I’m gonna duck as I’m saying this because theres some massive Hollands fans in here that will probably toss some toys out of their cots at me!..

But if we get him (which looks a certainty now).. manage to lure Parfitt out of Geelong... and Brad Crouch stays.

Then surely it makes Hollands a little less of a priority and we go a KPF with our first...

and maybe hope Hollands slides to 8 (doubtful I know but stranger things given his ACL).

Then target nothing but elite mids next year (i.e. Horne etc.).

You know its the smart thing to do!.

This was always on since draft night 2018, him and his family look shattered when he got drafted to GWS.

From memory it was a very similar reaction from the McAsey camp when we read out his name...
Who can forget it... given how unbelievably gorgeous his mum is... Even with a look of disappointment on her face!.

Yeah it will. They might push for a first round pick, we'll counter with a second round pick being much more reasonable. The background of the PSD will speak for itself and they'll accept it rather than lose him for nothing. They have their own academy, so second/third round picks would still be useful to them.

Nope, a fair deal will be negotiated by both parties and obviously it will favour us, of course both parties will be aware of the PSD option but it won't even be mentioned in passing....only by the Big Footy nuffies.

Uncontracted, he's named his destination club....Jason McCartney is their list manager, you know that guy that played 3 seasons for the Crows, GWS' record of being fair traders.
Yes I'm sure those 37 games he played for us will factor in the dealings. We got full value for Lever - uncontracted.

Look I don't expect them to ask for pick 8, but I think they'll draw it out as much as they can and if it's a 'fair' deal most on this board wont be happy.

I just cant follow the logic - hes a gun former 14 pick, but hes uncontracted, but we wont resort to the psd, but we'll get him for **** all anyway.

We're pretty inflexible with our midfield and run minimum numbers through there. Hopefully significant change occurring with fresh ideas coming in. Not sure how fresh NVB's ideas are though.

Yup, though we did try to fix that this season. Unfortunately for us, our little win-streak in the back end of the season coincided with a return to the more inflexible midfield set up.

That said, Hately can certainly swing forward which does help with any issues with inflexibility, and even at our worse, we found a way to include a Greenwood/CEY who Hately would be a direct replacement for.

And they also have Jye Caldwell out of contract and are going hard to retain him, therein lies your answer.....They have gun midfielders running out of every orifice.

Lever was best 22...Hately clearly is not.

I don't even think this will got that long. There seems to be a pretty obvious precedent with this in Matt Kennedy, and Carlton obtained him with a mid-to-late 2nd round pick. It might just be a case of offer the Dogs pick and its signed off day one.

Mutineer how well does Ronin O'Connor stack up to Hately?
He doesn't in regards to accumulation and versatility, the only area Ronin is superior in is speed and acceleration....plus Hately's game was far more advanced when drafted than that of O'Connor.

Personally think O'Connor will find it tough to break into our side as the years go by and we bring in top end talent. The line is only getting longer.
Think he's a good player but players like Jones and McHenry might not be in our best 22 round 1 next year.

As an Adelaide supporter I just cant imagine good (hopefully) players nominating us and then getting them for unders.
