Review Dees v the Blood-Stained angels: the Good, Bad and Fugly

Good: May and Oliver our best.

Can stomach a loss to Sydney, good club and humble. I’d be fuming if it was to Geelong.

Ok: Gawn and Trac ok, but not game defining like they were last year. Both tore finals apart last year and were just ok tonight.

We’re backing in our formula and our ability to over come oppo trying to stop it. I get it, you don’t chuck out what worked, but we have to be better than last year and weren’t tonight.

Bad: it’s very tough to go all the way from here.

I suppose the one positive is that at least one side has made the GF from an SF every year after 2014, except 2017. Let’s hope that’s us this year, and we don’t go the way of Sydney 2016, Collingwood 2018, GWS 2019, Geelong 2020 or The Western™️ last year :$

In Brisbane 2003, Sydney 2005, WCE2006, Hawthorn 2015 and Richmond 2020 we trust!

Yeah I'd be looking at trading Salem. Has become a totally liability this year.

Poor Bowey didn't do a lot wrong against Brissy but he would feel pretty annoyed.

Papley is a smug prick but he's also someone I enjoy watching and would kill to have someone of his ilk and arrogance in our team..
Everyone would love to have him on our team

BUT my dislike toward him (papley)is to much
I love mills and heeney. But paps is such a campaigner again he is the campaigner every one wants!

Danster's Positive Post:

- We've got the double chance and we're playing Brisbane. And whilst beating Brisbane next week won't tell us anything about how we're truly doing, it gives us a big chance to get our sh!t sorted before we come up against a true flag threat, hopefully the week after. I'm confident we beat Brisbane.

- Back to the game, we lost by 4 goals and played well beneath our best. If it wasn't for some brain fades and some horrendous umpiring then the game would've been much closer. If not in our favour.

- The intensity of the players are there. It didn't drop off. The effort of the players is the main thing that can't be questioned.

- Melbournes issues are so clear that we can comfortably put all of our efforts into improving this. It's forward of centre. It's not only not having the personnel up forward but it's also the way we move the ball into the forward line. Now, I'm trying to say this in the nicest way possible. Brown isn't up to it, the evidence has more than stacked up. We have the evidence to make a change for the good. Yes, I've been banging on about Ben Brown all season. But tonight was maybe the confirmation that maybe the coaches needed.

- Petracca was injured, hopefully he'll be better by next week. And if not, we can rest him and roll the dice. There's no point resting him forward. Due to his goal kicking woes he can't be played in the fwd line. So let's roll the dice and if he can't play a full game in the midfield then it's a good opportunity to rest him.

- Sydney are a good team. We didn't lose to a bad team. They're a team with some of the most dangerous small forwards in the comp (Papley and Heeney).

- I also think Harmes will get off.

- I sat right near Nathan dogga Brown on level 4. He brought his son kynan. Looks like a father/son on the way next year and a dees fan.
Was Browny sitting Level 4 MCC or ?
Where was Browny sitting?

Ugly: GTFO ANB and Melkskam

Absolutely no way they play next week after that performance
How can you possibly mention ANB and Melksham and not mention ben Brown who was worse than both of them? At least ANB had a crack. Ben Brown had 7 possessions, 0 tackles and got pushed out of the ruck contest about 5 times. An absolute liability. melksham was bad, but was he any worse than Pickett who had 4 possessions for the game and had some costly misses on goal?

You look at how the swans move the ball then you watch us bomb it to the HFF 17 times and then Jayden Hunt misses a pass to Brown who is 20m in the clear. Guys like ANB Hunt Harmes all work their arse off but the difference between us and the swans is their ball movement is much braver.
I wouldn’t say it’s braver, it’s just exceptionally smart and well trained.

Everything wrong with the game today coz of simps in the media.

Celebrating divers.

Not like me to feel any empathy for knee dropper supreme Jack Ginnivan but he must be very confused right now:

2022 Media: Got to protect the head at all cost

Also 2022 Media: No room in the game for people that drop their knees and try and suck umps in for frees

Also, also 2022 Media: Buddy won the game with diving. :trophy:

Yeah our forwardline and the delivery into it was embarrassing.

Goodwin has known this all season yet has done nothing to fix it. You can just see them panicking and rushing TMac back who is totally underdone. We had a chance midseason to get games into JVR and Laurie but chose not to. ANB has been woeful this year. Melksham got totally exposed last night too. Spargo down on form, kozzy went MIA and Ben Brown was playing on 3 blokes all night because our mids are too dumb to look for other targets. We're not winning the flag with that set up forward.

How fumbly were we all night? The bye week did nothing for us. Looked flat besides a few players. Sydney completely own us. B Grader Hickey took our AA Rickman and Rising star winner to town!

We must have one of the worst home ground records in the comp. What's with that?

Swans at the stoppages did the old bloke out the back trick and we did nothing to stop it. Yet again we dominate hit outs but lose clearances.

May, Petty and Oliver standouts, everyone else in the bin. But F* May for getting sucked into Buddy's BS. Completely changed momentum. Goodwin has talked about momentum.and how important it is and he got sucked in completely.

Not many positives to come out of that game tbh. Swans will be a powerhouse for the next 5 years now. AFL have made sure of that.

The issues started when lost to Sydney in a close game after the first Fremantle loss. We just have so many structural issues. Incredibly disappointing that we haven’t played different players over Hunt and Brown. We have the most unchanged 22, surely.

Should have dropped Hunt for Salem.

Pretty obvious directive to the players not to play on tonight, which I find bizarre. We are never running down a deficit over two goals because our guys are too scared and/or not good enough for play an attacking brand.
Yeah this is on Goodwin surely. Played with zero dare through the middle. Too scared. We play one boring way and if that doesn't work.then we're screwed really.

Agree with alot of what you said except this. Are we more talented than the swans? Even their fringe players kick the ball better than our guns.

I just think this side has peaked and others have reached our level.
I agree with some of this - Sydney have a lot of talent across all lines and I don’t think we have more talent.

I’m not convinced we have peaked necessarily, hope not anyway, but this is how it will play out if we don’t build new ideas, innovate and evolve. We look as though we double down on the game plan and expect it to deliver. Good teams find ways to stop us.

Its a 2023 problem now - this year we just have to hope for a couple of those games where everything goes right and we get lucky. Unlikely that this will happen though. Good opponents will put pressure on and we lose any flair. Next year we do need to think more about ball movement, debut some Casey globetrotters, and nail some good trades somehow. If that doesn’t happen we do go backwards and watch other teams go past.

Kozzy non-existent is pretty disappointing.

Just quietly, been pretty shit in all our finals, played alright against Geelong in the prelim I suppose, but hard not to as a forward in a flogging like that.
