Didn’t watch the last Qtr and a half for obvious reasons

Thought we’d lose and we did. If this is a sign of what’s to come 2023 is a far distant memory

Bad kicking
More shots
More I50
Their first 9 goals were from our pissweak defensive display

And to top it off

This is down right embarrassing

Was it a mistake to select Dean for this game? He did some good things but looked out of his depth

Dean looks a very smart player, but he is a bit like scharenberg in that he’s a tad slow and not strong in wrestles.

Not sure what type of afl forward he plays on. Reckon there’s some tall forwards who are gonna kick some big bags against us this year.

Very reminiscent of the Brisbane loss at the Gabba last year. Fumbly, awful structure, awful intensity, but the real killer was the ability to lose every contested ball all night long.

Mitchell, Crisp and De Goey were all very timid, and we're razor thin for ball-winning mids after those three.

Ash Johnson just simply can't be trusted as a key forward when the intensity is high. Maybe as a fourth forward, but he'll never hold down a KP2 role, especially with Checkers already undersized as our KP1.

Lipinski can run and accumulate, but he still makes many team-killing mistakes and is very nervous in the contested situations. I wouldn't play him. Noble brings more intensity and Macrae brings more upside.

And poor Charlie Dean. He had a lot goals of kicked on him. And in the worst possible way - conceding easy marks inside 50.

It's all fixable. But that was as bad as it's ever been under Fly.

Who cares though, we won the flag. Just hope the players don't keep playing that way.

Nothing Short then F**king Weak as Piss Collingwood tonight

Only Steele/Nick/Maynard(Work on Greene) be a Postive.

Rest was s**t at Best

Yes it's the 1st Game of the Season so not writing our Season Off but Some Very Worrying Signs Tonight

Worst Game we played vs Dogs in 2022

All Kicking was Poor Tonight. Intensity was no where near it should be for Regular Season

Had no Plan B as we just Kept Bombing the Ball forward.

Hopefully just a Massive Wake Up Call for the Team and we come out Firing vs Swans Friday Night
Yeah its really not that bad. If this was middle of the season, then fair enough, but it's not even round 1, it's before that, and we came off a Premiership. It would have been nice to have a first game against a team like the Tigers, but we played the team that will prob replace the Lions as the biggest team to challenge this season. The skill level is what I expect a rusty, pre season team to look like, which still would have been enough to win against the majority of other sides.

Reef is less of a KPF than Johnson though may contribute more goals than AJ if played in Elliott's role.
I don't think AJ should be anywhere on the ground for a long spell. He has failed repeatedly in pressure games and simply looks fragile in the contest. Reef may not be the answer but he has a red hot go.

There's a real reluctance to admit that we are gong to have to play the entire year without a class tall up forward.

Very few decent players tonight.
Very few positives if any to take out of it. The only one I can think of is .... We have plenty of upside surely.
Defensive structure and effort was a nightmare. It was giving me flashbacks to the Buckley guarding grass zone circa 2014/15. Darcy Moore especially needs to pull his head in and learn that's there's a time to man up and defend.

Players on notice; Johnson, Cox, Dean, Markov.
Hope to see MCrae and McInnes playing next game.

He was given a baptism of fire. The Giants were pumped up and red hot and our defense was already missing two of our best defenders. He deserves another chance to settle into his role.

Despite all our errors the biggest was the AFL’s decision to schedule the two grand finalists to start the season 1 week earlier than 10 others clubs.

Our footy was very reminiscent of a practice game, which shouldn’t come as a surprise especially for the more experienced players who had a later start to preseason

Lots of fumbling and missed targets, but despite that, had we kicked the goals we should have kicked, this would have been much closer. Interesting to see the expected scores for this game.

I saw a lot of players not really putting their heads over the ball, and doing the easy things like dinky little knock ons and kicks that went straight to the opposition. It was clear that the players weren’t fully switched on,which is understandable considering they wereplaying in the ridiculously early time of the first week in March. In the past we would be playing practice matches in the country at this time of the year,so it’s understandable that the players weren’t fully switched on after winning the premiership last year.

But still it’s worrying to see the structural weaknesses at both ends of the ground.Mcstay is going to a huge loss this year and there is no obvious replacement for him.Ditto Murphy. He is going to be a huge loss if he decides to pull the pin on his career, and there is no obvious replacement for him as well.
