Big week for the Match Committee this week , probably there biggest since last week .

Out - Butler , Wellingham , Masten*

In - Hurn , Partington , Priddis*

Lycett maybe another in the WAFL if he breaks down in the first half we are stuffed and Scott is great potential but injury prone and not worth the risk unless someone cannot play .( Vardy )

Pridda needs more time and shouldn't change a winning midfield today

I agree with this.

Partington deserves the nod after all his great form and being the next in line (emergency) this week. You can move Duggan back to defence to cover Butler/Wellingham and have Partington play more through the mid.

I dont see more than those two forced changes because we did get a pretty good win.

The following week I feel as though JK comes in for either Petrie or Emac though - otherwise we're too tall

Will be a joke if Priddis comes straight back in, on form isn't best 22 and should earn a call up through the WAFL.

Given the EP bye next week, and up against Ryder, I reckon they'll want Lycett in and playing, one of Vardy/Petrie to be given a rest.
Wellingham > Hurn
Butler > JK (Gov back, Emac to play on a "small")
Masten > Parto

Those 3 play that game today we'd of lost by 4 goals. Got to stay young and fast, its working. Hurn's only role in our 22 is to take kick ins and we managed that fine without him today, 20 metre chips to the pocket down 400%
Yes always get the impression with Hurn that he plays within his comfort zone - never get the impression that he's giving of his "all". To me Shuey bleeds blue & gold - just don't see the same with Hurn for some reason. Probably just one of those laconic type of players?

Personally I just think he was a good footballer who's coming to the end of his career and the way the game is played in 2017 he's just an awkward fit down back. Not tall enough to play key position, not elite enough in the air to play loose man, not fast enough to be a rebounding half back, not fit enough to push into midfield, not agile enough to shut down electric small forwards, doesn't get the ball enough or in dangerous position to use is elite kicking- which is no-where near as elite as it was anyway. I'd love for us to find a spot for him but aside from taking kick ins he doesn't offer much in the back 6, we're better off with the kind of mix we took in today. If he wasn't captain he'd be a fringe player at this stage of his career.

Don't envy the MC this week as there's some difficult decisions ahead if the following players are declared fit to play

Lecras
Priddis
Kennedy
Hurn
Nelson
Schofield
Hill

Plus Partington and Lycett playing well enough for long enough to be considered for a spot

So nine potential ins and only butler and Wellingham looking as outs due to injury

I'm not even going to try guess what the changes might be

It will be a hard week for the MC. Can see us going way too tall this week with JK hopefully back and Lycett proabably needed to go up against Ryder. None of the talls deserve to be dropped. Can see Priddis and the rest of the senior citizens being brought straight back in. Not too confident they'll give Parto a run either, probably pulled him out of the game this week so he didn't put another big game up that would force their hand:smirk:

Could see the changes looking like this,

Out: Sweet Butsy Buts (inj), Wellingham (inj), Masten, Vardy / Petrie (rest?), Cole, Redden

In: Nelson, Hurn, Kennedy, Priddis, Lycett, LeCras.

B: Hurn Mackenzie Barrass
HB: Duggan McGovern Sheppard
C: Gaff Mitchell Sheed
HF: Jetta Darling Cripps
F: Vardy/Petrie Kennedy LeCras
R: Lycett Shuey Yeo

Int: Nelson Hutchings Karpany Priddis

What I want to see

Out: Butler, Wellingham, Masten, Vardy/Petrie

In: Nelson, Kennedy, Partington, Lycett

B: Sheppard Mackenzie Barrass
HB: Duggan McGovern Nelson
C: Gaff Mitchell Sheed
HF: Jetta Darling Karpany
F: Vardy/Petrie Kennedy Cripps
R: Lycett Shuey Yeo

Int: Partington Redden Hutchings Cole

Probably need another small/ medium defender in there though.

Depending on how bad Butlers hammy is, this could have potentially been his last game for the club.

It will be interesting to see how the MC play the game on inclusions. The good news is that we are starting to have selection issues. Despite another couple of injuries this weekend, we have a large contingency of possible in. The question I have is who deserves what treatment? Surely we need to address out of form, rustiness, chance to get over niggles and rewarding strong WAFL form.

I am looking at what criteria there is to include:-

Without a Doubt
Hurn - club captain and despite calls by some, he was fully justifying his place and concussion really means straight back. The loss of Wellers and Butler makes this an easy call.
Kennedy - reigning Coleman Medallist and leading our goal kicking is a no brainer. He comes straight back assuming 100% fit, only take through EP if needing to manage minutes

We Need Him
Lycett - Pretty much did all you could want in his return - this week getting 67 kit outs, 21 dispsals and a goal. Vardy and Petrie are doing enough but against Ryder, we just need a pure ruck. Include Lycett and rejig the side or possible manage one of Vardy/Petrie or drop McGovern down back for one of Barrass or Mackenzie (later is more deserving of place).

