Phillips. I especially like WalterBlaknWhte's allusion to Ricky 'Racehorse' Barham. We can only hope, and watch with great anticipation as 2016 falls to pieces around us.

Maybe the standards for a highly paid player are higher than for others? Maybe he needs to get his confidence back and it's obvious it won't happen in AFL so needs to do it in VFL.

Are you willing to share who you think should be shown the door for good?

Maybe the standards for highly paid player are different? very true! this is probably why the team is full of mid ranged battlers on so so money keeping a spot in the 22 even when mediocrity is produced week after week.

Buckley is not right for this club, Its not just game plans, results and on field effort or lack there of, The club and Team are striving to acheive the highest standards ever set in all areas and are failing dismally in all areas and have been for five years. If this was Joe Blow coaching us he would have been gone 2 years ago, There has to be a tipping point and I reckon it will come sooner rather than later.

Perhaps, but Buckley is Eddie's appointment - he engineered the transition from MM to Buckley so in effect if he was to remove Buckley it would amount to an admission that he (Eddie) f***ed up the entire thing.... not sure if his ego would allow him to do that.

Our list is screwed. We used to be infected with the Colliwobles. Unfortunately we are now suffering a different infection - Hollow Sack Syndrome.

HSS is a new age sissy boy infliction which has symptoms of guys playing footy with no hairy boys hanging between their legs. Can also be confirmed in those infected by showering with their bathers on and also constantly visiting waxing studios to ensure all hair is removed.

Our guys need to grow a set like Stan the Man had. He was featured as a cult figure on the pies website this week because he played every game with a pair of beachballs between his legs.

Grow a set you pack of pansies. Get out and do your jumper proud, not that pathetic crap you've been serving up.

PS - to Bucks - time to buck off.

The only time I recall ever playing Brown forward was in 2009, in his second AFL season. I just see that he has pace on a straight line lead, strength and would apply tremendous defensive pressure. I don't see the harm in trying it, it'll hardly make or break our season.
Agree. Our season is broken. In that regard we could also trial Cloke in the backline. I'm more for playing the youth and keeping Cox developing. I'd have no issue bring Brown back in for games against power forwards like Casboult.

There are a couple issues with Cloke's game that I think has lead Trav to this situation:

1. He hasn't adapted his game, he still is playing the same way he did in 2010/11, which in those years was brilliant, but in the last couple of years, has seen clubs just sit a couple of defenders on him through the zoning and his biggest asset is more or less ineffective. The stand and wrestle simply doesn't work anymore.

2. Work rate and two way running. Trav isn't a great exponent of this, and when your structures and game plan is built on this it makes Trav a liability on defence. That was what made the Cox/Moore/White combo effective. Individually none have gone passed Cloke as yet but as a combo they worked to team structures much better, working up the ground on defence and getting back to the forward line on offence and often effected play on transition. You can live with the mistakes, but the work rate has to be there.

3. His goal kicking. It has always been a problem, but it seems to have gotten worse, and it seems to be more deflating on his team mates when he does miss, than it used to be. My Dad who is a Crows fan, said in the Port game he thought it was noticeable when he missed.

4. Trav doesn't seem to want to adapt. Based on what I've heard him say in his interviews in the last few weeks, and the way he played on the weekend, I don't know that he wants to change the way he plays. That's his choice, but if the coaches have told him who he was sent back to the 2s and what they need him to do to get back in, I don't think he's done it, because on the weekend with him it was the same old, same old.

I know people want to blame the coaches for his misfortune, but the problem is so does Travis. The problem on the weekend wan't necessarily that he played badly, but that he didn't work to team structures, and put in the work rate required to play the role he was required to play (and the role that Moore has been playing over the last few weeks prior to injury).

We will see. He will get his chance at another club next year and I expect him to return to his best.
I'd love t see Cloke play some decent footy but TBH I don't think he's capable -he just seems a shadow of what he once was. There's been a steady decline for the past couple of years

What number is Phillips? Please tell me hes number 43....

Cloke's game on Sunday wasn't much different to what he did the first few weeks. If that is the basis for dropping him again then fair play. He should've been breathing fire against Port but he wasn't.

On the plus side it means Jesse White can play well again, for some reason Cloke's presence puts him back in his shell.

From most reports Marley didn't actually play that well in the VFL. I'm not finding it hard to accept anything, I simply disagree with you that a player who's played 3 quarters of average football in the last 6 weeks should be a walk up start.
Well he wouldn't be a walk up start since he had played 3 quarters. In any event I doubt that Marley would have made the winning difference but he is a much better alternative than oxley maynard Sinclair et al. I don't recall marley's man kicking 4 goals very often vfl or afl.

Can't like the HSS enough.
I don't mind the hairstyles, enough top knots and pony tails amongst the cast in Vikings, can't accuse them of HSS.
It is a bit like this

I wasn't shocked with selection last night, and to be honest I'm surprised by comments around this board re: Bucks and Cloke.

- Players say "Bucks isn't tough enough".
- Bucks gets tough. Players step up.
- Players get injured, reserves are brought up - ready or not. Cloke plays but effort not there.
- Bucks gets tough. Drops said player, adhering to the team code "It's about work rate".

And then people here lose their shit and say Buckley has lost the plot?!?

It's been said here before by JOELY but when I saw Cloke charge at the pack in Q3 and then FLINCH and then SHIRK THE CONTEST in the goalsquare his cards were marked. Whatever's not working for him, time's up. Had time to fix goalkicking, had time to modify gameplan, had time to just step up and be a leader. Hasn't shown any of that. Absolutely love, love, love the big man for all he's given to the club but it's time to go.

And for all the frustration I've felt re: coaching/gameplan all year, I still back Bucks until Round 23 in his decision to instil in the playing group some sense of urgency for their spot and for maximum effort.

The players that 'should' be dropped (in BigFooty's opinion) - Frost, Toovey, Sinclair, White, et al - are still putting in effort even if they get the gameplan wrong. It's a pretty clear baseline and I think Bucks is going to sacrifice some skill error so that at least those who play by the rules will get a pardon as long as they battled hard. Clearly Bucks is also about skill - and you can see his frustration when simple kicks, handballs go wayward - but I think he sees skill error as the lesser of the evils.

To be honest, Cloke and Oxley are not going to be missed one way or another. But when our workrate goes missing, our games this year have completely collapsed.
