Just to turn the attention away from Geelong for a second... anyone else find it amazing that for all the angst about Sam Mitchell being traded for pick 88, that happens to be Hawthorns first pick in this draft! They really cleaned the cupboard to get JOM and Mitchell in.

I think we shoulf all look at the trafes in isolation.

Tuohy and future 2nd rounder for Smedts and future 1st rounder. The picks will most likely be negligible in difference anyway.

Kersten for 63. In all honesty did he ever come up to what we thought he would? As the second kpp he kicked 22 goals. Behind Mots, Menzel and Danger. Wasnt picked for the finals, fell out of favour. Why is there such a big uproar? Maybe we could have done better, maybe not. Uncontracted and wanted to go WA

Vardy for 72. Injury ridden and when fit still couldnt get a game. More of a favour it seems

Caddy for 24 and late swaps. This one sucks a little bit, but improves our draft position by 14 places. People on here are annoyed we trade away oir picks, but seem unhappy when we trade for better picks. Caddy was basically pushed on to HFF when scooter and menegola played. Yeah 24 seems unders, but maybe, just maybe Wells has someone in mind for this pick.

Aaron Black for pick 92. Basically a free hit at a KPP. Pretty good.

Played 50 out of a possible 130-140 games since getting drafted in 2009

I hear you,yes I do.
But he came for free p92 we were never going to use that pick.....north prob will paying some of he's wage.
We were painted in a corner with kersten and vardy leaving unsure why they didn't look at Xricherds at the swans.

Sounds like there might be a chance to pick up Richards as a delisted free agent.

I think the basic premise of it all is okay.

Tuohy was needed and I think adds some speed to the back half which was needed. I also like that he kicks the ball long. If you can have a guy take game on in the back half and boot long over the zones, it should be a nice weapon to have. I like him.

Kersten, I think was too cheap but not that far off and I think Vardy was right. I also think that Black is a reasonable get. I didn't even consider him possible. Go and watch his videos and compare him to Kersten. I think Kersten is crud. He had no competitors for his spot and couldn't make it his own. Black has far more talent and potential than Kersten. Pace and can take a mark. Both somethings Kersten lacks. Overall I am happy with that.

I have already whinged about Caddy as I think the problem is now we need someone to replace him and Bartel. Replacing Bartel was okay but Caddy as well becomes more difficult. I know we have Lang, Cockatoo etc and they need games but its a big expectation to expect those guys to match those players every week. Now maybe they will and maybe they will but its a big ask.

I would have liked them to address some more class and pace off half forward but maybe they think they are okay there. I'm not sure. It seems like there are lot of risks when we just needed that little bit more to put us right up the top. Instead, we let our target go to a flag rival. Maybe there are some options like DFA Ricky Henderson who can play wing etc that might add some pace and class even if they are as soft as butter.

Its not a bad trade period if you take Caddy out, its just not quiet what we needed.

So Carlton has 2 future 2nds to trade away?
If they don't, did they get a future 2nd from some where, does this mean Hawks paid under a for jom or did we just pay a future first and smedts for 2e?

Please don't tell me Black is a shit kick for goal or injury prone... This ****ing club must have dementia with the amount of potato second rate forwards we have taken that amazingly played the same amount of shit as their previous clubs.

All the last day deals in one place to wrap your head around:
