Who do we target with this pick?

What kids are likely be around with this pick?

Should it be packaged up with something/someone and traded off?

Unfortuneately it's a top 10 pick out track record with them isn't so great....maybe we'll redraft Angwin, we need a tall mobile forward line player.

I reckon we have enough young talls in Sellar and Tippett, (with Hentschel coming back as well)we can develop at the moment. I'd like us to try and upgrade our pick 10 to a higher pick say from Bulldogs as an example, and nab a young gun midfielder in the draft.
We lack pace and goal kicking midfielders especially with the older brigade retiring soon, so Rhys Palmer's our man.:thumbsu:

Serious? Is he that good?

Well at least Port can't get him then.

I roughly put his range on 4-6, but it's one of those ones where I can't see him sliding past that. IMO, the top 7 or 8 are pretty well set and then anything goes after that.

The Top 8 picks in no particular order are likely to be Kreuzer, Cotchin, Palmer, Masten, Morton, Ebert, Henderson, Rance. Not sure that I can really see anyone else sneaking into that Top 8 but then Pick 9-20 could be a whole bunch of different players.

Would be happy with either Ebert or Rhys Palmer.

If they are both gone and we still only hav pick 10 what about Cyril Rioli?? Very quick, talented and skilful, and a goal-kicker.

Trade it to Port for D White or Symes. It's been awhile since we gifted Port a quality young player ( K Cornes, S Burgoyne, D Pearce). Ahhh the irony.

Seriously though. The pick must be used on a GENUINE kpp or midfielder.

Scott Selwood eligible?

That has to be parcelled with someone like Meesen and or Kenny to get a higher pick and Ill say it's a given. :thumbsu:

What I want is a genuine classy superstar. Couldn't give a rats tossbag on what position he plays. Preferably a key forward but its a midfielders draft.

I don't think there will be anything up for trade in terms of key forwards either. Pavlich signed with Freo, Kozi signed with St. Kilda yesterday and I am certain Fevola will stay with Carlton.

Hentschel won't be back to his best until 2009 and I sure as hell hope Sellar and Tippett are something really special :(

We have drafted Sellar, Tippett, Meesen, we'll have Walker next year etc etc...they all have big wraps on them. Surely at least one of them is going to develop in line with expectation. SURELY!

....although Meesen will be gone most likely.

Thats what I want. We need a big arrogant **** who can take people on and show some candy. Palmer certainly fits the bill but will probably be gone. We lack that agression and arrongance...

In the end we just haven't had the early draft picks to get hold of such players. It's easy when you're Hawthorn or St Kilda or West Coast or Carlton and you've got top 5 picks to snap up Judd, Murphy, Hodge, Franklin and so on. Because of our consistently high finishes we've had to pluck good players from very murky water; Knights at pick 56 is a good example.

Just on that I would like to see a lottery system for the draft. Every team gets five tickets, and for each pick a ticket is drawn from a hat and that side gets that pick. It's completely neutral, no disadvantage or advantage to anyone. Theoretically you could come out with picks 1-5 or picks 66-70 or whatever.

We have screwed our first pick numerous times though. We draft well late but screw up early.

Agreed that we need to use our first pick on someone with real class. If we go for a midfielder he has to have great skills and decision making ability, good size and good pace. From what I've read about Ebert, he seems to fit that description. We should be doing all we can to upgrade our first pick to make sure that we get one of the elite players this year.
