Did Lawson seriously come out and pull a 15D, 8 contested, 3 tackle and 91 ranking points debut game last week? That's pretty impressive.

Chesser is a first round draft pick, in his 3rd season, and has never had a game more than 86 ranking points.

Something has been dodgy with our player development for a long ass time. Sacking some coaches and folding the the Beagles for the old format can't come quick enough for mine.
Eagles current predicament is largely attributable to their recruitment team who have no imagination and just focus on what players can’t do rather than what they can do. They showed no interest in Lawson Humphries when he was in their next gen academy and he is now making a huge difference to Geelong with his exceptional ability to kick as well with either foot, Nick Martin trained with Eagles twice seeking a supplementary spot but they didn’t think he was good enough and he’s gone on to become a star with Essendon, and they ignored Tim Kelly in 3 drafts when he was playing for South Fremantle - they could have picked him up as a rookie but instead they had to pay up 3 first round selections to Geelong to eventually get him. Thank heavens former List Manager Rohan O’Brien is finally gone

I’ll cop some heat, but believe he looks better the Ginbey. Natural footballer, not quite the same athletic profile, but he’s not a slow inside mid.
We all assumed this was a given, but the big question is who do you have as the better prospect Ginbey or Brander?

Close contest between Country vs Allies

Best for Allies was Lombard for me and would be in top 3 conversations if in the open draft. Marshall solid, Shanahan had a good day as did a few of the talls on both sides. Uwland is one to watch next year and will start as a top 10 pick.

Best for Country I thought was Langford once again. Worked hard all day and used his left leg to give Country a heap of inside 50s. Isivic and Onley were also busy in the middle of the ground.

Faul and Whitlock both dangerous up fwd to add to an interesting watch on key position players for the day. Certainly don’t think the Whitlock boys are as athletic as A Reid but still have a presence about them.

Joe Berry had some good moments and certainly uses the ball well. Jaques was solid all day down back. Rarely got beaten and uses the ball really well. Looks to have lots of physical development left in him too so certainly one to watch.

Some of the favourites in here were pretty good too. Toby had a pretty solid game. Lalor with 3 goals and FOS got better as the game wore.

Looking forward to the Vic Metro vs Country game next weekend.

Sounds like he developed significantly when at Swans - May not have been ready or showing signs as NGA

Humphries was first eligible for the AFL draft the same year (2021) as his Hale School team mate and first round draft pick Neil Erasmus. In that same year Humphries was vice captain of Swan Districts premiership colts team which included Darcy Jones and Elijah Hewitt, and he was selected in the WAFL colts team of the year. The year before he was captain of the Hale School First XVIII and won their fairest and best award whilst Neil Erasmus was runner up. Prior to that he was selected in the Indigenous Boomerangs team and also played very well in every game for WA in the national U16’s carnival. He has always shown ability and the Eagles should have picked him up

John Ralph thinks we should split our first round pick for Baker and another first round pick

So Baker for a high first round pick

That’s sick give us a break
Just remember Ralph is a Tigers fan so is writing headlines to appeal to the Yellow and Black Army.

He has consistently shown his journalistic skills to be on the lower shelf

All things considered Finn played pretty well in his first game back from a long injury layoff. He was so underdone that you risk salmonella poisoning just from watching this video. His usually crisp sidestep was limp, and he was caught a number of times with the footy... but as the contest went on he got better and flashed a few moments of elite talent.

Was simply an average outside leaning player in 2021.
You can say with hindsight about many players but I wouldn't have listed him then either.

School footy counts as zero considering how the few top players in it absolutely dominate in a mickey mouse comp.
