In the off season it looked like we were developing this incredible list of players we would cycle through the midfield and we would be so dynamic - no idea where that plan went. Instead we now have all these great forward flanks.

I feel like Burgess doesnt add enough as second ruck that we should be hung up on that, maybe something like Borlase second rucks from the backline and we go in shorter/faster up front with all these guys.

Just play Strachan. Bloke can actually mark and kick a ball!

Ned needs to become a permanent sub, as he seems to have a bigger impact coming on for 1Q than playing an entire game.
Jones is just SO vanilla. It's not even the quantity of times Hinge is coughing the ball up, it's the manner in which he's doing it. His errors are causing direct goals by being careless in dangerous areas of the ground.

Very very concerned about Rachele's ceiling.

I know we need to give a few games to the new kids, but it was SO disappointing that not ONE of them gave us a glimmer of something exciting. I think we really needed one of them to announce themselves. Cook for me seemed to do OK for his 56% time on ground. Parnell 74m gained for his position was NOT good, zero tackles.

Parnell, Cook, Keays, McHenry, Nank, Burgess, Jones - all very pedestrian. Jones and McHenry in particular are at the age now where they need to be making an impact on the game and they're just SO middling.

It's all well and good saying we should make some changes, but the only players i see potentially coming in are:

Curtin, Dowling, Pedlar, Sholl, Berry. There really is no one else to select..

Complicating matters is that there isn't really a position for Curtin at the moment. Pedlar desperately needs some minutes in the SANFL to play himself back into form, Dowling would be a great addition but where would you put him, and who does he come in for? Very similar to Berry, who will get a game ahead of him.

Out: Parnell, Burgess, McHenry
In: Dowling, Curtin, Berry (McHenry sub)

Curtin with equal game high 10 marks in last weeks SANFL game. He can't be any worse than Burgess, swing him forward and give him some minutes. We're crying out for some connection to the FWD line and at this stage Fog/Walker and Burgess aren't willing to work up the ground too much. Curtin would also add some F50 defensive pressure, which we're crying out for. Rankine is our highest I50 tackler per game, and he's ranked 52nd in the AFL (he had zero tackles I50 against Melb). We seem to have a lot of half forwards (Rachele, Pedlar, Keays, Murphy) but none of them want to apply pressure and tackle I50

Again, i pointed out ALL of Fremantles Key Forwards put in the defensive work I50 last week, and same again this week with Melb, Van Rooyen with 4 tackles and Chandler 3

Swing Laird into the backline in place of Parnell, to give us SOME run, Berry into the middle and let Downling come in and rotate wing/middle. DO SOMETHING

Out: Ned (ball watching pr*ck), Burgess (invisible), Parnell (ditto)
In: don't care

After 4 games the season is a write off. Won't be coming back for next year's gather round, don't even feel up to fronting up for Carlton next week. At least I can enjoy the rest of the weekend as a neutral.

Watching last night had me wondering 1 thing more than anything else. What is Luke Nankervis going to look like after 60 games (and how bloody long will it take for the selectors to get him there).

Feel like that kid could end up with a Jordan Dawson like trajectory if we prioritise his development in the AFL side. Can't see any obvious flaws, just mountains of upside.

Dowling's game style is nothing like Berry, not even close, he's more Dawson than Laird/Crouch minus the elite kick...Berry is an in and under contested player, Dowling plays his best outside the contest as the outside receiver that does his best work between the arcs.

Sounds like the type of player we're crying out for

The season 4 games in is cooked. Lets bring in the next generation.

What should happen

Out: Nicks, McHenry, Berry, Smith, Rachele, Burgess
In: Burns, Curtin, Pedlar, Ryan, Gollant, Dowling

What will happen

Out: Cook, Nankervis, Parnell, Burgess (injured)
In: Sholl, Himmelberg, Hamill, Pedlar

Burns is a hack.

Have you seen our forward line?

This has been obvious for well over a year now, and more likely 2 years.

Our selectors wouldn’t know footy talent if it bit them in the arse.

Good to see Murphy get to 100 games though!

out Parnell, Jones, Berry

In: Dowling, Curtain
Another team nicks won't pick

Max Butts Worrell
Curtin Keane Nank
Hinge Soligo Dowling
Pedlar Walker Rachele
Laird Fogarty Burgess

ROB Dawson Rankine

Cook Edwards Taylor Crouch

In
Edwards Taylor Dowling Pedlar Curtin

Out
McHenry Parnell Smith Keays Jones

I would debate anyone that says the ins don't make us a stronger team. Put Murray and Thilthorpe in that team and a good coach would get them to top 8.
Slight Change just to give us more balance and leveraging strengths

Max Butts Worrell
Laird Keane Nank
Hinge Soligo Dowling
Pedlar Walker Rachele
Keays Fogarty Burgess

Followers: ROB Dawson Rankine

Interchange
Curtin, Smith, Taylor, Cook, Edwards

I think Keays can maybe give us some gut running and pressure up forward. Rachele needs to lift otherwise happy for him to go out.

Moves I would make:
Parnell gone. Just gone.
Laird to back pocket.
Cook must play wing and stay there. Yes he fades out of games, but Cook with 50 games experience makes us a much better team.
Nank plays wing and stays there. Jones comes off bench as rotation through wings and backlines if needed.
Hinge or Smith out. Both are playing poorly. Hinge at this stage for me - his kicking is a liability. Curtin comes in and plays half back, not as a tall defender.
Moving Laird out means the midfield is more dynamic. Also allows Berry to play the in and under role more. Crouch rotates through bench with Berry. I want midfield minutes for Rankine, Rachele and Dowling. They all rotate with Soligo and Dawson. Either Crouch or Dawson are always in a CB.

Team:
Laird Butts Max
Worrell Keane Curtin
Cook Soligo Nankervis
Dowling Walker Keays
Rachele Fog Rankine

1R: ROB Crouch Dawson

INT: Smith, Jones, Burgess, Berry
SUB: Ned

Tell me this doesn't look a better balanced team.

Imagine Cook with 35 games experience on the wing as well.
What we have done is both dumb and neglectful.

Who even friggen cares anymore.

Club is a disgrace. At every single level. Every facet of this organisation is pathetic.
I thought you said last year, you weren't watching any Crows games ......so how would you know ?

You didn't lie to us, did you ....

My point is sure he is definitely in our premiership team but we need to make it known that players are not in a golden ticket club and frankly, he has not looked dangerous at all. The first half today I thought he was the sub. He was non existent against Fremantle and Geelong. I think a couple of weeks in the Sanfl to wake him up is not the worst idea.
The artist formerly known as "Izak Rankine" could do with a dose of this too!

How does McHenry survive even as a sub? Berry actually as a sub offers more.

I certainly didn’t lie. For a 2-3 year period I maybe saw 5 games total. Why would I lie? But I’ve watched a few this year.

Pick Curtin, Edwards, Ryan would be a first for the AFC in that we are too conservative at selection. Especially playing away.

I feel like he took a fair few intercept marks last year which seems to be missing this year.
Also he would charge head long at the ball, collect it and hand pass off to a runner at times.

Our overlap run is non existent under the current game plan so Hinge is just smashing everything on his boot. This why his shit disposal looks so stark now.

Is Parnell just too small for AFL? He's supposed to be a good kick, but I don't think it's elite enough to cover for all the other deficiencies.
Caleb Daniel is 4 kgs lighter and 7cm shorter, but he does have a few strings to his bow and great evasiveness...Parnell did show something in his few games a couple of years back, but I feel he's regressed like many of our potentials have.
