I like the idea of giving Petro a rest. He did kick two but he also missed a couple of pretty easy ones - and I didn't see too much of him for most of the game. He's had an unbroken spell and I think a couple of games with the BEagles might make him realise he can't take it for granted. But I can see why the MC like him, I think he'll be a long term player but he might just benefit from a bit of a rest - and a rocket. That could then mean Cameron gets a couple of games. I think Petro is in our best 22 but we need to increase our pool of AFL standard players. So give Cameron a couple, let him find out what it is all about. And let's face it he probably isn't going to play that well every week, but it gives him an idea of what it's about and gives the MC a chance to really get a handle on his talent.
BTW, I am happy picking the best 21 available each week with one spot for a 'development player' (Cameron, Rotham, MAllen etc). Then as the final half dozen rounds approach we pick our best 22 - having seen a few of the fringe players in action.

If Gov suspended - in Tommy B

If NicNat looks ok - out Oscar for some goal kicking practice

Rioli in for Masten with Hutchings going to defensive mid v JOM

For those wanting Nelson our - really! How many goals did Fantasia kick? He’s needed for Bruest.

yep I'm far from Nelsons biggest fan, but he absolutely blanketed one of their most important players. Def holds his spot

Is Barrass actually going to be right to go? If Gov gets rubbed out he is the natural inclusion

On a side night our small forward squad gets me excited: Cripps, Petch, Rioli, Ryan, Cameron and possibly Venebles.......that is of speed and avenues to goal

Might be the only one but I thought Masten was actually ok tonight.

He was, but someone has to make way for the 3 guns who are (hopefully) coming back. The question is whether he can make way for a fwd, or whether that throws out our structure, as Cameron was good on debut.

Out------In (Simple)
Masten Rioli
Barrass Nelson
Naitanui O Allen
or
Out------In (My preference)
Masten Rioli
Barrass Schofield
Naitanui Nelson---And have O Allen play HB and swing to Ruck and FWD
or
Out------In (Good for development)
Masten Rioli
Barrass Nelson
Naitanui Petch---need a break and to improve skills come back for Cameron after 2-4 games

Hope Gov got out of jail

Loved Cameron’s endeavour but the lad can’t run out a game yet and Nic will be on short game time

Two obvious changes for mine are

NN and Rioli for Allen and Cameron (Allen unlucky)

The question then is whether we bring barrass in for Schofield or Nelson

I suspect the latter - could be gov if he gets a holiday - but that only kicks the can down the road

Gov will do well to avoid a week. Because Guelffi's leaning down a bit it was his head that was going to go into the fence, so it might be deemed high.

The one thing in Gov's favour is the action was very much in play and Guellfi's only just out bounds when contact is made. You need to be able to have some sort of physical presence on the ball carrier.

Compared to Frawley on Cameron there isn't as much force and contact is made further away from the fence, but the recipient's head is in a more awkward position which they will factor in.

It would be nice to not have a player suspended again.

I had a bit of a look at some precedent, for whatever that's worth in the circus that is the MRP.

As best I can tell, the last person to be suspended for any incident involving the fence was Andrew Walker in Round 1, 2014. He was also the last person whose actions were deemed intentional, not careless*.

Comparing McGovern's to the Zuurhar and Frawley ones, I think it's a fine. Careless, medium impact, body - fined, clear to play.

I could see them arguing head rather than body, which might be a tough spot because anything above low impact is a week where the head is involved (and it surely won't be low impact unless Guelfi comes back all clear from his scans). An injury occured, so the AFL will make a scene. If they call it intentional, the MRP thread will be legendary.

*Apologies if the cursory Google search let me down. If there's footage of any suspensions since 2014, please let me know.

Gov will get a week. Based on Christiansen, who is the antichrist in my view, he'll argue that it's "results not intent that matters". Based on that ridiculous BS, Gov will get a week regardless of your graphs you've given. The MRO have our number every time. In my personal opinion, nothing we've done recently was worth a week. Vardy's bumpb is a classic example (not that losing Vardy is a terrible thing at the moment)
* Just remember the NN incident and then compare it with Ablett and Fyfe. * I'll never forget this for as along as I live.

I can't believe people want Schoey out. What are you smoking, he's been fantastic lately. I wanna get rid of Nelson but who to replace him with?

Out-> In
Gov - Barrass (because of the MRO, bastards)
Masten - Rioli
Allen - NN (give OA some Beagle time, he'll come back firing and mature like some damn good cheese)
Petch - Ah Chee (Petch needs beagle time for kicking prac. in my opinion - he's great but he sprays literally every shot bar in front, or snaps)

Nelson was a very polished display and hardly done anything wrong ..
