We would be better balanced with a player like him in our side. A player like him. But not him.

The idea of Karl Amon and the reality of Karl Amon are very different things. For every one of those pinpoint kicks into the 50 he pulls out occasionally, there's four or five soft efforts or unforced clangers.
This is how I see it too.

Motlop's game last week is the type of performance we need from our wingmen on a consistent basis. Motlop and Polec both in form and using the ball well on the wings is a big boost for us, as is Wingard streaming forward with the footy from centre square stoppages. Amon playing this week is not a catastrophe by any means, but it's certainly not the answer to us being successful in finals either.

Reckon if Amon plays it’s purely a management strategy to keep our players fresh during an increased training load.

The Karl haters need to understand that we are better balanced with a player like him (or Barry) in our side. I think structure wise if it is as expected (i.e. Amon, Hombsch, Gray in for Trengove, Jonas, Johnson), its our best side structurally for the year.

Then there is the answer right here as to what type of player to target in the off season. Cos the ones we have to fill the need aren't good enough.

It's either Amon, Farrell or S.Gray who misses out. Two of these three will play. Everyone else on our interchange (except Watts and Thomas who will play in Perth) has been named for the Maggies. We don't keep selection a mystery to the last moment anymore. We have a transparent selection policy. Ken usually announces the team 6 hours before he has to.

If SGray is fit, I hope Amon is the travelling emergency. We do need to see what some new players can do. We need to look at Farrell and Lienert in particular. Lienert can wait a few weeks as this week it is about getting Hombsch settled in and attacking a weak Freeo line up with no Johnson, Ballantyne, Pearce, Logue, Fyfe, Brayshaw, Bennell, Blakeley, Tabener, Sandilands or Spurr.

The perfect time to blood Farrell who has been in constant good form at the level below.

Is it on record that we have increased our training load? Would make sense for what our fixture has been the last few weeks.

Nothing officially confirmed but combine our somewhat lacklustre performances in recent weeks (carlton, saints) where we just ground out wins and the fact the players have been given extended time off this week from training points to pre-finals loading

For every good kick Amon does he makes just as many unforgivable errors. I have no problem with a runner in the side for balance. I have a problem though when players who have consistently shown to not be able to hack it at AFL level because of both skill errors and a lack of ferociousness around the footy are getting games in our side.

Giving such a soft player like Amon a game undermines everything the club has said about being "unconditional" in its approach on-field.

We will take a travelling emergency so one will travel and not play.

I love this Ford. Also a good vertical leap. Hes got the tools. I hope we unleash him

He doesn't get as much of the ball as you would like, but that's understandable as a first year small forward. But he has a nose for goals, decent skill and some good athletic qualities.

I was surprised he was named but I'm hoping he gets a game. We should play him against the Bulldogs, he played for Bendigo so would have family and friends close by.