Playing Decent Football Before Injury
Nelson - one of the few that offer genuine pace as well as toughness. Tempting to rush him back but would only consider being picked if 100% right. Probably takes Cole's spot.
Schofield - I had him down as an omission prior to being rested and think Mackenzie has taken over as the next tall. Barrass is still making mistakes and I would rather give him games than Schofield so he is not an in this week and come back via WAFL. Also puts the fingers up to the AFL MRP with our reason for challenging.

They Were Out of Form - Back via EP
Priddis - he was obviously carrying something that made him look awful and another week off would not be a problem. Then I would look at bringing him in via EP. With Redden getting 21 disposals, 6 clearances and 8 tackles, we did not miss him.
LeCras - was not playing good football and possibly rushed back. Like Priddis, another week off is possibly a good thing and Karpany looks to have done very well in his role. This is a 2 season issue with LeCras so I would make him don the Royals jumper and come back through WAFL.
Hill - no idea what his illness was and has been in and out a bit of late. I would say he is another that should probably come via EP.

A New Concept - Development
Partington - Like a number here, really not sure what the kid needs to do to warrant a game. With another pitiful performance from Masten, it feels like a no brainer but this has been said before.
Mutimer - his recent games were OK without being stand out. Another great WAFL performance with 32 disposals, 7 tackles and 2 goals. Would be an option off half back if needed and show that WAFL performances count for something.
Lamb - I love the fact that he is showing something this year and on the wing, he could be something. It would love to see him rewarded for effort and given games before the end of the year. Not at the expense of Parto but he would be better on the wing than Masten

So with all that, I am thinking JK is only an outside chance so will assume not yet available. I am also thinking Vardy needs a week off to recover and

In: Lycett, Hurn, Partington
Out: Wellingham (inj), Butler (inj), Masten (omitted)

This side may be too tall. If so, then one of Vardy/Petrie/Mackenzie/Barrass would need be left out (all with regrets and merit staying in). If MC think we need smaller and more mobility, then Mutimer/Lamb come in.

The criticism of hurn on here is way off. He's a general in our defence and was badly missed in the last quarter yeasterday. Mitchell was even put in the backline for a bit in the last purely for his leadership and guidance, something that hurn would normally do. His one on one defending is also underrated. Doesn't get beat often and can play big and small, he's clearly a walk up start if fit.

In: hurn, nelson, partington, lycett

Out: butler, Wellingham, masten, vardy(rest)

I also reckon lycett will come in and give vardy a rest. He looked quite sore today, which made his game even more impressive. If Kennedy is fit he comes in instead of nelson an gov goes back

I think the calls for Hurn are more directed to him to step up as captain and lead the team, not so much that he is playing poorly.

In the last quarter yesterday, we were missing Wellers and Butler in addition to McGovern and Hurn so not surprising we were short on leadership. We had Duggan and Cole who have each only played 2 games in defence this year.

Also think Sheppard got a heavy contact very early in the game and he was probably struggling towards the end.

I got a feeling that one of Emac or Barrass will get the chop this week. Both had brain fades at times and they both aren't in Simmo good books. McGovern will play back instead and Lycett will come in, Kennedy will be back so Govs forward time is up. Priddis comes in because we all know he won't be dropped if his 100% unfortunately.

So in Kennedy, Lycett, Partington, Priddis, Hurn.

Out one of Emac/Barrass, Masten, Butler, Wellingham. Maybe Sheppard if sore and what to do about Vardy because can't have too many big man with Lycett back.

In saying that I like the Kennedy Petrie combo with Darling third tall, Karpany and Partington start in the forwardline as crumbers, Cripps won't get dropped but I'd be tempted to try Lamb. He will probably ask for a trade soon so if we can get him up it will only raise his asking price on a trade table. Get nothing for him right now, think he will be a ok player if given a chance. Another team will reap the benefits with him and that pisses me off.

Surely we dont make that many changes after an away win. Would be 3 or 4 max
yeah but problem is if Hurn, Kennedy, Lycett and Priddis are fit do you think Simmo would leave them out.
Also we want Partington in aswell hopefully so that's 5 changes already need to make.

Butler and Wellingham injured so that's an easy two to replace.

The reality is that Priddis, Kennedy, Hurn and Lecras are walk up starts and will all come in when declared fit to play. Brace yourself
Yeh, it's going to happen. Match committee will be patting themselves on the back for playing the kids for a few weeks and then drop them all this week for the plod patrol.

OUT: Wellingham (inj), Masten (omitted), Butler (inj)
IN: Partington, Hurn, Nelson, Partington Partington Partington Partington Partington Partington Partington PARTINGTON
PARTINGTON

If Lecrap and Priddis are NOT made to play WAFL first before coming back (on form otherwise force them to sign their retirements) I will be LIVID!

Assume JJK not back next week. If he's back then OUT: Petrie (rested). IN: JJK
