For me; onion, pepper, garlic, salt lightly fried off. Then add pork and beef mince. Cook and stir it through. Chop some basil and stir it through, then add some crushed fresh tomatoes and a bottle of pasta sauce to thicken through. Add sliced mushrooms and let it cook on low for 2 hours.
You know for ****en years as a means to diminish red meat in my diet I’d substitute pork in place of beef , always thinking this tastes like crap by comparison, a decade or so later I learn that pork is a ****en red meat too , not white. Now I’m loving my Bolognaise sauce once again with beef ,,
Sorry for the intrusion, normal transition now resumed

As a Sicilian, who's grandparents were born and raised in Sicily, who's grandmother taught the family traditional Italian sauce, I am afraid to tell you that celery was nowhere on the recipe list.

My wife’s best friend is an Italian woman (absolute stunner as well, always checking her out) and she said that Pork was the traditional meat that went in the bolognese sauce. That and beef.

Just do red meat 3 nights a week, chicken x2 and fish x2 or have a meat free day

I personally don’t think pork compliments tomato base as well as beef and now I bloody know it ain’t even white meat I don’t see any point. I actually have gone for a lot of meat free pasta sauces , I’m not vegan just minimising red meat , cheers , enjoy your Italian !

I'm a vegetarian so for me personally celery and carrot is the primary ingredient.

But I always chuck in some faux meats; this one is pretty good:

And I reckon the Sanitarium cans are also decent (I prefer the casserole one to the nutmeat one, just make sure you wash it well though because it has this weird plasma in it that looks like something out of Ghostbusters)

Heard of it- yes, tried it: never.
Pasta is a base . Anyone can do whatever the **** they want to add to it . Just like rice . For me while i admire the modern variations of recipes, i don't admire the attempts to rewrite the history of them. Anyway food , like music etc . is a very subjective discussion, as i guess you well understand .

Disgusting ----- I have followed this club for longer than most of you have been alive . Apart from a couple of periods when we have been ok , we have been very ordinary. Never before have i seen us so badly handle a pre season as we have this one . While the players should accept responsibility for what is going on game day , its about time the people who planned this ****up also put their hands up . So many went under the knife , knowing full well we had a short pre season , and then picking players that were clearly underdone . Why? . Why not pick a team of players who were fully fit and then add players as they became fit(match fit). Easy to blame Misson for this , but was he handed a shit sandwich to start with? All this talk of "Brand" etc is crap . Marketing rubbish that means nothing to me. Either the coaching group realise that the game has moved on from "contested footy" or they should move on . A lot of you have correctly identified what we are lacking, it amazes me the coaches cant see it . Last season was an appetiser, this season shapes up as a complete waste . I really hope we get it together for next year and not just slip into oblivion .

Also, if you don't eat bolognese with spaghetti, what purpose does spaghetti have?
I think it’s eaten with light sauces like oil and garlic or some tomato type sauces. And I think it is generally the pasta for carbonara, though I’m suddenly unsure.

Talking about spaghetti and sauces has been more enjoyable than Melbournes entire season.
It’s been unbelievably shit. It’s not the losing constantly that is the worst part either, though that bit hasn’t been great, it’s watching the way we have played each game that drives me mad.

Apart from the bombers game they've all felt over midway into the 2nd. Like a procession. I've never felt so bored and uninterested, well not since the Neeld era

Been meaning to try the Kangaroo mince. Was a tad worried that maybe it would be too gamey.
Nah, I reckon it just adds to the richness of the flavour. Highly recommend trying it, don't be put off by the smell of the roo when you're browning that off tho, absolutely stinks, but doesn't transfer into the flavour of it.
