The West seems to have stopped the over the top coverage of Harley... wonder if he or the club threatened legal action?
No offence but the whole club gloomy. Not even Harley can provide a fire in a pitch black hell whole that is the club.

Not even wce nuffies are buying the newspapers now since it depressing

The editor went on holiday and they put some different content on the back cover while he was gone. It seemed to be well received so he has likely kept it going. He was copping a lot of flack for the Harley obsession.

And walk away from a $1.5m+ contract? Not a chance. He’ll need to be pushed.

Which he will be, just maybe not this week. He looked absolutely cooked at the presser. Out of ideas, out of excuses and out of time.
It'll be a sit down chat with Pyke.
"hey mate, I know you want me gone lets negotiate".
Then in 2 weeks we have a "thank you simmo" run of games to the end of the year where he leaves with a nice negotiated payout, Darling gets his 300 at MDMA stadium and we start chasing a new coach as soon as the season ends.

That would all be lovely but why would Simmo take any kind of pay cut to what he signed on for? As he said in the presser he’ll wait for the tap on the shoulder and spend a year doing nothing and being paid $1m.

I want JD to get to 300 but not at the expense of the development of Archer and JWill when it’s the perfect time to play them with nothing on the line and Oscar and Waterman shielding them.

Pyke must have reached out to Cox by now, so to speak.

AND ANOTHER THING …

When text messages are leaked and they pot the senior coach, the response on the ground can be telltale. Do the players rally in times of division? Do they play for the coach? They are throwaway lines in professional football and maybe, just simply, the Eagles aren’t a very good football team.

For whatever reason, West Coast wasn’t up for the fight on Sunday at the MCG. Certainly early in the game – the Demons kicked 7.3 to 1.3 in the first quarter and had 11.5 by the half, which was their highest-scoring first-half of the year.
The Demons moved the ball crazily well and all their forwards looked dangerous, but note that Melbourne’s best three players were kids – Trent Rivers, Jacob van Rooyen and Caleb Windsor. The Eagles had to be better. Maybe coach Adam Simpson could fire off some texts himself.

Like, can you take a mark, Bailey Williams? Reuben Ginbey, can you please pick up Caleb Windsor? Come on, Jermaine Jones, it’s game 64, you’ve got to be better than nine disposals. Hey, Campbell Chesser, what’s going on in your head? Hey, Tom Barrass, any danger you could stop van Rooyen?

The Eagles were more competitive after half-time, and actually slaughtered the Demons at stoppage and territory, but they fell down badly on the outside.

Yep, this. Simmo has the club by the nutsack - he either gets turfed and has the best holiday of his life in 2025, or he stays on and continues to serve up the same tripe as he has almost all year, knowing he's toast come December 31st (and so has absolutely no incentive to implement improvements in his final year - after all, why let some other bloke rock up and claim credit for your hard work?).

I would strongly argue that the whole fiasco has thoroughly poisoned the well at West Coast for long coaching contracts in the future.

The board would literally rather waste everyone's next two years than owning up to their own mistake and eating the 1.5 mill or whatever it is to give the coach who's clearly coasting the sack. What a rabble we've become.
How bad was that contract extension when he's prob deserved to be sacked for 3 years and he STILL has another year on his contract.

As a few have already stated the Sports Talk program on ABC from Saturday just gone is well worth a listen. Other than an interview with Joel Corey from Freo towards the start the majority of the program was on the woes of West Coast.

Can’t find a link but it is available on the ABC Listen app.

Interesting stuff from Wellingham in particular. Especially when he mentions that a 1990’s premiership player he was speaking to said that the current board is ordinary and has too much business focus and not enough football IP.

Last paragraph, no sh*t Sharrod. The fans have known this for years. Somewhere after the Benny C years we turned from a hard-nosed footy first club into a pea hearted PC corporation machine that sells footy tickets on the side. (And ok, fair enough we had to make some changes but my god did we swing way to far in the opposite direction)

Personally the best thing this year about HR9 is he has brought a bit of d*ck-head mongorl to the club that we have been lacking for soo long. 1st and foremost he is a footy player. That's what we desperately need to get back to, being a footy club.

Makes the fact that we still made GFs and won a flag all the more impressive IMO.

But it's time for a change.
