People saying to drop petrol because he overruns the ball need to settle down.

Showed he can slot a difficult goal and one of the few guys that actually hit Josh on the lead today.

He's young and using his strongest attribute which can obviously go against him at times.

Petch stays in. End of!

He has one job and he didn't do it very well today. Stop sugarcoating it.
Bit of a Schofield +/-

-
Allowed McKay team-high 11 marks around ground
McKay with team-high 7 score involvements from 18 touches (three shots himself, involved in 4 other scoring chains; no goal assists)
Embarrassing getting sidestepped on the mark by the young'un for that goal. Will be the butt of jokes all week inside the club for that one

+
McKay only kicks one goal
McKay not regularly inside 50 with ball in hand (only 4 touches i50): takes away opposition best marking target & giving our intercept markers clear advantage. Hardly an influential game from his oppo here.
Good team game not measured on stat sheet - held up play multiple times, crashed packs.
Won a few good 1-on-1s & decent impact with his 8 touches (only 1 ineffective kick, no turnovers)

As far as I can tell, "battled well and did some good things" is more accurate than sugar-coated (unless you're diabetic and really can't take any sugar at all, no judgement fam).

Geez I must've missed something, thought Petch was really good today.
You weren't the guy that missed something mate. He was good, much better than Cameron. Too much is made of the odd scrubber kick. For a young bloke relatively new to the game who is often kicking whilst travelling slightly below the speed of sound, he aint going to hit them all and sometimes it is highlighted. But he also has a lot of kicks that hit the target and is a good set shot. IMO he is in no danger of being dropped.
If Cripps is coming back in it will be either Cameron or Waterman out. If Hutch is coming in too then both of those guys out.

Schoey had his colours lowered but has earned the right not to be dropped after one average game.

EDIT: Match up dependent
Yes it wasnt his best game but I still believe even though his guy took quite a few marks (mostly up the ground) that having him there makes Gov and Barrass a lot more dangerous. I think against the Blues, even with 11 marks against, that we had a net win with Schoey in the team.

Smashed in stoppages today. We will cut to pieces by the Crows if that happens. I'd be happier with Hutchings there, but hard to see who goes out. Sheed surely has enough credits in the bank now, so unless Sheed's really not fit I dunno how else Hutchings fits into the team.

Agree that Cripps is a lock for one of Waterman, Petch or Cameron. Anyone dropped from our forward line would feel bloody stiff, but Crippa is that important. Cameron to be rested perhaps.

This. Biggest concern along with how teams tear us apart with pace and ball movment down the middle. Tactically Simpson hasnt quite solved the bleed yet. Concerning.

Brisbane will demolish us if we continue to play the same way.

This week Crows went in smaller in their forward line with Tex, Lynch and Fogarty. Additionally they only play 1 ruck. This is the week we could go smaller without Schofield. Barrass to take Tex, Gov to take Fogarty and Sheppard to take Lynch. Adelaide had s bye do no idea what will be the story on Jenkins.

Cripps for Cameron. Hutch for Waterman if they decide to play Hutch as a lockdown forward (like the role he played on Saad, which was quite brilliant), unsure who to drop if they play Hutch as a traditional midfield tagger as Simpson tends to play like-for-like and I'm not sure which mid should be dropped. Will be academic if Redden is suspended for tackling someone too well.

Don’t mind the idea of Hutchings going in to put a forward tag on Laird. Otherwise I can’t see him coming in. There’s no space for him in the midfield right now and it’s not like the Crows have a dominant mid who we desperately need to put a hard tag on.

Cripps for Waterman is a no-brainer. Waterman played well yesterday and would be unlucky but he hasn’t shown the consistency at this level. Cripps is a walk-up start

We're going to need Schofield against any of Geelong, Brisbane, Richmond, Collingwood, GWS. I reckon we stick with him for the sake of continuity.

It was Milera who tore us a new one last time we played.

Think Cameron needs a rest and Waterman just doesn’t apply enough defensive pressure when we already have 3 other tall forwards in the side.

It’s like the #2 on his jumper has imbued him with the tackling power of Le Cras.

So I’d be inclined to go Cripps and Hutchings in for Cameron and Waterman. Hutch to tag Laird.

It’s possibly going too far the other way but we can’t afford to drop a game from here and it’d be nice to see if Cameron can build up some new momentum in the WAFL as a potential wildcard toward finals.

Agree with your post. Schoey did some good things. He won a couple of battles and managed to clear the ball into out forward half. We’ll need him to pay lock down to Tex next weekend.

I get the desire to have Schofield in the team but in the next 3 games, we will not need his added height. Adelaide are playing smaller and Richmond forward line has been with Jack R and Lynch with smalls around them.

Looking at the Beagles performance on Saturday, I though Rotham was our best defender. Unfortunately Watson was involved in some rubbish bomb it long kicks into our forward line which hurt our momentum. Maybe it was lack of awareness with the wind at Basso - when I played at the oval, the wind was really difficult to read (unless a straightforward westerly) and screwed around with good players decision making.

His arm made contact with Setterfield’s head in a routine tackle, and the umpire audio said Setterfield was groggy.

No case to answer.

I thought the tackle was a tad sling tackle and Setterfields head hit the ground and he came up groggy.

We all know that campaigner Christian likes to punish anything concussion related.

If he gets a week then Hutch comes in to tag Sloan. Redden gets a week to freshen up before the Tigers game. Maybe MAllen gets a run? Sheed looked out of sorts as well.

I’d be very tempted to give Hutch and Cripps a run in the WAFL (purely for match fitness). Adelaide aren’t setting the world on fire atm so it might be worth giving the likes of Petch and Cameron more game time in the big league. Having said that, Adelaide do have a lot to play for and will throw the kitchen sink at us...hmmm. 🤔🤔🤔

Looking forward to Campaignertians findings today. His ears would have pricked up at Barrass and “dangerous” and can guarantee Redden will get 9 weeks or something
